I must say this is one of two places in St. Louis I’ll even consider eating Chinese food from and it’s honestly the best I’ve had. Their egg rolls and Mongolian beef are the best in St. Louis but, their wait time for a carry out order is ridiculous. Even if you call in your order and wait forty minutes, more than likely will still end up waiting for another thirty minutes. Yes, I still go to the Golden Wok whenever in the area cause I enjoy the fresh and well cooked food although I make sure I have no where I need to be at a certain time. Fantastic food, just with a long wait time. Still worth it though!

I have worked in the restaurant business for over 25 years, so I am well aware that all eateries can have good vs bad nights. It happens. With that in mind, and having a craving for some Thai food, I thought I’d try this place again and give them another chance to earn my patronage. HUGEMISTAKEAGAIN. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice… This was almost an exact repeat of our first experience over a year ago. Ordered food at 445P on a Thursday night. Was told it would be ready in half hour. I asked the person taking the order if they were SURE it was going to be ready then or if they were running behind. Lady told me very pleasantly that no, they weren’t running behind or overly busy, and it would be ready in 30 minutes. So I left house and drove on up. Got there at 5:10P. There was a disgruntled throng of people in waiting/dining area. All of them were sitting on 30 – 40 minute waits they told me as I asked around. I proceeded to counter and the nice and friendly lady told me that(lied to me actually) that they had a large party just show up. A large party consisting of a dozen strangers who had all placed orders around same time? Uhhh… nice try. Being in no particular hurry, I decided to wait it out. I told her I’d pay for my food when it was ready, as last time I paid when I got there and then was stuck waiting for over an hour for food after. A younger guy was now taking phone orders and telling almost everyone who called that their orders would be ready in… you guessed it…30 minutes. At 6PM, 1 hour and 15 minutes after placing my order, and 45 minutes after being told it would be ready, I left empty handed. No food. Professional observation to owner/management. You clearly have no clue what your production capacity and/or production times are. If you are going to use promise times, you should know both and modify your promise times based on observable, factual data. To do anything else is not only dishonest to your customers, but really sets you up for missed expectations. If you are somehow trying to load balance your simple operation to deal with walk-ins and dine-ins as higher priority than pickup/to-go orders, its failing everyone miserably. But honestly, I doubt you are that sophisticated. What I think happens is your order takers just aren’t firing orders to line in a FIFO fashion, or if they are your cooks aren’t paying any attention to the order times. Frankly, I don’t know how you guys stay in business with behaviors like this. A decent iPad-based order taking and kitchen production system can be purchased for less than $ 500. It would do wonders to your kitchen organization. I’ll not be back to check on your process improvements. You aren’t worth the wait.

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years(OMG I can’t believe I can honestly say that!) and the food is always good. They’ve added Thai food in the past few years and it’s amazing. I love love love the Pineapple Noodles with chicken and their Mongolian Beef. Their Pad Thai is super tasty too. It’s always a toss up on whether I’m getting the Pineapple Noodles(or the Pineapple Rice) or Pad Thai. Also, I’m blanking on her name, but the daughter of the owners is so friendly.(I remember her doing her homework in between helping customers, but this was years ago.) She always remembers me and seems to know all of her customers. Be prepared to be treated like a regular!

I had not eaten here in 20 years(I move and don’t live here anymore) but the food was not as good as I remembered– Even worse was the service– our waitress was sweet but SO slow– took 20 minutes to get drinks even though there was only 1 other person in the restaurant– Food was OK, nothing special at all– Will never be back

I was terribly disappointed, reviews were decent. I got General Tsos Chicken. It came in basically soup substance of some liquid, water chestnuts, carrots, pepper and mushrooms. Made it soggy immediately. I’ve tried general Tsos from many 50 places in my life and this was the most disappointing ever. It came with white rice and would have been extra $ 2.50 to upgrade to simple fried rice version.

Bottom line: go somewhere else if you need to eat within the hour. These folks are extremely nice and the food is decent but the wait times are RIDICULOUS. An hour for a simple 2-item take out order is just a joke, and this has happened multiple times. These people are just SO inefficient and the food is a very mediocre result. I’m sorry golden wok but you don’t belong in the restaraunt business. We’re done with this place.

I wanted to love this place based on other reviews but I can’t say it’s close to the best Thai in west county. The veggie spring rolls were okay but the dipping sauces were phenomenal. They were beautifully arranged and wrapped. The broth on the shu Mai was exceptional but the dumplings themselves were over cooked and bigger than what I expected. The sauce accompanying them was just ok. To be fair I did get take away and they probably continued cooking as I drove home. My pad cee ew was just blah. SUPER greasy and all and all flavorless. I ordered it with a 2 heat level but there was no spice to it. There was a tub of siracha on the side but I like the chili stuff cooked in with it. I will give them an A+ for having broccoli raab instead of florets. I should knock them down another star for the greasy, flavorless noodles but the girl up front was just so darn nice. I may go back and try their traditional Chinese or curries but for my noodles I’ll stick to what I know and like.

So… You’ll go and be like, «Ugh, the wait is terrible, it takes forever, I’m never coming here again,» and then you’ll feel bad for being grouchy because they’re so freaking nice, then eat the BESTTAKEOUTFOODEVER and you’ll be back. Probably the next day.

Yummy! They are very friendly and the food is amazing. My favorite is the pineapple fried rice. The chicken is sliced perfectly and the juicy bits of pineapple and raisins along with cashews for that added crunch are a hit. Plus it comes with this sauce to pour on top. If you havent gotten it yet, try it!

I’ve been going here since my brought me as a kid. I’ve never been disappointed in the food! I typically got the Beef and Broccoli my whole life. Since becoming a vegetarian, they take out the beef and add more veggies for me with the same great sauce. Always willing to accommodate special orders. The décor has been the same for over 20 years, so if you are looking for a great atmosphere, think again. Great for take out though! Could use a bit of a «deep clean» and some new chairs for waiting for your order. Call 30 – 45 minutes before you get hungry… especially on weekend nights! Always bummed they aren’t open on Sunday.

Had a wonderful experience from the minute we walked in the door. Super friendly staff, extremely knowledgable especially when it came to gluten free options, and delicious food! We will definitely be back!

Went for lunch with my 7 yr old. The waitress was very nice and funny. She recommended the drunken pad Thai noodles. I got them extra hot and my son got the orange chicken lunch special with fried rice and 2 crab Rangoon. We also ordered vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls were ok loved the sauces that came with them. I enjoyed my noodles and my sons chicken was really good, all white meat and cooked perfectly sooooo good! Looking forward to going back and trying some more stuff.

Updated 1/2015-kept coming back because the food is GOOD. Learned to allow for wait and go take out. Staff is always very friendly. Seem to know everyone & their regular orders. Loved the food-first time dining here. Cashew pad Thai was delicious. Wonton soup was light and delicious as well. The wait. We dined in. New to area and didn’t read reviews warning of wait. And don’t you usually serve your dine in customers first? Not here. They throw you in the take out queue. We waited 40 minutes for soup. Hubs finally went up and asked. For soup? It’s in a pot waiting! Throw it in a bowl and get it out! Another 20 mins for two entrees. That came out separately. So despite good food, the absurd dine in wait lands this place w 3 stars. An hour for our meal. I was ready to eat the booth! All I heard over and over was«so sorry for the wait». Manage expectations! Don’t come hungry. You’ve been warned.

I had the yellow curry with chicken and my girlfriend had drunken noodles. Both were wonderful and some of the best Thai food I have ever had. This place is really awesome for having both Thai and Chinese food on the menu. We also had chicken satay as an appetizer. I’ve had better at other Thai places.

Large Spring rolls are amazing and the red curry was the best we’ve had in St. Louis. Pineapple noodle dish was delicious with a great mix of sweet and sour taste. Teriyaki beef was a generous order with tender beef, mushrooms and broccoli. Mango Sticky Rice was wonderful dessert to conclude the meal. We did not know there was such a great Thai/Vietnamese restaurant in West County. The owner is so nice and makes great recommendations. We are excited that we don’t have to drive into the city for amazing spring rolls and Thai/Vietnamese food! Nice variety on menu for our teenagers as well.

The food is great. I have never had a bad dish from this place. The only reason they only got 4stars is because of the wait. It’s not because of the time you wait for the food to be made but rather the time you are told your order will be ready when you place a call in order. Every time I place a call in order I am told 30 – 35 mins. When you go to pick it up the 35mins later you wait at the restaurant for at least another 25mins, no exaggeration. I would be cool with them telling me on the phone that it’s going to take an hour because I still want their delicious food. So we have learned that you should go to pick up your order around 45mins even if they say it will only be 30.

They had me at «brown rice». Spring rolls were fresh, looked good, and delicious. We’ve tried the veggie and the chicken, and the chicken definitely adds more flavor punch. Both sauces that came with it were distinct and good. Will be back. There’s so much to the Thai side of the menu that it will take us years to explore, while the kids can stick to their favorites that are not adventurous for the grownups. And they have St. Paul sandwiches! And with the Café Kabob next door, there’s Chinese, Thai, and Greek all in the same place for whatever destination your palate has in mind.

This was my first time there and a friend of mine suggested we go. Normally I suggest the places but since she brought it up I figured it had to be good. It definitely was! The waitress we had was excellent and extremely funny, not only with us but with everyone else there. It is a smaller place so you can definitely see and hear what’s going on around you. Now the food is a mix of Chinese and Thai. Oh my it’s good! I had Tom Yum(or however you spell it) and loved it. I almost ate it all but it was a large portion. If you are in the area definitely go here!

Service is EXCELLENT! Food is DELICIOUS! Been coming to this place since 2005! They recently changed the menu far as more dishes! Instead of just Chinese. they have Thai and Vietnamese. I recommend this place if your in the area. Its small place but the service will make you feel happy.
