We’ve been going here for years. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and authentic southern Italian fare at a reasonable cost.

Very cute location and atmosphere, however food is nothing to rave about. I was expecting high end Italian and sadly received pasta on the same level as Olive Garden but for more $$ I would go somewhere else if you are looking for authentic Italian.

Yes, Angelos is not haute cuisine but it is an excellent Italian restaurant with a very large menu, great ingredients, large portions, and good prices. And the staff is terrific too. The best bargain for miles around is the $ 18 buffet lunch. Lots of choices and great food. It’s my favorite restaurant in Elmhurst.

I give Angelo’s restaurant 5 stars for the food, their wood oven pizza is one of the best. The deli is very extended they also make Panninis, submarines cold pasta salads and of course gelato and Italian ice. They have a huge banquet hall for weddings and parties. The freshly renovated side is very beautiful rustic Italian look. The prices are very cheap. I enjoy coming back here to my old neighborhood in Elmhurst. I am glad I came back.. I really recommend this authentic Italian restaurant you will be glad you came here. Family owned and operated

Went here for dinner with my in laws. The food was pretty good, the server was a talker — she seemed incapable of serving without giving us her life story. She also left my water glass empty quite a few times — cardinal sin for a server in my eyes ;). We were here on a Sunday night and the place was all but deserted — I don’t know how they last if that is typical. The bread was served warm with butter(not enough). I had the Chicken Saltimboca — my chicken was overly salty and I was only able to eat half. My hubby had the Veal Marsala and it was good but also a bit too salty(and I love salt!). They did make my father in law a special white wine sauce for his clam pasta and it was served with tons of clams.

Great service and fresh full-flavored Italian style food. Cannolis are the best. If I had brought my gun, I would have left it to take the cannolis!

Visited this place for a wedding reception in the banquet facilities. The ONLY thing good about this place was the wait staff. The wait staff was TERRIFIC and very pleasant and personable! Then we come to find out that the gratuity was added on to the bill of the bride and groom and that the wait staff never sees a penny! They did keep the room ventilated fairly well, which was a blessing as well as the food being delicious! However, the bathrooms were thoroughly DISGUSTING and small with huge puddles of water and toilet paper on the floor. They had two banquet rooms squished together on the second floor with small hallways and a coatrack hanging where people needed to walk. The walls between the rooms were paper thin and we could not even hear the wedding vows or toasts over the music from the next room! The banquet room floors were completely filthy as the bottoms of the long dresses and bare feet were black by the end of the night, not to mention the cuts on feet from broken glass. They screwed over all the guests and the bride and groom when it came to drinks!!! Go figure it was an open bar that the bride and groom were paying for. There were about 70 guests, more than half of whom were older people and kids. There is no way on this God’s green earth that even 50 people(exaggerating on the number of people drinking) drank $ 2500 worth of alcohol in a 5 hour time span even IF they were a bunch of drunks! What they DID do WAS the fault of the wait staff; however, probably at the insistence of the incredibly unprofessional owner WHOKEPTCLEARINGTHEDRINKSOFFTHETABLES! Drinks would be obtained from the bar, have one sip taken and then disappear! And, this was over and over and over again all night long!!! They also closed the bar 1 ½ hours early and left the guests that remained completed parched and cotton mouthed because they removed EVERYTHING off the tables including WATER regardless of how full the glass was! The owner was a complete bully and completely unprofessional and some other names I’d like to call him. I would NEVER do business with a place or person like this and don’t recommend you do either!!!

We were in here for over 2 hours for dinner. There were other tables that also had the same issue. The restaurant was not that crowded so I’m assuming they were understaffed. Our waiter was ok, was going to comp us dessert but never did. Forgot to bring us bread and our refills. Luckily the food was good and thank God they have paper covering the tables. My daughter was able to keep herself entertained by drawing while we waited.

The food at Angelo’s is quite good, and the staff does a good job. My daughter and I came in for dinner tonight and had some issues. Let me correct that one issue, the owner. The restaurant itself was not busy, but they did have an event going on upstairs. The restaurant was woefully under-staffed, our server Tony(who did a great job under the circumstances) was serving, hosting and bartending. There appeared to be only one bartender, one busser and no other staff. I believe the people attending the dinner upstairs were coming down to the bar to get drinks, which completely overwhelmed the bartender. After the rush at the bar subsided, the owner came out of the kitchen, and the only thing he did was make fun of the bartender for asking for help, and talk on his phone in Barese to, I assume, his wife or girlfriend. This guy has no reason to be in the restaurant!

When here for valentines Day. 4:30 pm resv. not crowed yet. special menu only. I ordered the prime rib and hubby ordered lemon chicken. Took a long time to get when food came prime ride was overdone and leathery. Potatoes were cold. I complained they took it back; Brought back another piece which was cooked better but still not good prime rib. He told manager and received wine and potatoes credit of 11 dollar For a 38 dollar crappy prime rib I didn’t even finish. Also was supposed to get a side of pasta with each meal and never did. Manager never even came over to apologize. Will not go back here. Also not very friendly staff members.

Excellent lunch buffet. The selection of salads is really nice. Artichoke, seafood, cucumber, bean, any kind of salad. They always have smoked salmon as well. The entrees are also good. Fish, meatballs, sausage, eggplant, calamari. I though the service was good for a buffet style meal, I couldn’t get halfway through my glass of water without a refill. There are a couple other Italian buffets in the area, but this is easily the best. And it’s not much more expensive than the rest. I always recommend this spot.

Whether your in for dinner or in for lunch, you are in for a treat! Lunch buffet is an incredible value that is packed with deliciously prepared italian salads and other staples of italian cuisine. Form fresh fried calamari, to italian sausage and peppers, baked fish, eggplant parmesan… the list goes on and on. Had dinner here a couple weeks ago and the fresh bread and olive oil was so good. Bread was incredibly soft and warm… The entrees all looked amazing and all I really wanted that evening was pizza and they certainly delivered ont hat as well… The crust is one of the best I have ever had. Light and spongy and delivers a fantastic flavor. I had their sausage pizza and it was seriously good eats. It comes with goat cheese sprinkled on it so if you are not a fan just ask them to prepare it without. The Service — Fast and Friendly The Food — Delicious, Authentic. The Ambiance — Intimate and Cozy The Value — Top Notch If anyone is craving Italian, bring them here.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good Angelo’s was the other night. I had the Puttanesca Spaghetti. The sauce, or gravy if you’re Italian, had capers and olives. I just love the taste of capers and I don’t find them often enough. In terms of the décor, Angelo’s remodeled a couple of years ago. The restaurant is super comfortable, and they have a really nice deli. If you’re a fan of Francesca Amici, you should give this place a try and see how it compares. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Unilocal

Came here tonight for a family style dinner. It was great. The food tasted great, the waiters were quick and diligent. I loved the design and ambiance of the inside. Only reason I give it four stars is because since we did family style with a group of people, I’m not sure how much it would cost me for just an individual meal or the value for what I pay so I guess I’ll have to come back and see that one day.

Had dinner here tonight. The Eggplant Parmigiana was very good. My husband had the Veal Picante. He cleaned his plate! Only complaint was the sauce/gravy. The tomato seeds should have have been removed and maybe a little sugar to cut the acid. Drinks were great and service was very nice. Tony apologized for the slow service, which I actually enjoyed. So many times the soup/salad course is so closely followed by the entrée you don’t have time to catch your breath. Slowing down was a refreshing change. Will definitely be back.

Lunch buffet was really great for the price. Loved eggplant, minestrone, aglio olio. Really nice place, felt fancy for lunch and enjoyed it a bunch.

A friend of mine offered lunch here and since I was closer(dropped my carat the dealer for service) I went at Angelo’s . I am very impress withe the lunch buffet here. My favorite was the three beans salad and the smoked salmon on the salad table. I would say that the Italian beef topped the list of the hot table. It was tender and full of flavor. The white fish and eggplant parmigiana was very good too. Service was attentive and knowledge. I would recommend this place to my friends

Made a reservation for 6 people three days prior, requesting«a nice table please, we are celebrating our 11 year old girl’s birthday» — to which they assured us: «Of course!» We were seated at the table right next to the bar. The loud TV completely cancelled out the pretty décor of the place, and we had to ask to have the candle at our table lit. We went having heard about the $ 10 entrée specials, but they strategically did not bring out the special menu until we specifically asked for it. But the worst was the wait for our food: 1 hour &20 minutes! We were all starving and the bread refill did not come for another 30 minutes. When it did, half the bread in it was cold and nearly stale. The entrees themselves would have had to have been phenomenal to make the wait worth it – they weren’t and it wasn’t, but the pasta dishes were alright. Water glasses did not seem fully clean. All in all: terrible experience, won’t be coming back.

** Gemma Disclaimer: There is a slight lag time on this review. Based on my seemingly endless reviews of all things funeral related, I feared a chicken would have to be sacrificed if I wrote another one. ** I was invited to Angelo’s after my friend lost her Dad and this was my first time here since their remodel. Though not a large gathering, we were made welcome in one of their upstairs rooms. There is one small elevator to assist folks upward: otherwise the sleek wooden staircase must be negotiated. Though my friends family is from Germany, I was interested that they selected this spot with its Italian theme. A nice meal was paired with a cash bar for alcohol though other beverages came complimentary with the meal. We started with a great minestrone; it had a wonderful flavor and it was hot!(One of my pet peeves being soup with a case of the shivers). The garden dinner salad was also good, heavy on dark greens, with two options for dressing. Angelo’s kept it a casual family dining experience, kept the food coming, but still didn’t rush the meal. When the main course arrived, it covered the gamut of dinner options. Family style beef, veggies, pasta, lemon potatoes, and chicken were served. If we ran out, more came. Again, piping hot! Our meal was good; the Vesuvio chicken was unlike what I have had, but all in all we enjoyed our food. There was also ice cream and coffee for dessert. No mistake: we experienced nice service and a good meal that fit the occasion, with emphasis on family. Thanks!

Just over a week ago, my great-grandma passed away. We were five generations which is pretty unique and something that we have always been pretty proud of. My grandma even got us into the local newspaper(complete with a picture) earlier this year. So what does this have to do with Angelo’s? Well, not much, but it does explain why I was here for the lunch buffet on a Tuesday. After the funeral services, Angelo’s was the chosen luncheon location. My great-aunt made the arrangements. We were in Evergreen Park for the burial and had to drive back to Elmhurst for lunch which caused some issues with logistics. Our family trickled in over the course of 75 minutes. Thankfully, we were having the lunch buffet which was filled and refilled the whole time. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff promptly removed dirty dishes. These were major pluses in my book. Options were split over three areas. First, a cold buffet. This included things like a pasta salad, antipasti salad, Italian bread already drizzled with olive oil(weird!), cheese cubes, a green salad, potato salad and a few other things. I didn’t love this table. Next was a hot buffet. There were two soups, fried calamari, salmon, meatballs, sausage and peppers, pasta with garlic and olive oil, pasta with marinara sauce, beef in au jus and a few other things. When the calamari was fresh, it was ok. After it sat for a few, it was too chewy. It’s not really a good buffet item. The beef barley soup had crunchy barley. :-(The salmon was okay. The meatballs were okay. Actually, everything was just okay. Thus the reason for the three stars. Finally, there was a section of desserts. These looked better than they tasted. Actually, the first mini cannoli was pretty tasty. I had a second and it was not the same. It was missing the citron, chocolate chips and probably powdered sugar. It just tasted like ricotta cheese. Bottom line. I was grateful for the nice atmosphere. I don’t know that I’d rush back for another meal.
