After today’s lunch I have eaten here 2 times. Didn’t review 1st time because of work. Today traveling through the area on vacation. Had the special: Chili Verde, Chili Colorado & Chili Relleno, rice and beans. First off fresh made chips and Salsa. Salsa is great and spicy. Just medium in most rankings. Plate was full to the sides with tasty goodness. Rice n beans pretty average with most places, but fresh and hot. Chili Colorado was tender big strips of spicy beef. Was perfect! Chili Verde was equally good with large tender chunks of pork with fresh sauce covering it all. Chili Relenno was made with Anaheim Chili. No Poblano? Well it’s fine! Was pretty thick batter covering it but was not bad. Their house hot sauce made it all good. For $ 14 this was a huge meal. Menu is very deep in choices. Prices fair for a mining town. Always lots of food. Patrons leaving after they had ate were all carrying to-go boxes! Almost a bo-go deal. When in town check it out. If you live in Elko or close by I envy you. Great eats. Bonus today!!! Had live music. Solo guitar/singer. Just added to what a great place this is. Sure this will be a favorite place of yours

We took a huge party(30 people from 3 families) into the restaurant for a post-graduation party. The restaurant was packed, so even though we had a reservation, we had to wait quite a while to be seated. We were given our own room and our own waiter. Since there were so many in our group, we were offered the choice of ordering«family style», off the menu, or having a «fajita bar» set up. The majority of guests chose the fajita bar, and the rest ordered from the menu. The fajitas were very good, according to the Latino families and the teenage boys I brought.(I’m not a big fan of Mexican food, so I ordered off the menu). There were plenty of fixings, and drinks and churros for desert were included. I thought it was a little pricey($ 16) for the fajita bar, but I don’t mind paying for food people enjoy. The restaurant was clean, the staff was VERY friendly, and there was live music on a Saturday afternoon. The owners were right in there with the staff, busing tables, serving food, etc. Overall, it’s a really nice place and very popular with the locals.

Marginal food. Their buffet has many options, but you can tell everything is made is mass quantity. Chips and salsa were the highlight.

Don’t order fish tacos! I ordered them and it was the worst mistake! When I received the fish tacos, the tortillas were cold, and the fish was mush! It looked so gross! Actually, it WAS gross! I had to get the lime off my wife’s margarita and drench my tacos with lime to get some sort of flavor out of them! Last I came I ordered their seafood soup and that was pretty bad too. I guess their seafood just plain sucks. Wife ordered carne asada and it was good but burned. I had to eat from her plate to get full too! Very disappointed in dos amigos.

I finally found good Mexican food in Nevada! The staff was friendly and professional and we had everything we needed. The food came out fast just the way we ordered it! This is definitely our favorite restaurant in Nevada! We will definitely become regulars here!

Great food and margaritas! We are new to town and love Mexican food. They kept our glasses full and replenished the salsa as much as we wanted. Food was delicious with generous helpings! Will definitely be doing back!

I would not recommend this resturant unless you like your food pre cooked then kept in warmers and microwaved for faster service. The burnt smell and dried texture is not appetizing. My prawns were so tough and nearly impossible to get out of their shells. Only thing that tasted good were the beans served with the store bought chips prior to dinner.

A great place to have large parties! I went to this place for a holiday function with 20+ people. The food was authentic mex. and good. Our food was brought out much faster than we thought it would! I ordered a Frozen margarita which was delicious and packed a punch ;)! I ordered chicken chimichanga for my main course and the queso was perfect. However I’m used to deep fried chimichangas so this softer version took me by surprise. They had a live guitar player playing Christmas carols/Spanish ballads which really added to the atmosphere. They also have a full bar near the entrance and plenty of seating with two event spaces. A great place for a workplace get together or family event. I wish they had a better/updated check system. They had to manually separate our checks within our large party because their system wouldn’t allow it/would crash.

I stopped here as an alternative to fast food and what a mistake. Well, the bottled beer was good. Service staff are nice and they must have something good, but their salads are a bad joke. Mine was a soggy mess of mushy stuff. There is a fast food Mexican place almost next door, and if they had a bar, I would prefer their food.

Second positive experience here! My bar tender Stephen was excellent! Mellow, well tempered, and keeps his bar well! My food was the same great taste as it was last year, it’s nice to see constancy. I was there on a Thursday night as had the pleasure of listening to Billy Rose, an outstanding singer song writer. Good food. I’m glad I made it in. I had a very good experience here. A very nice young lady sat us. When I asked If she would turn on the football game, she was happy to oblige. After turning on the game she sent our server over, who was just as nice and helpful. Sorry I didn’t get your names to praise you, but you both did an outstanding job. I do have the server id#, 28. On to the food. Good flavor, good presentation(I love the whole sizzling fajitas thing.) Big portion of food. didn’t think I could finish it all. Dug down deep and got it done. Last bite was as good as the first. My beverage never went empty, and that’s a big deal for me. It’s how I judge attentiveness. The place was busy looked more like a Friday than a Monday. The staff had no problem keeping up. Good work if I’m ever in Elko again I’ll eat here.

MICROWAVED chile relleno and tamales! YUCK! I’ve been here several times and usually the food and service are good. However, during a recent visit, service was very slow. I ordered a chile relleno as a side and when it came out, you could tell that all they did was pull it out of the freezer, throw some sauce on it and nuke it. The sauce had boiled out and was cratered on the plate… typical of microwaving a sauce. My wife ordered a tamale on the side which came out with a disgusting brown sauce on it and the ends of the tamale were dried out and hard from being in the microwave. Both dishes were not edible. Our waitress never came to give refills and when she finally did, she asked if I had Pepsi. I said that I had Dr. Pepper. She came back with root beer. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our check after she took it. I didn’t look at the check, gave here a $ 100 bill because I wanted to expedite the payment. When she came back with my change, there wasn’t a receipt. How was I supposed to know if her change was correct without a receipt? She did bring one after I asked for it. Overall, she was much slower and less attentive than the other waitresses who were serving other tables, even though she only had three tables to take care of. I’ve had good food here in the past but to be served microwaved food and have terrible service is appalling. I won’t be going back.

The menu offers VEGETARIAN dishes but be warned — they use lard and chicken stock in the beans and the rice! I specifically asked my server and she assured me vegetable oil only. Dinner was served, I tried a tentative bite, asked her to check with the kitchen and guess what? The beans have dead pig fat and the rice dead chicken stock. NOTVEGETARIAN!

This was, BYFAR, the worst experience that we have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. We ordered take out which was CLEARLY a mistake. After I had to repeat my order three times to the girl working the front — ZERO exaggeration there — I should have known, but silly me… it literally took 15 minutes JUSTTOPLACETHEORDER. We ordered two burgers for the kids — one with cheese, one without(I wouldn’t normally point out this detail but the girl at the front had such a HARDTIME remembering it that I thought it must be a pretty remarkable aspect of this experience. We also ordered carne asada soft tacos for me and a carne asada burrito for my BF. Once we finally received the food, it was a MESS. The tacos were simply soft tortillas with dry, tasteless meat… the toppings — pico, guac, sour cream, lettuce — they were in a SEPARATE container, totally mushed together and a COMPLETEMESS. The burrito? One bite, two bites… yep, there’s a really off-tasting sauce in there that is very… off. It was gross. The burgers? Dry and burnt. Seriously. The fries? Cold. It was such a disappointment. We literally threw our food into the trash cans at the gas station next door. If the girl at the front wasn’t so clueless and clearly couldn’t have cared less, I would have brought the food back but if I had to spend another 15 minutes explaining to her how sub-par the food was, I would have likely lost my mind.

I don’t know what it is about Mexican… but man, I’m not sure I could care less about this style of food. It never makes my brain go «wow» or my mouth go «oooh» but many times it has made my gut go.“uuugh”. This wasn’t one of those nights thankfully. For Mexican, Dos Amigos was ok. Oh Kay. Nothing spectacular and nothing bad at all to complain about. The bar is small and intimate. I was able to enjoy a long conversation between a husband and wife about the details of their next European getaway. I could NOT not hear it. So at least I was entertained while watching the worst major sport on TV. Who watches basketball? No, I get it, the last 10 minutes are great. Why don’t we just have a 10 minutes game? Ooooops got off track. I had the Jaliscos Fajitas. That came with Shrimp(bland), beef(not cooked right), Chicken(awright), and chorizo(finally! Flavor!!). The dish was food! I also was able to get a «Top Shelf» margarita. Yeah, I paid for that one in more ways than one. No mas margaritas pour favor. So in short. I wasn’t impressed. Nothing blew me away and made me wanna go back… ever. But please take into account Mexican is my least favorite«ethnic» food choice. If you really have a craving… go ahead and hit up the Dos Amigos, I’m sure you wont be disappointed. They serve WHOLE beans with their chips!

This really good Mexican food. The salsa and chips are great. The chimichanga is fantastic, as is El Burrito.

We were on the way through Elko by long road trip and were in the mood for and ready for chips/salsa and food! The chips were great. The salsa wasn’t that great. Until we asked for the extra hot salsa– which was more flavorful. When we walked in, the place was smokey as hell! Turns out their specialty is fajitas. They did not disappoint! Great flavor, and on a traditional cast iron skillet with excellent grilled onions. The beans lacked flavor, the original salsa lacked flavor. They could be so much better. The especial margarita was awesome! No problems with service. Recommended!

Average. But when you are on the road and want a hot meal of the non-fast food variety, you pull off the highway and go to a place like this. Pricey for fajitas, which, I may say, were pretty poor overall. I was wondering if I should offer to run to the nearby grocery story to get some red, orange, and yellow peppers. Only the«cheaper» green peppers were on my plate. My family was satisfied, but then, they are ravenous boys. Oh, the décor? What the heck is a huge fountain doing in the middle of a restaurant with a chandelier hanging over the top of it?

When we needed to stop for a break on our trip, we pulled into the first exit that showed some life. Looked around and saw this place. We decided to stop on and grab a quick bite. The first thing we saw and heard was a man singing with a guitar that sounded like a cat being choked. Poor guy, he tried and I give him that. We sat down and ordered. I had a taco and enchilada combo and it wasn’t that bad. The salsa that we got was good and so was the beans that we got to dip our chips in. This must be a thing out here because I saw it at a few other restaurants we went to, but never in California. This place was your typical chain type restaurant, nothing more then a Chevys or El Toritos in my opinion, it was crowded and safe. It cant compare with a good wholesome taqueria but as long as you go in with those expectations there wont be an surprises. Our waitress was nice and very attentive and the food was above par. I was a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms. When we were in Winnemucca a few days later we saw another one, but had to pass. Maybe another time I will stop by, but it wasn’t a top place on my list.
