I have a special place in my heart for spots like Mr. G’s. I grew up in diners: Lee’s Town and Country, The Wheaton Diner, The Cottage Hill restaurant. A neighborhood place. What you see is what you get, a small local corner diner. No Mocha Latte’s, no steamed milk. You have eggs, sandwiches, and coffee, served by hard working people who are happy to take care of you. Not fancy, but always comfortable and reliable.

Tried them out for the first time today. I always avoided this place cause the sign look run down, but I tried it cause other Unilocalers marked it well. The patty melt is very good, and the prices are really reasonable. I fed my family of 5 for $ 35. About the same cost as fast food, but you get classic diner food for the same price. I’m gonna try the breakfast soon, so I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

Came here for breakfast! And as I was expecting just typical Diner food. Turned out it was a little more than that! Gave me a homey home cooked meal feel– which will win me over anytime. Waiter was great! Food came out pretty quickly, I ordered the biscuits & gravy with 2 eggs and a side of hashbrowns! Eggs cooked to perfection! and a solid full plate, no skimping here. I will be back

My husband and I go here just about once a week. The food is typical diner food however it is well prepared every time. Plus the soup and pies are homemade so they are much tastier than other diners. My husband loves the bacon burger and the chorizo avocado skillet is delish. The service is always good, everyone is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Plus if you shop at Jewel across the street it is a good place to stop for a meal before going shopping.

Did you ever say to yourself, «I can’t believe I ate the whole thing?» Well, I just did. The Mr. G’s Pork Tenderloin Sandwich was huge and delicious. It was a recommendation from my brother and now I’m recommending it to you. Also, the vegetable noodle soup was awesome, with lots of vegetables and a great broth. There’s another cliché that I found true today, and that is, «you can’t judge a book by its cover». Mr. G’s is not fancy by any stretch of the imagination. It’s a diner. You might easily take a pass just based on the aesthetics alone, but you shouldn’t. You don’t have to take my word for it. Check out the reviews. All are positive. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal!’

Great little restaurant in south Elmhurst. Reminds you of the quaint restaurants in little towns. We had breakfast here and got eggs, sausage hash browns with pancakes. Everything was cooked to perfection and NOT greasy. I will defiantly make this my go to for breakfast place from now on and have to try their lunch specials.
