Ugh… baseball season. If you have small kids in baseball you know what I mean. Say goodbye to your Saturdays for a while, and be prepared to spend WAAAAAY too much time in a field at the height of allergy season. Rau is our home field and it is ENORMOUS! Tons of room for multiple baseball games at a time. Since we are still in the«Rookies» we don’t play on the actual field for now — we set up at the back of the field. There is a playground for my other kids to play on, but it is too far away for me to be able to see from the baseball field, so my other kids don’t get to use it. The snack shack and bathroom are also very far away, but I guess that is what you get when the park is so big. The worst part about this place is easily the parking. It’s a big lot, but there is one(maybe two?) entrances and when games are over it becomes a mad house. To avoid this, some people park on the side of Sheldon, but that fills up quick, and if you park on the side with the houses, you can almost guarantee yourself a parking ticket.

I’ve been coming to this park for sometime now. Mostly because my nephew’s baseball games are here. I have to say, Rau Park has 3 of the nicest, well maintained baseball fields in the Sacramento area. I could have only wished to play on fields this nice growing up. The snack bar during game days has everything you could want. Do you want Starburst? They have you covered. How about Nachos and an Icee? They“ll take care of you. Next time you’re in the area, stop by, catch a game and grab an Icee. You won’t be disappointed.

This park is well designed and well maintained. It features three baseball fields that are used by Elk Grove Youth Baseball during the spring. The park has a well groomed lush green lawn. Each diamond has dug-outs and three-tiered bleacher seating that is 12′ long for each side. These seats are not the most comfortable, so many parents bring bleacher seats or folding chairs. Two improvised pee-wee fields are set up in lawn areas that are used for soccer during the fall. There are two large play structures that have a cushy ground surface. There are also three rock climbing structures and a half basketball court. There is a covered gazebo over four picnic tables.(I think they could have used more tables, but they seem to have some open during the games.) A snack bar staffed by parents features such items as hot dogs($ 1.50), pizza($ 2.00), nachos($ 2.50), cup of noodle($ 1.00), popcorn $(1.00), and a delicious warm cinnamon pretzel($ 1.00). Behind the snack bar are the bathrooms. These are spartan. The men’s features one cold water sink, one urinal and two toilets. I have not observed any undesirable people in the park. This place is a very nice part of the local community.

This is a nice complex for baseball. There are 3 fields here, restrooms, a snack bar, and two separate«jungle gym» areas(both with padded, «bouncy» floors). There is also a basketball court and ample parking. Wanna have a picnic? There’s a good-sized gazebo with picnic tables and barbecue grills and lots of «free space» on the south side. This is one of the better venues in Elk Grove. Making it even better are the recently I stalled scoreboards on each the three baseball fields. A VERY nice place!
