My Mother always enjoyed this store and visited many, many times. So, it was just natural that we thought of them when she recently passed to see if they would like the majority of the items in the her apartment. Patrick came, looked around and decided that he wanted whatever we wanted to donate and started working on getting people and transportation. They made all the necessary arrangements and arrived on time yesterday and within a few hours, the apartment was emptied by some very professional and fast working people. Now, the volunteers who work there are going to have alot of sorting and pricing to do. Thank you, Patrick and everyone who helped. You really helped me and my family.

Everyone there is so beyond friendly, and helpful. We bought a dining room table and chairs from them last year, and Patrick helped me bring it into my house! Unbelievable!!! It was not easy task, and he took time out of his day to help us. There are always hidden gems, you just have to look for them.

The volunteers do indeed appear to be slightly out of it, but the store itself is just fine. Picked up a crock in a style I’ve been looking for for over a year for $ 5, and was seriously taken with the cookbook selection. The fiction doesn’t appear to be anything special, but the cookbooks featured a dozen volumes of «The Best of Gourmet» annuals and several high-end pastry and dessert cookbooks for $ 1-$ 2 each. Offers magazines for 25 cents each. Didn’t pay much attention to the clothes or housewares as I’d scored so hard with the books that I really couldn’t carry anything else.

Ela G’s review of 2−07−13, tells me she visited the shop once. I have been frequenting the Pink Elephant Shop for years and know it well. Under the present management, it has improved in every way many– fold. A lovely shop — and you never know what you will find — which makes it a very pleasant experience to just wander about there looking at everything. I have found many wonderful«little treasures», as well as many practical items. Great furniture choices if you’re looking for a bargain in furnishing your home. The residents of Elmhurst definitely support the shop with their donations. Dead wrong review, Ms G! Try again. C. Hickey

I love resale shops, and this is one of my favorite to browse any day it’s open. The location is great — right at the north side of the train tracks in Elmhurst. Merchandise and inventory obviously vary. I have both donated to this shop and have bought too. The management is very helpful. I find the staff very approachable — but beware there are a lot of older volunteers here who don’t really have much knowledge about anything really. They are good at processing transactions but otherwise they will frequently tell you to speak to the manager who is often speaking with other patrons … such is the reality of a volunteer based work force. One of my bet finds here was a great king sized low profile mid-century headboard which I bought fo $ 50. Ironically, I ended up bringing it back to donate a year later because I found my dream bed. Another find was an in-box brand new metal table with rounded corners, aluminum frame, and glass top. It’s an office table for me and I love it – another bargin at $ 50.

this antique/resale/consignment store had nice quality items for fair prices. Lots of furniture and home items, and some clothing and jewelry. I thought the store was clean, well-laid out, and the staff was friendly. These types of stores are always hit or miss because the stock changes so you have to frequent them. i will return to this one for sure. I thought it was better than the the Brown elephant in andersonville.

Very clean and organized, but lacks inventory. Usually the suburbs have better stock than the picked over city locations, but the store did not fit that model. Come on Elmhurst, donate to your local Pink Elephant!

So I’m not a big fan of resale/antique stores. It’s like pulling teeth to get me into one. Most of the time, you find crap in them. Let me say though, the Pink Elephant Resale Shop is not one of those places. Every time I come in here, there are beautiful pieces of furniture for great prices. Why go to IKEA and buy a piece of crap that will fall apart when you can purchase an item that is hand-carved and sturdy? You can tell whoever donated the items have taken very good care of them. Yes, some will need a little touch up but that’s no big deal. The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to help you. It’s great and definitely puts a new spin on the stuffy image of a resale shop. Plus, I believe some(if not all) of the proceeds go to the local hospital.
