Josh and Kevin catered my Retirement party for 100 guests! OMG! The food was awesome! Home made rolls to use in the build-your-own sandwich stations. We had Thai Curry Chicken and Banh Mi Pulled Pork, along with appetizers of Curry Soup, Pork Belly, and fruit. They were so pleasant and engaging, kept the food fresh and warm, and no one left hungry. Thanks, guys, for a great way to help me celebrate!

I’ve come to realize that food trucks are not cheap, however if the product is good, I am willing to shell out the extra cash for quality ingredients and good taste. However $ 9 for the quality of the White Belt Burger was not worth it. It is the size of a Krush Burger(which is suppose to be mini, but is a bit larger imo) and is simply a bacon cheese burger with a kick of «asian» spices(hard to describe, but it didn’t taste right to me). Would have liked the burger to be larger and less dry. It was flavorful but I didn’t care for the taste.

This was the worse case of false advertising ever. The $ 12 Vietnamese Loaded Pork Sandwich in the picture is loaded with onions, green onion, egg and pork. What I got was a pork slider, the size of a macdonalds kids burger, with none of the toppings listed. When I brought the sandwich up to complain, the chef said, «we don’t do that anymore.» Well don’t waste your money if you don’t want a 2 oz pork slider for $ 12.

I was able to try Dojo Burger for a second time when they revealed their new truck at Dutch Bros Elk Grove a few months ago. My Korean burger wasn’t as moist or flavorful as I would’ve hoped. If I would’ve updated my review that day, I would have probably went down to three stars… but my most recent visit tonight at Food Truck Mania in Old Elk Grove changed my mind! Dojo Burger had a contest on their Instagram(@dojoburger) for a free meal, so I thought I’d enter for fun. Why not, it took less than 30 seconds to enter! I never win these things so I didn’t expect much. But I ended up being one of the two winners so I drove on over to old Elk Grove after a long day to grab some food. I decided to go a different route since I didn’t enjoy the burger too much last time, so I picked the Thai curry chicken sandwich, which also came with a free drink and fries! Wow it was GOOD! Better than good actually — it was warm and soft, had the right amount of crunch thanks to those pickled radish and cucumbers. The sauce was perfect — I’ve never had anything like it. Tasted just like a bowl of Thai curry and it wasn’t too soggy nor too dry. I would definitely come back for some Dojo Burger thanks to today’s experience. Their contest definitely made me a fan again despite my last burger. Thanks Dojo!

Dojo burger food truck… they were very elusive but yet I manage to take advantage of where they would be located at just recently at the ever so popular Dutch Bros in Elk Grove. This particular food truck doesn’t seem to go where the SactoMofo food truck events throughout town that it makes it hard to follow them locally. I wasn’t sure of what to order that we went with the Dojo Burger & the BBQ Pulled pork sandwich which was what the gal behind the counter was raving about. We asked that they cut the two sandwiches in half and take them to go as well. There really was no place to sit there at Dutch Bros as they already had a line of people outside for their drinks plus a line of cars too! We felt that the Dojo Burger was better than the pulled pork flavor wise. It was kind of strange as there were no sides like fries or chips or tots… The burger was 11 bucks and the pulled pork sandwich was 9. Probably a bit pricey as there are times when one can get a burger for under 10.00 with fries or something. Hopefully they can get hooked up with another business like they have in the past like Baker’s Donut which instead of using their tasty bun they sub with a flavorful donut. OMG I could have gone for that. Maybe next time? We shall see…

I’ll give this sweet & savory attempt a 4 out of 5, and call it a «Douger»(doughnut + burger) .it’s either that or «Burnut», which just doesn’t sound right. Vietnamese BBQ Pulled Pork($ 9) — slow roasted pork, garlic-ginger aioli, over easy egg, onion strings &BBQ Banh Mi sauce served… on a scrumdili-yili-yumptious maple bacon donut ~ When I caught wind about this new«dojo» in Sac supposedly mastering the art of the burger I was definitely intrigued. I love me a hearty bite of juicy meat, crunchy toppings, and melt-in-your-mouth cheese and sauces in between a perfectly charred bun *SIGH* just as much as the next famished carnivore. Then, when I heard about them collaborating with Bakers Donuts I immediately tweaked my weekend to accommodate their mash-up on a Saturday lunch. This collabo could be as awkward and disastrous as LL Cool J & Brad Paisley’s «Accidental Racist», or surprisingly as rousing as Rob Thomas & Santana’s «Smooth» .the verdict? «Party All The Time» by Rick James & Eddie Murphy — meaning, you might get down to it at a party, inebriated and ready to make poor decisions, but it’s unlikely to make the cut to your daytrip playlist. A lot of people, including myself, might thoroughly enjoy the eff out of this«burger», but it won’t necessarily make the default craving anytime soon. The donut was good, the meat was good, but«Hmmm.I feel like a donut AND a patty!» .nope. Some outrageous combos just don’t work; we can’t all be like banana ketchup(doesn’t make sense, I know, but I love it, and if it’s wrong then dang nabbits I don’t want to be right!). After three extractions and two weeks of Jamba Juice smoothies and Peony Palace soup, I’m not only ecstatic I can unlock my jaw again like a hippo feasting on a 4-foot tall child, I’m also relieved I’ve gained back full sensation to my taste buds and overall palette. This«burger» was a legitimate welcome-back, away from the numb sipping, slurping, and partial chewing. Will I try it again? Yea, sure, why not ~ next month, maybe. For now, I’m merely going to Bakers for donuts, and Dojo for their burgers. I’m warranted only one deliciously bad decision a month, and I’d gladly bob my head to the tune of this creative concoction. Cue«Party All The Time»
