Shut down. I have family that works here. They were given no warning. They also shut down the florin road location and country club plaza.

This was a really good Hometown. But I tried to eat there today and the restaurant is now closed.

It makes you give a rate of at least one star to post… doesn’t even deserve that Took my family here for dinner tonight… won’t EVERGOBACK!!! I have been in the food industry for 25+ years and never witnessed such unprofessional behavior on the front line in my life. I witnessed the manger and several of the kitchen staff(all females with long hair) play with their hair over uncovered food and rub their hands acrossed their nose/mouth never once washing their hands before touching food trays!!! One staff member even picked her butt and continued working. Makes wonder what goes on behind the scenes??? Yuck!

We tried this restaurant 2 times now, breakfast and lunch. We are on a diet so we are always looking for healthier options. The salad bar for lunch was good, a lot of variety. However, we were very disappointed for breakfast. Only cantaloupe and orange slices for fruit. That was it! Also the eggs, I’m sure were not real, almost tasted like the powdered kind. Also, The worst coffee I have ever had… and only orange juice was offered for a juice option. VERYDISAPPOINTED.

This review is about the experience, not the food since I already knew the food would be subpar. Plates and silverware are dirty so you need to wipe down before you use. The floors are sticky and make your shoes stick to the floor. The booths are dirty with salt and I had to wipe them myself. And how pleasant is it that after all that, you see the dusty window sills and dead nats. I get that they run a large operation and it’s difficult to keep up on everything, but come on! The one good thing is the menudo, but good luck getting a bowl. It’s constantly running out and staff don’t pay close enough attention to replenish. And most people come here for family time or because, like me, there’s someone in the family that likes the food options or convenience. If it were up to me, I would never come here again, but sometimes I have to to spend family time.

We have been coming here for a long time. It used to be OK– not awesome food, as buffets seldom are outside of a casino or cruise ship– but decent, tasty, hot food that is reasonably fresh. Maybe their management changed a few months back, or the company is trying to cut corners, but the food is absolutely horrible. My 5 year old wouldn’t finish the French fries– which is never a problem anywhere else. The selection is nowhere what it once was, and the food seems like it doesn’t get rotated or replaced. Dried out, bland, old food. At $ 36 for the three of us, the price is a premium– but the food is anything but. We hate the atmosphere at the Golden Corral near Cosumnes river blvd– but the price there is about the same, and the food is much, much better. Great selection, love the steaks and desserts. I will never eat at this hometown buffet again. It’s just plain gross. Save yourself the experience– head over to Golden Corral(or McDonalds even, would have been better)

If it was possible to rate this lower i definatly would. First cold food and they are not even busy its 230 when we came. Secondly really fucking roaches!!! I and my daughter were horrified whe. We went into the restroom to see two live ones and one they were eating. These were obviously adult roaches. When informed the manger and showed her exactly what had us so sick all she could say was oh i had this placed already sprayed i dont understand. Seriously! I couldnt of gotten my family out of there fast enough 30.00 wasted due to fear of eating contaminated, cold food that they wernt even one bit worried about. Please at all costs avoid eating here.

Went here for lunch today(sunday), $ 30. This wouldnt be a bad price for 2 people IF the food was good. Giving 1 star for friendly staff, 1 star for clean restaurant and 1 star for the food presentation. Food was bland, meats and rice overcooked and deserts tasted like dollar store snacks. Too few items tasted good at all(mashed potatoes with gravy roast beef in gravy and ham), this is not from a lack of trying as i made a point to try a little if everything. Be better off removing the food from this place and just making it a social club as the staff, appearance and cleanliness are the only things i could see being of value here. If youre hungry for a buffet and in the elk grove/south sac area, just go to golden corral by calvine. Same pricing, MUCH better food.

We came at what we thought would be peak dinner hours(a little after 6pm). The food was absolutely disgusting and old. Even the salad was old, limp and had a funny taste to it. I asked for new broccoli and the cook mumbled something rudely and walked away. Extremely disappointed that I wasted my money here.

My kids love the Mac and cheese and the corn dogs and the Icee’s here. As long as they keep these items on the menu, we will continue to come occasionally. I’m a bit of a germ-a-phobe so it’s sometimes difficult to see the plates that they use with all the cuts and scratches on them — seems as if they would never get them clean, like we are eating old leftover food deep inside those cracked plates. I just try to ignore it and go with it! I like the fact that they have plastic forks and spoons out for easy access. that also helps to put me at a bit more ease in terms of being at this place. The food on the buffet is not always hot and fresh however if you grab someone and ask them to bring out a replacement that is fresh, they are always happy to bring some out right away. The manager is friendly and he often takes the time to go around and thank each table for dining there which is a nice touch.

Don’t EVER bring your kids here. This place has things to lure your kids for example, unlimited slurpees and ice cream. This place is purely disgusting. Never coming here again.

I came in on May 31st2015 and I will not be back. I know buffets are not supposed to be fancy gourmet food, but you do expect a few basic things: i.e. staff to be friendly and speak English. Only one staff member spoke to us, the cashier and he was great. The others didn’t speak to you or even make eye contact– I had to speak to them in Spanish to get questions answered. The salad bar was poor– the foods were not rotated– this was evident by the black spinach leaves at the bottom of the pan. The other vegetables didn’t look anywhere near«fresh». Many of the foods in the pans were dried out or just plan empty. They didn’t close for 45 minutes. I didn’t even see anyone who resembled a manager around. If I had I would have reported it. Given the poor experience, I will not be back. I have informed corporate and I hope they do something.

This particular time the food was atrocious. Very old, left out and never replaced with fresher food. Everything was very overcooked and disgusting. Worst visit I’ve ever had here. I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon. The manager needs to do his damn job, he obviously has no interest in pleasing customers as the food is visibly awful and he does nothing about it. He needs to be canned and the Chef needs to learn how to fry a piece of chicken, how do you mess up fried chicken 5 separate times? Any«chef» who can’t fry chicken needs to find a new field of work. Waste of money, thanks hometown buffet, I left hungrier than when I arrived. Disgusting food with nobody who gives a Damn to fix it.

LOL Oh buffets… love them or hate them. I’m the kind who would be happy as a clam to try a bite of everyone’s meal during a dinner party. However, that’s just not ever going to happen because I like to keep my friends. :) Buffets offer me that opportunity but what buffet is ever a foodie’s paradise? That in mind, I liked the bite I had of most things and to have only spent $ 12, it was a fine experience. Hubby and son were in food comas by the end of it though. They’re a bit easier to please. Haven’t been to Home Town Buffet in over 15 years. Back then, I remember they had a lot of choices. This one didn’t have that many choices. Seemed very small and random selections of food. My uncle, aunt, and I came here on a Saturday around 5:30 to 6:00PM, somewhere around there. It was not packed. Service was good, but food was dry. It’s what I expected from a buffet place, so, I’m not dinging the buffet place that much. Dessert was disappointing though, really dry and no flavor to the mud pie and other sweets. Overall: Good price, great service, ok food.

Very disappointing. We hadn’t been here Ina long time. Won’t be back. Most food was dry. Mash potatoes runny. Husband did like fried chicken. The pecan pie was good. Only fruit was pineapple & orange slices. Poor selection of food. Display was very nice. Food easy to get too, but just not worth getting. Drinks were $ 2.49. For a small glass. We were there at 12:39. And not a lot of customers.

Came here on a Sunday night around 7:30pm. The restaurant was fairly packed but died down quickly as 8pm hit. All the food were still hot and fresh, which was great compared to other buffet restaurants that stop making new food after a certain time near closing. I’m surprised this location only has 2.5 stars. I believe it deserves more than that. The food selection was decent and tasted pretty good. I got my steak craving satisfied with AYCE steak, as well. :) I’ve always be excited for the drinks selection offered here as silly as it sounds. They have a hot drink machine(coffee, tea, hot cocoa), sodas, Mexican-type drinks, Icee machine, along with milk and juice. The service was very good as well. Our server always stopped by to clear out unused dishes for us so there’s always space on the small table. Overall, this location has never disappointed us, the last couple times we’ve been here. Definitely coming back.

I went here with my boyfriends parents because they had some coupons they wanted to get rid of. I have not been here in ages, so I was expecting the food to be average. Their selection of food is pretty sparse and the quality of food is below average. I was only able to eat two plates because my appetite was not feeling the food. I’m sure you can find a better AYCE restaurant someplace else that has better quality food and more of a selection. Their service was great on a different note. They cleared our used plates almost instantly and always asked us if we needed anything. Its quite a shame that this Hometown Buffet feels like a Chucky Cheese. I wish people would tell their children that this is still a restaurant, not a playground.

This one is way better then the one @ Florin according hubby and our 7 y/o daughter, even their orange sorbet machinevhas been out for awhile. Btw, kids still eat for 99 cent on Thursday night, but the coupon price going up $ 1.00 more and now they have a new rule if you used coupon you need to buy a drink, so I have to pay $ 2.99 even only drink water.

Now I’ve never been a very big fan of Hometown Buffets, but on a recent visit(please note the visit was forced), I decided that HTB deserve at least 3 stars. The reasons? 1. The staff was really friendly & picked up our plates quickly 2. With all the HTB coupons, it makes such an affordable meal 3. THEYSERVECOTTONCANDY. I really love cotton candy. & the only times I’ve had access to cotton candy were either fairs or basketball games or the rollerskating rink, and at all events, they average about $ 5. So just the fact that HTB serves cotton candy, bumps up a star for me. :) Overall, the cotton candy won’t be the deciding factor of me coming back, but I do respect HTB for having such a treat in their menu!
