This place isn’t what it used to be. The service was good to begin with, but after we received our food we didn’t see our server until he brought the check. Sadly I can’t even say the place was busy. The cabbage salsa was good and flour chips were burnt. The chicken in my tacos did not taste fresh at all. My friend ordered a flauta but it looked like a rolled up taco instead of a how a flauta should really look. Sadly I can’t see returning here again.

Came here with my boyfriend for dinner about a month ago. Everything was really good(food, service, etc) until later that night my boyfriend started puking and having bad diarrhea. He had a carnitas burrito so maybe it was the meat? I didn’t have any meat in my dish since I’m a vegetarian but I still felt a little sick that night, maybe it was just from watching him be sick though. I’m not sure, maybe their carnitas were nearing the end of their expiration date or had been sitting out? I have been here many times before and have never been sick myself or had anyone I went with feel ill, but just wanted to throw it out there as a warning just in case.

Very good! Great customer service, seriously delish cabbage salsa, and flour chips. You also get a tomato based salsa and corn chips as well. I love their taco, it is seriously so wonderful! I get it crispy. They enchilladas are wonderful too and their coca cola tacos(you may ask for light onions though because they load them up). They have this really good avocado dish which is so good, its like fajitas on an avocado!

Salsa has no flavor no kick no spices very bland. Same with the chimichanga very blah, Spanish rice no flavor BLAH! When you eat at a Mexican restaurant you are expecting a spice a kick of Latin heat. I am very disappointed and won’t return.

Went in today and ordered garlic shrimp tacos with rice and whole beans, hubby ordered the carnitas torta with fries. The food looked beautiful when it came out and tasted delicious! Service was great as always! This family restaurant is by far my favorite place when I want quality Mexican food!

I went here with my sister and she had nothing but good things to say about the place. I gave them a call to let them know we’d have 8 coming in. They set this up beautifully and had everything ready for our group when we arrived. That’s when things went a little south. We initially had to flag down someone to take our order. Our food took around 30 minutes to arrive, which is fine for decent food. The problem with the food, when it did arrive, was that 4 of our plates were cold. We brushed it off since we had waited so long for the food and the kids at the table wanted to eat. Our server disappeared after this and didn’t refill water during the meal. We tracked a server down and got a refill for the water. According to my sister, this was more of an isolated event. My food tasted fine, so I left the review at a 3 star. The service and overall quality for my party kicked off 2 stars.

I used to like this place, but things have gone down. Ordered fish tacos today. Got a 3×3 spindle layer of fish and a giant hay stack of head lettuce, a little shredded cheese, bland guac. A shit ton of beans and rice, bit alas, I was there for the fish taco. Oh well. Maybe it was a bad day.

Tried this restaurant a while ago for my birthday. They were really busy with that being said, our waiter was ok. Over all good experience my hubby got the enchiladas which were delicious. I was not so lucky with my plate, got tamales. Neither of us cared for the salsa which was a bummer. It was a date night so I was pleased at the end of the night. We might go back to give another try on a weekday. When they would be a little slower.

Having lived in the area for several years, we stopped by recently for the first time. Had a coupon for half off entrée with purchase of another. Servings were generous and food was good, although I would say my burrito special was heavy on the cheese which made it «heavy». Unless you are a very big eater, I’m pretty sure you will be taking home some leftovers. Overall I would say 3.5 stars but will round up.

Mole chicken enchiladas are great, if you like mole then you will like this place. I also like another favorite, chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Good chips while you wait too.

Salsa is a bit bland, the flour tortilla chips were good tho. Pollo caldo, with corn tortilla and a side of lime… Yummmmm. Some of the best I’ve tried. Healthy and delicious, shredded chicken a big surprise in the soup, and enjoyable.

Really good! Especially for the price. The staff was really nice and came by to check on us often. The food was delicious, especially the homemade chips and guacamole. It was also nicely decorated. The only problem was the booths by the windows, they are extremely small. For a normal size person it’d be ok, but I’m pregnant so it was difficult. The other booths looked a lot bigger though. But I just made it work :) Still loved it!

Sofia was our server just now and she is AMAZING and we had the full order chicken nachos and the cheese enchiladas and the food we ordered was awesome. Sofia is very personable, friendly and her customer service skills are second to none. This was our first time going here and we will definitely keep coming back.

It was a cool morning approaching noon and time to have some lunch. Why not Mexican food for a change. That sounded good to my significant other so we ventured to the other side of Old Town Elk Grove on Elk Grove Blvd. and ended up in the Bel Air shopping center at the corner of Waterman Rd. and Elk Grove Blvds. El Jardin was located directly across from Bel Air. Now this was my first visit here and did not know what to expect. First of all, the outside of the building is very inviting and looked pretty new. Once inside, you felt like you were in Mexico with the elaborate interior design and artifacts. It was nice and comfortable with high ceilings and very, very clean. We were seated in a booth by a very polite gentleman. He handed us the menus and said he would be right back with ice water. Looking over the menu, we noticed the usual Mexican fare and I opted for my favorite… Beef and Chicken Enchiladas, one of each, which was accompanied by the usual refried beans and spanish rice. The meal was very good and I really enjoyed the flavors. The chips and salsa were also very good. My wife ordered the Chicken Tostada which was very large and she agreed that it was good enough to order next time around. With the plethora of Mexican restaurants in the Elk Grove area, one has quite a selection, but El Jardin is at the top of the list. The service, I might add, was excellent. I never had to ask for anything, the server was very attentive. Try them out some day for lunch or dinner… Olé!

What I really wanted was bean dip, and I saw that El Jardin had this on their menu. It did not disappoint. The bean dip was really good! I also liked that they serve flour chips along with the corn chips to go with their complimentary salsa. We asked for more and they gave us more. Our server was really good — attentive, quick, and accommodating. We really appreciated his work. Beyond the chips, salsa, and bean dip, the food was pretty good but not special. I had enchiladas and a chicken taco, and neither was among the best I’ve had at local restaurants. I think we will need to come back a few times and try different entrees to see what they do really well. I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars. Need more information!

I don’t often have a one star experience, but I can honestly say there was nothing positive other than the flour tortilla chips. Two of us came to eat on a Monday afternoon. We were starving upon arrival and were seated quickly… Our server didn’t come to take our order for about 20 minutes and we got our meals 40 min later. So, we hoped for amazing food, and… nope. The burrito supreme is covered in canned, disgusting enchilada red sauce, beans are runny… we also had a chicken taco plate, but there was no flavor to the meat! The taco shell was good, but I had to use multiple spoons of salsa for flavor. I frequent another Mexican restaurant in our area that is 5+ stars and was hoping I could add another delicious restaurant to our list– not this time.

I’ve been holding off writing my review for this place because I’ve only ever ordered take-out. I dined in today for the first time and this place never seems to disappoint! My usual order is the shrimp enchiladas. Super tasty and satisfying. The portions are actually quite generous here. You get a huge salad, your entrée plus their chips and salsa. I love the cabbage and salsa they provide with the chips. I am a big enchilada person and today I tried the chicken enchilada which was a part of a $ 6.99 lunch special. Again, very tasty. My only negative was that I felt the chicken was a bit too salty. Even so, I still enjoyed it. What I really love about this place is the service. When I first started ordering here for take out, the staff is always very friendly and helpful with suggestions. They are a very enthusiastic, yet professional team. Always polite and quick. The service today wasn’t any different. I was very impressed with our server. Overall, I will definitely keep coming back since it’s close to home, food is tasty and service is great. It’s not my favorite Mexican restaurant, but it’s definitely an awesome spot!
