I was happy when Stanley’s Spring & Suspension took me in(without an appointment) for same-day service. I was having a very simple add-a-leaf kit installed on a Jeep Cherokee. My mistake was to not ask them their labor/day rate prior to leaving my jeep with them. When I was finally contacted to retrieve my Jeep, I was told the job(installing an add-a-leaf kit with heavy-duty hardware and U Bolts) would cost me more than $ 515.00. No one at the business could explain to me why I was being charged more than twice the anticipated rate and not a single person there(4:30PM) made any attempt to break down the costs to explain how they arrived at the total. They simply said, «our boss is gone for the day so there’s nothing we can do.» There are no labor charges listed on the bill, just a flat rate for the add-a-leaf install($ 150.00) and an additional charge($ 300.00) for the re-installation of the springs. The difference is overpriced hardware that they installed without contact me or informing me of the additional cost. I left with a very bad taste in my mouth. I have since contacted three(3) separate local garages that conduct this repair/install and inquired about the price they charge for this job. All three(3) informed me that based on the work I described, they would charge me between 150 — 250 less than what I was charged at Stanley’s. I DONOT recommend taking your vehicle to this shop for any type of repair. Horrible customer service, incredibly over priced, and no concern about keeping a customer. I feel like I have been scammed. I’ll service my vehicle elsewhere and tell my friends and co-workers to do the same.
