SummerWinds Nursery

We are new to the area and on a whim I stopped here in late fall to see if there were any end of the year sales. I was ecstatic as I found raised bed kits and strawberry planters at 90% off! The staff was very helpful and friendly. I will be back in the spring for the plants to fill the beds.

Great local business where they really know their plants (indoor and outdoor), bushes, and trees. They only sell healthy plants that will thrive in your specific location. They are extremely helpful and willing to spend lots of time talking about your location, looking at photos, and even diagnosing that leaf you brought in. We bought our redbud there and had them plant it for us this spring, and it’s in great shape, even after this terribly hot, dry summer.

This place is pretty fantastic when it comes to nurseries. There is an adorable gift shop in the front comparable to maybe the Botanical Gardens.
There are soooooo many beautiful specimens of plants here that you really can’t go wrong. This would be a good place to come for a center piece type of place or a hard to find tree or shrub. The staff here is so fantastic… I underestimated how chilly it was outside after it rained and wasn’t prepared and a member of the staff got me his own jacket to wear while we shopped… A+
We ended up buying a beautiful red bud tree and I know we paid a lot more for it than at some other places but we are very happy w/​it and I know it’s very healthy. This was one of my Mother’s Day presents. :)

Summer Winds is a very customer friendly nursery and garden shop. I have visited three times in the past few weeks and find the staff enjoyable. There are two locations, one in Ellisville on Clarkson and another in Lake St. Louis.
On my first visit I was looking for a tree and the Assistant Manager helped me locate one appropriate for my yard. He even suggested in return in a few weeks when it was warmer and he might have a larger selection. That return trip happened yesterday. The Assistant Manager remembered me upon sight, knew what tree I was looking for and had a staffer assist me right away. For half the purchase price of a tree you can arrange for delivery and professional installation. The installation is not done by Summer Winds.
Inside the shop has bulbs, bird feeders, outdoor decorations, etc. There is even a table for kids to color while parents shop. There are usually women working inside and they love kids. Our boys were offered lollipops on two occasions.
I did do some price comparison shopping before returning for the tree and Summer Winds is competitive compared to surrounding nurseries.
