The service at House of Andy is the worse I’ve experienced at a Chinese Bakery. The buns were mislabeled. And the man by the register would not help me identify which bun is which. He was such an A-hole about it. There is no way for a potential patron to tell which bun has which filling. Is it red bean, egg custard, or nothing inside. How is a customer supposed to know the different shapes of the buns? Some were round, triangular, oblong, so as to differentiate the different buns. They consolidated and put all the buns onto one tray. How is a customer supposed to know? The guy working there doesn’t care, obviously. He is just trying to get rid of them. But how is he supposed to sell something that a customer doesn’t know what it is? This place is ridiculous. House of Andy also skimps on the filling. The ham and egg bun is pretty skimpy as far as filling goes. I go to another Chinese bakery that is closer to me and the filling to the Ham and Egg bun is super generous to a point of overflowing. The Chinese bakery by me is so much better. My bf tried the Ham and Egg bun from the Chinese bakery by me yesterday and was pretty impressed by it and criticized House of Andy’s Ham and Egg bun also. The only time I liked House of Andy is when they had a two for $ 4 special on the Lychee Ice drink.

If you are out shopping at Queens. This is a good place to stop by for Roast Pork Buns. I am having a bun frenzy here. What a selection. Lots of regulars grab their buns, sweets and lunch special to go. Get to select three choices with soup and rice for only $ 5.95. This offer good for lunch and dinner.

Last week my sister bought me a rice order which comes with 3 food of your choice and one of them was vegetable and it was spoiled. Today I bought a triangle cake and there was a fly stuck on top of it. I’m a regular customer and will still be but I just wanted to mention the problems I’ve had so far with this bakery.

I love the tea with milk and a coconut bun for breakfast …yummmm.however what I like the most in the summer time is their ice lemon water with honey made fresh, so refreshing! …however the places is always so noisy not too well maintained .but what else do you expect for breakfast that cost you a total of $ 2 bucks lol… cant complain.

This place has the best buns and coffee. Better than Fay Da and I was a loyal customer until I visited this hidden gem. Coffee is amazing and the dried pork bun or the dried pork egg omelet is a must. My son lovee their sweet buns. What can I say, you will always find me here!

I came in for a small hot tea with milk. Man, was it good! There was tons of milky light cream and matching amounts of sugar. I could now die happily. Just kidding. I saw some cooked dishes such as an entire chicken and random hot foods. There were the typical range of Chinese baked goods such as bbq roast pork bun, coconut bun, hot dog bun, and also in-store homemade loaves of bread made with butter and coconut.

A good mix of Chinese bakery(with egg tarts, roast pork buns, cream buns, chicken sandwiches, etc) and Chinese buffet-style food(they give you 3 dishes over rice + one soup for a fairly cheap price). After living around the area for several months, I’ve come to love this place for the convenience. I personally like the quality of the food(the fishes and clam dishes they have here are great!) with a good mix of meat, vegetables and seafood. The bread here trumps a lot of other places nearby, especially the roast pork bun. Try it!

Very under the radar. I walked past this place many times before I stepped in. The food in the back is good. The chefs have a light touch and do not overpower with salt or msg. The bakery section I found excellent as well. Low prices, good quality.

I can think back on many a days where I sat at the window seats reading my book(5 simple steps to world domination) and drinking my hot milk tea. Good times. They have the best location, and the best milk tea. Ok that last point is debatable. It’s a combination coffee shop, bakery, and restaurant. They have hot food serving stations where you can choose three dishes over rice and it comes with a soup. All for the same price that you’d pay for halal chicken over rice, only this is more food, more filling, and more variety. Win, win, win. Sometimes I’ll just grab a bowl of their hot soup. But damn, it’s been two weeks, and all they serve is seaweed soup. The first five times I tried it, I was bouncing off the walls with excitement. It reminds me of my mom’s homemade seaweed soup, just without the meat, without the shrimp, and without the love. That’s all. But, I don’t know why they don’t switch up the soup though. Don’t they know that whole bit about variety being the spice life, or that one about presenting customers with options? This place really is good. Their hot meals remind me of my mom’s home cooking. And, just like mom, they serve you huge portions. I can never finish a meal without teetering on the edge of regurgitation. This is Starbucks before it became popular. Picture paying $ 0.90 for coffee/tea, sitting, reading, chilling, and people watching — asian style.

I don’t even know why I’ve eaten here the numerous times I did, but it stops today. So sometimes the bus is late and I have no other lunch choice but this place. Mind u, they just recently went from a C rating to B in Dept of Health… O yay~ –_– I’ve never tried the bakery buns, but the coffee is pretty bad. The lunch box(3 dishes over rice + 1 soup) is just awful. The rice is mushy, the topping choices are pretty limited AND taste bad(bland or some kind of undeliciousness), and recently I found out that they’ve been very stingy with the portion. Exactly 1 scoop of tofu(whatever fits on the serving spoon) and 1 piece of pork belly + 1 egg, ONE! I am done with this establishment. Will take my chances with the cart on the street corner than here.

I am a regular customer here because I work close by. The food is really cheap and good. For under 5 bucks you can get 3 dishes and 1 soup. You can say that they have a mixed offering of home-chinese and american chinese cuisine. They have quite a variety of meat and veggie choices and all of them that I have gotten so far were pretty good. There is a good amount of seating and the place is quite clean. The quality of food is easily better than your neighboring Chinese take out. Highly recommended!

Is this a bakery or a place to take a nap? I came in here to get out of the rain, bought a cup of tea as my «plan» lol. Took a table with a freind and noticed it was very quiet but there were people there. Sleeping with there heads on the tables, i dont mean, one, i mean like four different people. Im guessing this is the place you come for a cheap excuse to sleep, lol. My tea with milk was very good but how can u mess that up. Food looks yummy, i will review next time i try it

The newly renovated, under-new-management bakery/café that was once called«Kam Bakery». They sell cakes, pastries and Chinese bakery breads at the front of the building. Come here if you want to taste horrible cake and frosting. I personally detest Chinese bakery cakes. Everything about the Chinese bread just screams«cheap». The prices are affordable ranging from 80 cents to 1.25 for a pastry. They have a 3-dish 1-soup with rice area in the back which has decent dishes. You should come here for this deal if you choose not to cook dinner tonight or if you pass the Grand Avenue– Newtown station on your way home. Expect to find a bunch of age 60+ people lounging around sipping their«milk teas» until closing time.

Unknown to me, the previous restaurant closed down and I realize it re-opened as «House of Andy’s» around the same time as the new Golden Sparkling Supermarket next door, making me think the two are related or owned by the same owner(or owners.) Upon going inside, the bakery items are on the left while the poultry is on the right. As a relief to me, the butchers do speak Cantonese and can converse in the Mandarin language. I can get my roast pork fix by ordering it by the pound. I’m thankful that they sell roast pork because I can’t find any poultry shops around the area. As with any Chinese standard in ordering roast pork, I tell the butcher to pick a piece that’s not«too fatty,» meaning more meat and less fat. Everything is paid at the register in the middle on the bakery side. The cashiers speak Mandarin but can understand Cantonese. Right next to the bakery side further in is the take-out/fast-food section. I can get a few dishes and one soup for one price. I am not sure the details anymore, but it is available. Lastly, I forgot to see if they had any«after 5PM» specials where the buns are reduced in price just like the previous Kam Lun Bakery had offered. No matter how the bakery changed from«Kam Lun Bakery» to «House of Andy’s», there are still small tables and seats for dine-in customers. House of Andy’s might be a little tight in space, but the services seem to be all there. PROS: tries to maintain Kam Lun Bakery’s operational practices, Chinese bakery, poultry, and Chinese takeout food all-in-one place. CONS: space is tighter than the previous location
