Old school barbershop– they treat you right. Marteen is the best barber I’ve been to– and I have been to Turkey where barbers reign. Great price and attention to detail– I will be back when I am in LA.

Great vibe, vintage barbers chairs (one is from 1911) and a fantastic haircut! Got a haircut from Marteen on Friday and I am still smiling! These guys put a lot of time and effort into your cut and use a straight blade to trim your neck. Highly recommended.

I’ve recently started going to Xavier at the Traditional Barber and I’m hooked! Everything about the experience is great. I like the shop look and atmosphere. Relaxing vibes with the Jazz music. I have had a beard for years and have been upset with both other barbers and my own attempts to make it look good. No worries now! Xavier is a pro with the clippers and a razor. I usually have an issue with ingrown hairs on my neck after a close shave but not anymore. The hot towel and lather before the straight razor shave makes all the difference.

Just got my 3^rd haircut from Marteen so it’s time to show some love. Marteen is a fantastic barber that really knows his craft. He takes the time to understand exactly what I want and executes it flawlessly putting a lot of time into the fine details. He’s got a very positive attitude and makes me feel very welcome each time I’m there. He responds almost immediately to my text appointment requests and informs me if he is a little behind schedule. I’m really glad my previous barber shop treated me poorly otherwise I never would have found Marteen (see other review). Do yourself a favor and let Marteen hook you up with a stylish new doo…

Xavy is my go to barber. Clean cuts. Clean fades. Always leave here feeling dapper. Kinda wish I could be selfish and not blow up this spot. He even allows you to schedule online days ahead which is tremendously convenient.

I found The Traditional Barber because a neighbor of mine was passing by me while on a walk. His hair stood out from everyone else’s passing by, it looked so clean, well brushed, shiny & sharp. I had to ask him where he got such a nice, dapper cut. His hair was something out of a movie. He told me went to a guy named Xavier down the street in El Segundo. He advised me to make an appointment because the guy was always so busy, I simply walked in and got lucky, he told me there were 2 customers ahead of me and to come back in about an hour. I came back an hour later and let me tell you. The guy is a blacksmith when it comes to hair. He gave me the freshest cut I’ve ever had, so tight, so clean, so dapper. Now I get stopped when I walk down the street by people passing by asking where I get my hair cut.

Came here on a thursday evening and there was no line. Marteen was awesome cutting my hair. My new go to barber.

Been going to Xavier since he opened up in El Segundo. He absolutely gives the best haircuts in the area. Great craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Xavier and his shop are the best in El Segundo! Hands down. The shop has a cool, retro, unpretentious vibe. The music is always great and Xavier (and the staff) are thorough, professional and have an amazing eye for detail. I have been a regular customer since September 2014 and have never had a bad experience. I started bringing my son here… best style ever! I’ve lived in El Segundo for over seven years and have tried literally every place in town in the hopes of finding a barbershop that could provide consistently good haircuts — I’ve finally found it! I’ve had either Marteen or his partner cut my hair and/​or my son’s hair a few times now and they’ve all been great. Unlike many of the other places here in town, they take PRIDE in doing a meticulous and thorough job every time — when was the last time you went to a barber who knew how to use a straight-​razor!?? They appear actually engaged in what their doing, take their time and make sure you’re satisfied before you leave the chair. Give these guys a chance — it will be your new regular place.

This barber shop is excellent. It’s a small place with an old-​school, mellow vibe. It’s tucked away on a quiet street with a nice view of Southeast El Segundo. Xavier is awesome. He takes his time and puts great attention and detail into his work. I am lazy and know nothing about hair. I usually only get a haircut every 6 months. I wanted to try something new (an undercut) but other than that I had no idea. He was really cool about my complete lack of knowledge and patiently explained all the options, walking me through the haircut styles and the different ways to trim my beard into the cut. I told him to use his better judgment and do what he thought best and am very happy with the result. He answered a ton of my questions and was very insightful. Would recommend to anyone for the quality and atmosphere.

Xavier has reached out to me and offered me very generous compensation for his employee’s action. Let me make some clarifications now that I’ve cooled down a bit. 1) The haircut itself was actually pretty good. The fade was even and graduated nicely. 2) My review was about a single employee there. Not Xavier or his establishment. 3) Calling his barber shop a «hole in the wall» was cruel on my part and I officially apologize for that. The barber shop itself is actually quite nice and its small size makes it feel cozy and personal. Has a really nice vintage feel to it. 4) I should have spoke up while I was there. There was a few opportunities that I should have said something (especially when I saw that electric razor).
That being said Xavier has offer to give me a haircut and shave again and I will write another update once that happens. For now I’ll update my review to three stars due to Xavier’s outreach.

Marteen is the MAN! I came to this barber shop through a recommendation and I was not disappointed. I had an idea of the style that I wanted and it would be the first time getting this style. Marteen made me feel comfortable as soon as I sat down in his chair. The way he maneuvered his shears through my thick luscious hair was magical. He’s like the present day Edward Scissorhands. He ended with a razor shave and I left with a clean cut and a hard part. The classic barber chairs comforts your booty and it feels like you’re sitting on a cloud. This shop has a professional team and I will definitely be back every time I’m in town. Actually I’m going to move to LA just to get a haircut from Marteen.

This review should have been done a long time ago. I started coming here soon after Xavier opened in 2014.
Back story: I was looking for a haircut and remembered that there was a barber shop on Richmond. I liked the previous owner and hoped she was still there. To my surprise, it had closed and was under new ownership. I needed a haircut and there was no wait so I decided to try it out. And have been coming here ever since.
He finishes each haircut with a razor shave. And I noticed that he also does facial hair shaves and I was interested as I had never had a straight-​edge razor shave before. I was totally impressed! He does a hot towels massage, then oils and shaving cream before using the straight-​edge. Nice and smooth afterwards.
The ambiance is simple hardwood floors, white tile and brick for the walls. It’s small, only three chairs, quiet and peaceful. A nice relaxing haircut.

Xavier is the barber at this place and the guy is such a professional. Has a simple, clean classic shop. He goes above and beyond to satisfy his customer. I recommend making an appointment because otherwise you might be stuck waiting in line as people are usually waiting for him to finish a haircut.

Stopped in to get my face cleaned up. I blown away. All the professionalism one should expect from a legitimate barber. Clean, classy, comfortable environment. I will most definitely return.
