I was told about this place and decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did. I got the chicken enchiladas and carne asada taco on corn tortillas it was very good. The salsa was very good as well. It is hard to find good Mexican food around I will definitely be visiting this place again.

Another nasty Mexican restaurant. I remember trying this place out and I ordered some huevos rancheros and they gave me tomato soup on top of my eggs it was watery it was all over my plate so eggs n side were floating basically. I immediately rejected that crap and told the No Thanks you I’ll go some where else! These fools then threatened to call cops on me lol! I was like wow for what? I laughed and left. Never again

We decided to finally try this place and now we wish we had a long time ago. The staff was friendly and attentive and even though they were quite busy we were served our food quickly. My husband had the huevos rancheros and they were amazing. He especially loved the fresh salsa. I had the chilaquiles, they were very spicy, but worth every bite. I’ll probably ask for extra sour cream next time. We will definitely be coming back soon. :)

This is hands down the best place to eat in Elgin. Consistently great food and service. The saying«don’t judge a book by it’s cover» def applies. The curb appeal maybe lacking, but the Tex Mex is not!!!

I never make a trip home to Elgin without stopping at Azteca. Food has been great for the 20 plus years I have dined here

I don’t know why we haven’t tried this place til now, but glad we did. We were looking for someplace on mother’s day for a late breakfast/early lunch. We were driving by this place and decided to stop. First off, the service was amazing. I didn’t catch her name, but she was great from start to finish. She has only been back a week but she was doing a great job with how busy it got. I ordered one pancake. It was too large for me to eat it all. It was pretty good, not the best, but good. The coffee was great! Roomie had the chicken tortilla soup. Except for one problem he said it was one of the best he had. The problem was they put the tortilla chips in it already instead of serving on the side. This makes them very soggy. The taste and the chicken were amazing though, so he could overlook that. Nice little place to stop and have a bite. Very inexpensive too.

Delicious, cheap, simple, and no fuss. The closest thing to Tamale House I’ve found in Elgin or Austin.

One of my go-to spots for breakfast Sunday mornings. I suggest the quesadillas sincronizadas, chips and salsa, and coffee. Breakfast of champions I tell you. For the lunch and dinner crowd the fajitas and carne guisada are solid. Queso is also pretty cheap, like $ 2 or so for a small. They also stock Mexican coke which is a plus! Give them a try folks!

My son and I stopped in on our way to Austin. I passed it up the first time but doubled back and stopped in. I had the beef fajita plate and he had the carne guisada. He told me it was the best he’s had. The fajitas were perfect as well. The hot sauce for the chips was awesome! It’s small with tables and chairs and diner booths. Great prices, friendly service, and great food! Definitely going to stop in again next time we are in town. [ note: doesn’t accept AMEX but other cards are fine ]

I like to eat at Azteca about once every 4 to 6 weeks. The chilaquiles taste great, but since fried food gives me heartburn now, I have to make other choices. And there are so many good ones. My current fave is their huevos rancheros, very fresh and delicious-tasting. I can also say that the cheese enchiladas(with plenty of freshly chopped onion on top) are fabulous. And the real splurge for me? The Father George Special. I don’t remember the number on the menu, I just say, «I’ll have what Father George has.» And what comes to the table is a large, thick, oval corn tortilla with carnitas, grilled onions, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, cheese and chicharones piled on top. Spoon some of Azteca’s hot sauce over the top and you’ve got a great meal. It’s beautiful on the plate, too. Don’t look for a fancy, aesthetic interior, and the outside looks like an old gas station. But you will find good, uncomplicated Tex-Mex food that is fresh and tasty with very reasonable prices and pretty darn good service.

Heading back to Houston we Stumble into this place thanks to Unilocal app. I must say from the looks of it, it is not the finest place but the food was really good. The most expensive item in the menu was the fajita platter($ 15.00) which includes chicken, beef and shrimp. Along with tortillas, rice, lettuce & tomatoes and guacamole. I truly love the freshness and the fresh avocado. Don’t forget the salsa and chips. My boyfriend love it. The staff was very attentive and courteous. If you are swinging by Elgin please try this place the food is great and even greater in your pocket.
