I eat the veggie rolls only, and they were good, but not many choices. I had the veggie dragon, which was really good, and the Oshinko-Maki(sweet pickle, basically) which was very one note, not my favorite. My husband had fish, said it was fresh(which seems to be the biggest deal for him), and really enjoyed them. They really do make the plates as pretty as the pics you see here… very inventive on that score. Would have been a 5 if they had more choices for veggies.

I decided to try this place on a whim since I have become underwhelmed with Sky Sushi in EDH. I read all the other reviews on Unilocal and almost everyone had great things to say. We decided to eat at the bar and were immediately greeted by our server who was the sweetest thing ever. I love how their menu breaks down rolls by the type of fish that are in them. They have free yummy little crunchy things to eat while you are waiting for your food. My husband and I ordered the Perfect Rainbow Roll, and two others that I cannot remember the name to. They were AWESOME!!! We will definitely be back for more:)

Fresh and delicious sushi!!! This restaurant hits the mark on every level. The fish was cut perfectly, it just melts in your mouth, big pieces but you can bite right through them. The red rose roll is like no other sushi roll we’ve ever had(and we eat A LOT of sushi) it has no rice or seaweed, the crab, scallops, and masago are wrapped in tuna, then 3 yummy sauces on the plate too! And to top it all off, all the sushi rolls were half price! We will be back, thanks for all the friendly service!

Came here tonight with the family after we couldn’t get a table at Sky sushi and I must say that all the rolls we had were great. Everything was great from the garlic edemame to the teriyaki chicken. Vip roll was the hook and the favorite at our table, but sunset and lion king were good too. Don’t pass on this place!

For sushi rolls. Thought I’d go back and try their rolls. The spider roll must have been hiding in the tempura batter((supposedly shrimp). I did not see nor taste it. The mayo sauce drowned the roll. The other roll was salmon. The salmon pieces were sliced so very thin and slobbered with TWO mayo sauces. Not good. First off, couldn’t tell if salmon was fresh. I had to scrape the mayo sauces off the rolls. Not good. Disappointed. I’ll stick to their Bento box instead.

Love the Salmon Fan, the crispy things they give in the beginning and the customer service is very nice. My husband loves the beef udon soup.

Total gem. Hope this place doesn’t bite the dust. This is my go-to for takeout lunch. I always order the same thing because it’s so freaking good I can’t bring myself to NOT order it. Salmon fan combo; salmon maki roll and 4(!!) pieces of salmon nigiri and comes with soup or salad. It’s like $ 11 bucks! I am self proclaimed sushi purist and I was surprised that a strip mall sushi joint had such good fish. Tell your friends.

The restaurant is spotless… The Sushi is everyday fresh and the Chef has 2, that’s TWO Michelin stars… Very affordable. Best I have ever had, hands down… It takes time to create perfection… well done!

Finally, a sushi place that I want to return to in the EDH /Folsom area! The fish was fresh! The Rolls were delicious! $ 2.50 pints during happy hour! The service was a little slow, but I’ve come to expect that at good sushi places.

Great little place for sushi and draft beer. Will definitely be coming back to try all their favorites. Draft beer for usual Japanese beers and a couple of domestics.

The sushi here are excellent without overkill of sauces. I prefer the subtle tastes of sushi without too much sauces which tend to overpowering.

My husband and I just moved down the street from Umi. We love sushi, it is our one splurge. I have been there twice in 12 days. The rolls are fresh and the happy hour specials are great. I am looking forward to trying all of the rolls on the menu. Except the ones with octopus… I don’t do octopus… I will post more later.

I usually go for sushi at Folsom or Sac, but this time my friend suggested this one at El Dorado, which is surprisingly good. We got the 10-pc sashimi for only $ 13.5(lunch special), and the quality was very impressive. Huge slices that are fresh and creamy! We also got the shrimp tempura rolls and wasabi rolls, both of which are decent. The server was also very attentive.

My fiancé and I really enjoyed this place! The rolls tasted fresh and came out quickly. On top of that, the presentation is awesome here. We didn’t really like the lobster roll, but I think it just wasn’t too our taste… I’m sure other people really enjoy it. The only negative thing I can say is that the service at the table wasn’t that great. The waitress was nice, but seemed a little overwhelmed, even though there were only a few customers in the restaurant. Maybe it was just an off night for her. We will definitely be going back to try more of the sushi rolls.

Food & service are high quality: –slices for sashimi & nigiri are substantial, definitely more than other sushi restaurants in the greater Sacramento area –they make monkfish liver taste so good(I’ve tried it before at another place and wasn’t inclined to try it again, but thank goodness I did try it here) –good lunch deal of BOGO half off for lunch rolls(doesn’t apply to the special rolls) Tip: sit at the bar and ask the sushi chef to make you something good

This a pretty awesome joint for sushi. We walked in during happy hour and our pints were only $ 2.50. The service was friendly and the food was fantastic. Started with a appetizer of yellow fin tuna sashimi and it was generous and cut well. For my entrée I ordered the Umi Roll(shrimp tempura, spicy tuna) avocado, Unami, eel sauce and spicy mayo topped with black tobiko. This was a wonderful roll. The contrast between the deep fried tempura and the avocado and Unami was superb. Also a flavorful sauce. Good times!

This was only my first time at this establishment, so hopefully it stays as good as it is right now. This is the place that has been a revolving door of sushi restaurants in el dorado hills that have all gone under. Every time a new one opens, I wonder if the curse will claim them too. Often the restaurant is gone before I get a chance, this one is still open today, so here I am. How friendly and delicious! I would love to see some seared ahi or bbq’d albacore on the menu, but I am a firm believer that menus can always evolve. I’ll maintain faith. That said, I hope all the people of el dorado hills patronize this place at least once and make up their own minds. But with dwindling fish slices and subpar service at local competitors, this one is a breath of fresh air. So please, edh, I implore you, come and enjoy.

This restaurant just opened and is a replacement for Chiyo Sushi. The problem with Chiyo before was the service even though the food was very good. Also the ambiance was not very good. Unfortunately not much has changed with the new owners. The food is very good but the service needs some work. And they did almost nothing to change the ambiance. The staff is more attentive but hard to communicate with and they messed up our order on one item and forgot another item. It is a shame because they had a good chance to impress being new. But they did not. They did apologize several times for their mistakes but I feel they should have done more like a coupon for a future visit or comp some of the food. They did comp the food item they forgot but that is useless because we were full by the end and not really into taking food home for Oh the water they brought to the table came in Styrofoam cups. Maybe they are still working out the kinks. We will give it another try as the food is very good and I hope they can get it worked out as they were nice people.
