We bussed our own table and it took 30 min to make a breakfast sandwich. They likely won’t see us again.

Crowded and loud. Coffee drinks are standard, nothing amazing. Not much seating room so there are constantly people hovering over you waiting to take the next available table as quickly as possible. Makes it impossible to sit and relax, or chat with friends. Feel like you have to gulp and go. Might try them again to just grab a to go cup, but would never go back with intention of sitting down to enjoy a cup.

Great coffee, great breakfast food! Came on a Sunday(pretty limited seating) but highly recommended even if you have to take it to go!

This place is very popular! We always stop here when we decide to go to Ellicott City. Hubby likes to buy coffee here for the house, too. The staff is adorable, the food is amazing(especially the bakery treats) and the coffee drinks are top notch! The only bad thing is that sometimes there is a long line and no seating.:(

Until today, I would’ve given this place 5 stars. It’s walking distance from my house and I give Bean Hollow a lot of business, meeting friends there often. However, tonight I had a very unpleasant experience. The staff were goofing off and making loud, obnoxious noises, and overall acting very unprofessionally. It was very distracting and annoying. I might have to start driving to Atwater’s instead.

This place is located off main street in old ellicott city. They make delicious combinations and limited editions only available during the season. I ordered a mocha coffee with ice and it was great. The barista was friendly and the atmosphere was homey.

Crowded, dark, dank,… And incredible. Probably the best baristas outside of Seattle. :-)

This café is nestled in old ellicot city’s historic district, it’s cute, cozy and hip! I can tell by sitting there observing that is where all the neighborhood hipsters hang! I was greeted promptly, and the hostess was patient with my indecisiveness. I finally decided on the chicken fajita wrap! It’s sounded yummy! Chicken, pesto, feta, peppers and onions. It was tasty, but nothing to rave about! I was disappointing in the meat, it was processed chicken, it looked good but, lacked substance! ! There was not much to select from so decided not to try anything else!

Stopped into this little jewel on a quick visit to Ellicott City. It was crowded but the service was fast. I had a salted carmel hot chocolate — perfect with the little chill in the air. They had an amazing assortment of yummy looking pastries that I’d love to try on another visit.

Very friendly service, creative and tasty drinks at a price that won’t leave you hurting. The maple syrup latte was outstanding, and my boyfriend red eye wasn’t bad either. I would absolutely take this over any Starbucks at any time.

I love this place. It has very hipster feel, it’s definitely meant for a hangout with 1 – 3(the tables have 4 seats) friends to just sit down, have a cup of coffee, and catch up. All of their coffee selections are great and their seasonal drinks are delicious. This is also a special place for my boyfriend and I so we go whenever we’re in Old Ellicott. They have a big coffee roaster(?) in the back where there 2-person table is, when it’s on, oh my gosh, it smells great(only if you love the smell of coffee). The staff is very nice as well. I haven’t tried any of the sandwiches or sweets, besides a chocolate mousse(pretty good, but you can’t mess up chocolate), but their coffee is the way to go!

I love this quaint place. I always seem to stop here when I decide to explore the shops of Historic Ellicott City. The staff is friendly and the food/drinks are great, which explains why there’s always a line extending to the front door(be prepared for a crowd on the weekends).

Recommended by local Unilocaler Queenie(thanks!), we decided to explore this unique historic neighborhood and stop in for a beverage. The service was fun and friendly and they whipped up some fine coffee beverages for us. All the way in back, is a old and functioning coffee roaster, ready to make proper coffee instead of burnt swill at another chain that shall remain nameless. Truly, this is a wonderful local spot which I also now highly recommend. I did note that the art displayed and for sale on the walls was a bit on the dark side but perhaps they rotate it periodically? Did you know the road right in front of this coffee shop is the original highway leading west? For years, people passed by here on their way to parts unknown like Missouri, Las Vegas, and California. Perhaps they stopped by here for an espresso to go? OK. Perhaps not. Then, when the B&O railroad was built, with a huge station just outside to the right(as you leave this establishment), the venerable stagecoach method of travel became obsolete overnight. Suddenly, steam trains were all the rage and the road became a thing of the past. I encourage you to also contemplate the history as you sip on a delicious beverage.

Bean Hollow! Hollow Bean? Who cares — either way, it’s delicious! This is a great local spot with excellent coffees(including Seasonal Specials) and sandwiches. Best times to enjoy a quiet Bean Hollow are 7a-8am or after peak — it can get pretty packed on weekends, but quite understandably so!

I love old Ellicott city, and I was with one of my girlfriends, so we decided to come here! Great atmosphere, the decorations are very cute and intimidate seatings, so I would recommend it to any groups, but perfect for some girl talk. I had turkey club with mayo and pesto which was so great! it had bacon in it too. I tried the mojito which has a minty flavor and the sparkles, which were very good. but I couldn’t have all of the small cup.(that’s just probably me) the employees are very friendly and nice, only down side is what every café has — price point is always a bit high for me. if it was like a dollar cheaper then I’d be hooked but it’s not there. will return though!

Bean Hollow has been a local favorite of mine for many years. The quality of food, beverages, the excellent service, and the affordable prices are why I keep coming back time-after-time. The food menu is pretty basic but nothing disappoints. I don’t order coffee too frequently here but when I have in the past I was pleased with what I received. Anyone who needs a place to stop in for a quick bite to eat or a cold/hot beverage need look no further. The staff is very friendly. I ordered one of my go-to drinks(Cherry Italian Soda) and the gentleman made sure it was made exactly how I like with no prompting from me to do so. My girlfriend and I also really enjoy the décor. The feeling you get when you enter Bean Hollow is akin to a vintage coffee shop with a rustic somewhat old-fashioned style that’s incessantly charming. It offers a small town personal ambience that big chains like Starbucks simply cannot match. And as an added perk — Old Ellicott City no longer uses parking meters. That saves money and reduces the hassle of parking nearby.

I’ve been to the Bean Hollow several times. I’ve gotten just coffee, tea, soups, sandwiches and desserts of course! THEGOOD… –pretty good hours of operation –café style food has been good –peanut butter bomb is great –staff is friendly –has restroom for customers –clean inside THEBAD… –there should be an additional spot near exit to drop off dishes and such –green tea frapp isn’t very good here –street parking can be a pain depending on the time Overall I do like the Bean Hollow. It’s worth checking out before you begin a day of wandering Main St.

This coffee place is a «throwback» in the way of its design. Its located on Main Street in the heart of Old Towne Ellicott City, and is in walking distance from the parking area that sits across the creek by a small river. The coffee choices are great, yet the snacks seem to be even greater! The latter of which was a major surprise(the coconut snowballs are a must-try). If I was disappointed in one thing, it was that this location didn’t have WiFi access. The barista indicated that I had to bogart the signal from another server at a nearby business. I know that this isn’t Starbucks, yet this isn’t a on-the-fringe Mom & Pop venue either. If the quality of the coffee product is good enough to where it can be produced on a $ 4,000 industrial machine, can’t you at least pay for an internet provider??? Other than that, I love the location, yet if you are looking for parking, you’ll either have to try across the street or get really lucky by parking on the street. Nonetheless, I like what Bean Hollow has here with its product, in addition to the cool baristas and really relaxed atmosphere.

This place is such a great place to stop for a coffee or a ice cream break while roaming old Ellicott city. The shop really embrace all that is wonderful about old Ellicott city. The rustic yet modern environment of the store makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a coffee shop custom made just for the historical city. The shop is covered with chalk art and wordings. In fact, their ice cream menu is written all I chalk. As far as the ice cream goes, they serve fresh hand dipped ice cream. I ordered the orange cream. The ice cream is perfect for a warm day and you can eat a lot of it because the ice cream is not overly sweet. In fact, the ice cream is subtle not only in flavor but also subtle in the sweetness factor. They also offer great pastries. Their pastries are huge. A coconut ball is the size of my fist. They also offer a wide range of tea flavors. The best part of this shop is that right when you step out, you are right back onto the main streets of the ever beautiful historic Ellicott city roads.

Seriously… can you say TOOCUTEFORWORDS! I loved this place — the amount of Fall flavored drinks they have is amazing and their staff is super helpful! I was so pumped that they had Pumpkin chai, I didn’t even know what to do with myself and then they also have a sandwich selection that is pretty fabulous. I am a huge fan of egg salad sandwiches and they did a great job!!! If you are in Ellicott City… stop on by for a coffee, tea, sandwich or even a beef bar — if you don’t know what it is — you need to stop by and check it out!
