The food is good. Wow. I had a Chamoyada and it was my first time ever eating anything like that. I know nothing of Mexican delicacies and candies so I’m a complete newbie. I really liked it! It was pretty spicy but then again I can barely eat one hot Cheeto before my eyes water up from the overwhelming fire ball in my mouth. I only know what the Chamoyada is on the menu so I’m not much help on anything else. However, the customer service is lousy. It’s usually a young girl working by herself. I’ve walked in a couple of time and the girl will be on her phone, look up, take the order, make it and that’s it. No small talk, no smiles, no thank you. Its more of a «here, take your food and leave.» I really don’t expect much to be honest. I just want my Chamoyada.

Ok so full disclosure, I know someone who works here but dont let that discourage you from continue to read on. The selection of candy and snacks is like no other in Sunland. I mean I didn’t even know where to get a Mangonada in El Paso before I came here. And if you haven’t had one before, then come grab one. Its frozen mango chuncks mixed with icee, a spicy but sweet sprinkle, and a straw covered in Lucas candy. Basically, if your missing all the sweets n snacks you remember getting on the bridge back from Juárez or if you never got to experience the international experience, then you need to stop by here! The decore, well if you have never been to Juárez or don’t go south of the border, then you won’t get it… basically they aren’t afraid of a little color in other parts of the world and this spot really shows the flash. Could it use a little touch up, yeah but considering kids love places like this, you can’t expect perfection. Oh and the gift wrapping service is amazing and reason enough to come! Have a fancy gift that you want to show off before it’s opened? Well get it wrapped here. Doing last minute Christmas shopping and craving a Mangonada and don’t know how to fold a napkin, much less wrap a gift ;-), then come here! Got all mine done before I finished my mangonada! Now, time to impress the misses by taking credit for it ;-) haha

Working at the Sears in Sunland Park Mall gives me very limited lunch options, but luckily Ooh Lala Gift & Things is one of the few places I can grab a bite at. I haven’t bought anything from the«gift» section, but it seems to just be cards, gift bags and balloons. You know those little pop-up shops that you find here in EP? The ones with the Hot Cheetos and cheese, elotes, and other Mexican munchies you find yourself craving at the weirdest times? That’s the menu you’ll find at OLL. I always get the elote(corn in a cup) and the carne with Valentina’s(beef jerky with hot sauce… yummmm). The food they have available is chalked up above the register and pricing is decent. It’s nothing extravagant, but it’ll suffice. Think ice cream truck food. You do have to spend at least $ 5 to use credit or debit, but it’s not that hard to rack up a tab. The candy though. A-okay! There’s a plethora of different Mexican candies in buckets and stacked on tables. You really can’t go wrong with Mexican candy. It’s rare that I don’t leave with a bag of candy and a Lucas. But the colors, maybe I’m just not feminine enough, but OLL is so girly it makes me want to puke glitter. But hey, maybe you’re into that kinda thing. Actually the whole painting scheme doesn’t make sense to me because OLL is really just a Mexican candy store. I think the idea was pops of bright colors, but it just reminds me of my friend Cortney’s little sister’s room when she was 13. But whatevs, just pick a wall you like and stare at it.
