We always make plans to eat here when we are in Elk City. The food is amazing and also a great value. There is so much of the same ‘ol thing in Western Oklahoma. Shrimp Salad with goat cheese and a blueberry jalapeño margarita? Yes, please! But if you want a burger or chicken fried steak, they are great too!

Grilled Salmon Salad! Little bit spicy salmon, tangy goat cheese, sweet strawberries and pineapple … WOW! It was so tasty! Beer in frosted mugs, fried green tomatoes … Everything we ordered was wonderful and the service was perfect.

Found this place on Unilocal when we were stopping for the night is quiet, quaint Elk City. First off, the décor is perfect. Cozy, modern western. Very welcoming. The place was full of locals… always a good sign. Wait staff was very friendly. Attentive. Knowledgeable about the menu and bar. Great local brew available. The food was off the hook! Delicious! We tried a prairie burger with fried green tomatoes, a bistro chicken with seasoned fries and the salmon on a salad which was the special. It all was soooo delicious! Not a complaint to be found.(And no matter what you choose… get a side of the house peppercorn ranch dressing… a little piece of heaven) Oh…and the price… UNDER $ 50 for a ton of yummy food(fed three hungry adults) a beer and sodas. I nearly fell over. Going forward, anytime we travel through OK… we will stop here:)

Passing through on New Years Eve and glad they were open. When I arrived I was one of only a handful of customers, but it quickly filled up. The had a special salmon salad with pomegranate dressing. Excellent.

A must stop!!! Food was amazing, service was wonderful and fast! Made a quick decision to stop for some hot food, looked up steak houses on Unilocal, reviews set the standard high, and we were not disappointed. If you are looking for amazing steak, great ribs, and a great atmosphere, stop here! You will kick yourself later if you miss this place, seriously! We ordered the ribeye steak medium rare, Brussels sprouts, salad, sweet potato fries, and carrot cake and it damn near blew our faces off, like holy crap! We even ordered seconds after we finished our meal to eat later in the hotel. Side note: we are traveling from Indiana to San Francisco, via the 40. This place is a must stop!

I didn’t get to try the ribs here but I got to try their sea scallops and shrimp. You can choose from either rice or pasta with this dish. I got the pasta and it was okay. Just regular pasta. The scallops were tiny. The shrimps were a little better. I also liked their corn firtters. I would come back to Prariefire if I were in the area. When we were here, we ordered takeout since we were on a road trip.

Stopped in Oak City on our way from NYC to LA. The staff was funny and inviting. The pork chop is amazing. The salad had waaaaaay too much dressing on it so I would recommend getting dressing on the side. The margaritas are yum as well.

So good! Perfect stop on a long road trip. They have local brews, and I highly recommend the Mustang wheat if you like wheat beers. Comes with a frosty mug right out of the freezer. Wanted a light dinner, and the beef wedge salad delivered. Make sure you like vinaigrette, however. The sweet pecans do not cut the acid as much as expected. I love vinegar, so the flavor was perfect for me. Wait staff was extremely attentive and helpful, even making suggestions if requested. Overall just a wonderful stop, and I can’t recommend it enough. If we come back through the same way at a decent time, I will definitely stop back by!

In a word, DELICIOUS!!! My dad and I stopped here on our cross-country road trip and it did not disappoint! I had the ribeye with loaded baked potato and whole-fried okra! The ribeye was cooked to perfection, the baked potato had crispy bacon and the okra was perfect! The atmosphere of an old train depot and service rounded out the dining experience! If you’re in this area, it is a must-eat destination!

Location of Prairiefire is on one of the main drags not very far from the Interstate, hence we decided to try it after reading some of the reviews on Unilocal. The restaurant is in an old railroad depot, and although space is limited, they use it very well. The evening that we visited, their air conditioning was being repaired so the conditions were not ideal. However, every member of the staff did a great job taking care of their patrons. We arrived just about 6 o’clock, so the dining room was full. Many of the patrons appeared to be familiar with each other, so I assume they were locals, as they were visiting from table to table and with the staff. That made for a longer wait, since they were in no hurry to pay their bills and move on. I had the Blueberry Salmon Salad, which is not something I expected to find in Oklahoma. The greens were fresh and the salmon was awesome. My wife had the Shrimp Pasta which she enjoyed. Our server was very good. Not usually ordering dessert, I opted for the Pecan Cobbler with Vanilla Ice cream. It was delightful. Overall, I thought the restaurant was well worth the visit.

It is so nice to be able to stop while on the road at something besides fast food restaurants and chain restaurants. We had the Chicken Caesar with wonderful croutons made from corn bread and also the special blueberry salmon salad. It was wonderfully different and delicious . Less then 5 minutes off I 40. Very nice staff, excellent service. We stopped for lunch but the dinner menu Looked equally intriguing.

Well, on a road trip from AZ headed to OK, we stopped at this cute town and went to this restaurant. The entire family liked what they had with the exception of the burgers. I had a steak sandwich which was pretty good. However, the best thing? The kids pasta with some type of white creamy sauce similar to Alfredo — ummm, amazing! We all liked that the best. I believe they said they had another pasta dish that was similar and not on the kids menu — get it, that sauce was fantastic! Great service too. Oh, and the Bloody Mary was superb!

Just passing through and checked out the area for a good steak place. This place came up as one of the front runners. When we checked into the hotel I asked the front desk person(Sleep Inn) and she recommended Western Sizzlin. Between Unilocal and Trip Advisor reviews I I stuck with my 1st instinct. We were welcomed by a very nice attendant that seated us and told us our server would be Amy. A young lady came by and we assumed she was our server and asked is we wanted anything from the bar. I asked a beer question she could not answer and out of the blue came my guardian angle. Amy showed up to save the newbie server. Can’t fault a 2hr old employee as there is a lot to learn. Amy and Ashley took great care of us and was very personable which made our visit very enjoyable. I had the ribeye, smashed potatoes with all the toppings, seasonal vegetables, salad with the house dressing plus an extra side of corn fritters. Carrot cake for desert.(I would have preferred it cold and not microwaved). Everything was great. YES! I will be back when I am in the area again.

Stopped in almost completely by accident. My family and I were on a road trip across the country for the holidays and we stopped in Elk City to buy my youngest some socks and underwear(which he’d left at home in California– he’s 11… so, there you go). It was nearing dinner time and there wouldn’t be much on the long road ahead(I-40). So, we searched Unilocal for restaurants nearby. Prairiefire had received some great reviews, so we thought we’d give it a try. So. Glad. We. Did! First, it’s in an old train depot. Very cool! Second, they have friend okra on the menu. Now, I am a certified personal trainer and very conscientious about what I eat. I don’t often crave fried foods. But, when I do… fried okra tops the list! If I was going to go down that road, I decided to go all the way and order the barbeque pulled pork sandwich. I was not sorry. Not even a little bit. It was EXCELLENT! The coleslaw was so unique and truly perfect. Had hints of what tasted like apples and cinnamon. Our server suggested I use it to top my sandwich. Flavor explosion! It was not particularly expensive, but more than we would usually spend on road trip fare. Still, worth every penny. Not ready to give it five stars just yet(since we only visited the one time). But, we make this trip once a year or so. We’ll definitely stop by again. If Prairiefire continues to deliver, I’m pretty sure five stars is where this is headed. And, I don’t just dole those out to anyone. Ha!

Prairiefire! What a find! We stopped in here while traveling down I40. So we glad we did! Prairiefire is in an old train depot complete with high tin ceilings! Our server was great! Very happy and enthusiastic! The food is clean and fresh! We shared a small Gathering Plate made up of an apple, strawberries, grapes, pecans, almonds and our choice of 3 cheeses. This was a most beautiful cheese plate! Because I knew that would fill me up I got a house salad with the house parmesan dressing. The salad was perfect! My hubby had the steak wedge salad. A large slice of iceberg topped with steak tips a dusting of cheese and nuts. I tried a tip and yes! It was yummy! The warm freshly baked bread with cinnamon butter… wow! I really enjoy finding places off the beaten path that I wish were right around the corner! Prairiefire is that good! Stop in, you’ll be very happy you did!

3 of us dining in, 2 of us had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans the other person have to chop steak with gravy and mushrooms, Green beans and baked potato. The salads had wilted lettuce, the chicken fried steak had absolutely no flavor and the breading was so thick it look like a funnel cake, very tough and tasteless, the green beans had a flavor of food from the refrigerator. The mashed potato’s were average, service was horrible. Avoid this place. Some of the locals later told us they are surprised that they were still in business.
