Use to visit here frequently for lunch, but tried to call in an order today, phone was disconnected :(- did another restaurant bite the dust in this location?

I really hate to give a local place such a low rating, but it wasnt good at all. It prob deserves 1 star, but i will give then 2 and hope they can improve. We ordered the nachos to start, chips were freshly made, but there was no cheese on the nachos, very dissapointing… hiw do you serve nachos with no cheese, also very skimpy on other toppings Also had the kids pizza, crust was chewy and almost like a flatbread… not good. Had the caprese steak sandwhich. It was good. had onion rings with the meal and they seemed cold and not very good. They brought me another order and they were better but were still strange tasting. The fries are good. Freshly cut. my wife had the chicken sandwhich and it was very bland. Needless to say i will not be back. they have alot to learn. Did i mention that at 6:30 on a Friday night the place was empty, that should of been the first sign. to turn around and walk out…

I am not sure how this place got 4 stars when the food was very mediocre. When we sat down a Baby spider landed on our table! Went here for lunch and our order took long for some reason when we’re the only customer there. My friend got a grilled chicken sandwich and it was under cook so we had to send it back and then my other friend ordered«nachos» and it was the saddest looking nacho I have ever seen! It had canned black beans with no flavor, watered down cheese and a bunch of lettuce… All that for $ 9 bucks! My burger was the only saving grace but stay tuned because I felt sick afterwards. This place could have potential since it looks like the inside was newly renovated compared to the outside. TIP: the cook and the menu needs some work. The price is not worth the wait. We could’ve gotten a value meal at steak and shake. Sorry will not be back.

This kind of a divey bar and grill is right by my office. A few co-workers went there for lunch and I tagged along. This recently opened under new management. While I had not been to it under the old owners, I was told it was similar in appearance. Their menu is not large, but it did have some good choices. I had a burger. And, I have to admit that it was very good. It must have been a full ½ pound and came with fries. The fries were okay. But the meat used in the burger tasted very good. The ambiance is like that of an old hunting lodge. It is dark and has a large fireplace in the middle of the room. Fortunately the fireplace was burning as the heat was not working on that cold, cold day. We stayed bundled up all through lunch it was so cold in there. I debated whether to give three or four stars based on how cold it was. But, I came to realize that(1) the service was okay and the waitress friendly and(2) the food was good. The fact that their heater was out was probably just poor luck. I would go there again, but to be safe, I will wait for a moderate day — not too cold just in case their heater is still out and not too hot in case their air conditioning does not work…

Recently my wife and I decided to try Salt Creek out after seeing a write up in the Daily Herald and favorable Unilocal reviews. We were both excited about supporting a new local business and went in with an open mind and an empty stomach. First of all, our service was great! Our server, Lisa, was very enthusiastic and attentive! Lisa and my beer were the only high points of the experience. I want to preface all of the following as feedback and not criticism, in that I want a local place to succeed. Salt Creek is divided into a family dining area and a bar. I liked all the TVs on the Friday night sporting events but the 80s hair band music didn’t fit the clientele at 7:00pm on a Friday night and the volume level was just on the cusp of annoying and making it hard to hear much.(Save that music and volume for the later crowds) First my wife ordered the French Onion Soup and I ordered the regular nachos. The nachos were disappointing all around, it was simply shredded cheese melted on chips and lettuce and tomatoes sprinkled on top. The chips on the edges of the plate were slightly burned and the cheese on the bottom was still not melted. Only the chips on the very top had cheese and once you got past that there was nothing. When I asked my wife how her soup was, she said the nachos were better so I left it at that. Next was a pizza and the Fish & Chips that came highly recommended. I am not sure if the Fish & Chips were over cooked or just cooked in old oil, but neither came out very good. The fries were already cold when they came to the table because it was the first thing I tried. The fish didn’t really have any flavor and the breading almost had the taste of burnt toast that I was constantly using my beer to chase away the flavor. I tried the garlic aioli but it couldn’t save the taste of the fish and I don’t think tartar would have help either. I asked my wife how the pizza was but she insisted I try for myself. We were warned by 2 separate people it tasted like cardboard, I hate that analogy because I always thought it was too far-fetched. I took a center bite and the bottom crust was rubbery and chewy. My wife insisted I try an outside piece and I agreed with her, extremely dry. We were happy and impressed with the fresh veggie toppings but that was about it. I might return for drinks and the burger came highly recommended. I do wish Salt Creek the best of luck and maybe after some more time, we’ll give it another try.

Went here for a Saturday night quick meal. It was a really pleasant find. There is a bar separate from the dining area. The had a nicely decorated room with a fire place in it. They have pizza and sandwiches, salads, and a menu consistent with a pizza place. They also have a pretty nice sized beer selection. I had a meatball sandwich, which was awesome. My wife had a burger, which she said was also very good. It was not chaotic for a Saturday night, and there was no screaming kids, which was a plus. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu, and with drink recommendations for my wife. I believe that this is a place we will put in our rotation. Really a great experience.

Had a not so good experience the first time I visited but they had just opened gave it some time and went back. I would like to report they got the kinks out. The food and service was awesome and at a great price. The manager/owner was on top of things and we will return. Elk Grove needed this place. Closed now sad

Went here on a whim this weekend as it’s close to home. Were seated right away even though it was about 7pm on a Saturday. Hostess was very nice. Waitress was helpful and always available. Wanted to try to the pizza but not for dinner, so we tried a small margarita pizza as an appetizer. Good crunchy crust and great taste. I had the Salt Greek Pub Burger which had candied bacon and onion marmalade with an over-easy egg on top. It was pretty good. Onion rings seemed home-made. My husband had the meatball sandwich, we he enjoyed. Both entrees included more than enough food. They also have a great on-tap menu. My husband was able to try 4 or 5 good beers on tap in the time we were there. The place was clean, as were the bathrooms. It was a bit noisy due to a large table of kids when we got there, but the hostess sat us as far away as possible and when the kids left, it was nice and quiet. There was a fire going in the fireplace which was very cozy. Apparently when the new owners bought the place they added a wall in the middle to separate the bar from the seated area. I feel it was a nice addition, as the bar area seemed pretty crowded. We’ll go again. I’d like to try some of the appetizers!

Amazing. Wish I could give them 6 stars just because this place REALLY stands out. I really only have two words that should entice you to check this place out: candied bacon! It’s so delicious! But of course I have more than two words to say. This place is a little bit off the beaten path, but it’s not far from the elk grove theater. It’s an excellent«dinner and a movie» destination in its own right, but even more so when you consider how sparse the restaurant selection is around the theater. I recommend going with some friends you’re comfortable sharing food with OR preparing to go several times(several times is recommended and you’ll agree once you’ve eaten here). The only problem I had here was deciding on what to order: it all looked so delicious! Thanks to the fact that I dined with some friends and we all sampled each others food, I got a good variety of tastes. The fries are fresh cut and perfectly seasoned so that I didn’t even want to use ketchup(and I love ketchup)! Though loading them was definitely an awesome decision. The waffle fries are also awesome. But the onion rings are to die for! They’re a little thin, almost a cross between onion rings and onion straws, but the flavor far outshines the lack of body. The burger was also amazing, perfectly seasoned, tender and mouthwatering. I had the one that comes with the candied bacon and an egg. Frickin delicious! My friend had the pulled pork sandwich which was also mighty tasty. As a side note, I really appreciate the drink option of life water, since I don’t drink soda or alcohol. It was refreshing and washed everything down well. I couldn’t have possibly eaten dessert, but they don’t have much of a dessert selection yet. But I know they’re still new and have been experimenting with their menu, so I have faith that dessert will also be awesome soon. The atmosphere is really nice. They’ve got a super cozy fireplace, nice tables and plenty of space. And the fresh flowers decorating the ladies room was a nice touch. But the ladies room was freezing! Understandable since it’s near the door, but brrrrr! The service was excellent. We were lucky to come on a Monday, they were a little slow so we got plenty of attention from our server who engaged us in casual conversation. I’m looking forward to visiting again. I hear they’re exploring a karaōke night and balloon animal entertainment in the future!

The person at the front didn’t know how to do her job, had to walk around the entire pub just to tell me it was going to be a 15 min wait and there was 3 tables open. Didn’t even speak good English, they probably hired her with no experience at all. Bad dirt impression, I left after that

This is a nice addition to Elk Grove Village in the former Pope’s Pizza location. We have been there twice in the past 8 days and have enjoyed everything we ordered. On our first visit, we had a «white pizza»; garlic purée, cheese and roasted mushrooms. It was delicious! It had a perfect crispy, cracker-like crust. We started with the Tower of Rings which were very good. On our second visit, I ordered a cheese, roasted garlic and olive pizza. This pizza wasn’t as good as our previous pizza. It should have been in the oven a bit longer since the crust didn’t have that crispy texture as the first one. Another diner ordered a cheese and sausage pizza which was excellent. She let me sample a couple of slices and it was very good! They claim that their sausage is «homemade» and it is definitely better than most. My wife ordered the veggie tacos. She loved them but they are small. These mini-tacos should be considered more as an appetizer. Speaking of appetizers, we started with the garlic jumbo shrimp. They are well prepared but you only get 8 shrimp. For $ 9, a little too pricey. They have a thoughtful selection of craft brews and wines. Unfortunately, they don’t offer beer/wine lists so it’s difficult to know what you are ordering. Sure, you can walk up to the blackboard next to the bar and see the selections but a) they don’t list what the beer styles are and b) they don’t list any prices. You could order a $ 10 glass of an average Cab and not know it. Just a suggestion, but print beer/wine cards for each table describing the selections with price per glass. Service on both evenings was outstanding. Jannelle and Cheryl were very attentive and did a great job. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the owner Scott is ever present and stops by to say«Hi». I like this place and wish them all the best.

Had a great night with the family here on one of the coldest nights! It was warm and cozy by the fire and candlelight– kids had great pizza, burger and fries, and an amazing balloon artist(Wednesday) for entertainment. We had each had sausage(handmade there!) with peppers appetizer. Delicious! We plan to return after the post holiday diet to try some fried foods, which smelled fabulous.

Great new neighborhood spot that is getting its footing on the local scene. Perfectly cooked burgers and hand cut fries are the must-try menu item. The staff is friendly and the owner, Scott, is always around to ensure that everything is perfect. A great new addition to the old Popes location.

Our server, Lisa, was very helpful and sweet. I ordered a vegetable panini without bread, and loved every bite. I will return with more friends, soon. I am glad to see a restaurant back in this space. The upgrades inside are quite nice.

So thrilled that Salt Creek has finally opened! Elk Grove has been lacking an upscale casual place with great food for a long time. I ordered a burger and my husband ordered the fried cod. Both were outstanding. The fresh-cut fries are unbelievable. The owner and staff were all super friendly! Definitely plan on becoming a regular!

We had a great experience visiting Salt Creek Pizza & Pub. Not quite a gastropub, more like an elevated pub food w/a chef-driven menu. The website photos make this place look like it leans a little more towards a restaurant, but it definitely has a pub atmosphere throughout. Big screen TVs fill the dining area and the sounds of fun at the bar echo throughout. This is not a negative, you just need to know what you’re getting into. Service was attentive and friendly. The tap selection was outstanding(especially if you like IPAs). Food was delicious, with a good diversity to choose from, and a lot of creativity shown. Fresh ingredients, well prepared. We’ll be back again to work our way through the menu — burgers, pizza, pasta, wings, meats and more.

The meatball sub was seasoned perfectly and the cheese logs were unlike anything I’ve had before. This was the third time eaten here in two weeks. Everything that I have had was made from fresh ingredients and looked great. The chefs are professionally trained and it shows on every plate. The kids meals were only $ 5. They have a great craft beer selection on tap. We really appreciated that Scott, one of the owners, made a point to introduce himself. The wait staff was also very friendly!

Arrived to be told that the restaurant would be closing at 8:00pm as they ran out of food. how do you run out of food being a new restaurant… not a good way to start your new business, marking this place off my list… waste of time
