Very delicious subs! Fries are delicious. I recommend getting a steak sub with fries! That is what I got with soda. Great service and delicious food. They made me happy. 5 stars for them!

I have been coming here for awhile now and I love it! The food is delicious and made quickly if your on the go. The crew is so friendly and helpful. It’s a small but comfortable place. The inside decorations are funny and interesting. All around great place to get some grub.

Cheap in Meat! I ordered a cheessteak and paid for extra meat. I was very disappointed. It was like an onion and lettuce sandwich and the meat was just a garnish

I decided to stop by for lunch after I craved a hot sandwich, and I wanted to find a nearby mom and pop shop. I came across this place on Unilocal. The parking lot is small and tight, having only 11 parking spots. Just be aware of that. I love the look of the dining room… I like the posters and pictures all over the wall. Definitely an awesome diner look. The Gentleman at the register was friendly and informed me that folks from Philly enjoyed their sandwiches, showing me t shirts and hats that were given to them representing cheesesteak joints in Philly. Absolutely I decided to try the regular topped Philly Cheesesteak. I made it to-go, and man it looked super tasty when I opened it at home. It was. A 10 inch sandwich disappeared within 10 minutes. I used sriracha sauce and jalapeños to make it even tastier/spicier. My only change to this sandwich would be to get rid of the mayo… It isn’t really necessary(for myself at least). I wish there was more meat too. Never-the-less, I recommend this sandwich shop as a place to try in El Cajon. Thumbs up for tasty sandwich! Note: check in on Unilocal to get a $ 1 off your meal!!! Oh, and you can call in to order for pickup. :)

Went for lunch around 2pm on a Monday. The place is tucked away behind the El Cajon Courthouse with a decent amount of parking but the lot looks like it’ll be an absolute pain to get out of if it were busy. Cozy, cool décor, couple TVs tuned to ESPN. Ordered the Original Philly Cheesesteak 10 inch. Only 1 person ahead of me and my order took a little under 10 minutes. Very good amount of meat, seasoned nicely but kind of dry. Lack of other toppings made the sandwich taste kind of bland despite the seasoning of the meat; not nearly enough cheese, cheesesteaks are supposed to be almost dripping with it. All-in-all decent sandwhich but not worth the almost $ 9 price tag in my opinion.

Don’t get me wrong the subs were great. I was really turned off by all the fruit flies by the soda fountain. I ended up returning my fountain drink soda for a bottle. Keep the place clean or you won’t have this problem… Makes me wonder what goes down in the kitchen. I’ll probably be returning one day hopefully to not see this problem but other than that the subs were great

This place has a great sandwiches, I shared a large chicken Philly with green peppers, onions and provolone cheese(No avocado). The Philly cheese steaks here come with avocado, I’ve never heard of avocado on a Philly? I guess it’s a California twist;) Back to the sandwich– the large side is enough for 2 people to share. The flavor was great but it could of used more meat and less peppers, or maybe I’m just being a FAT @** and will order extra chicken next time. Overall good sandwich! The fries are steak fries and had a nice seasoning. I used my Unilocal check-in and received a dollar off my meal. Parking was right in front of the restaurant. Cute décor inside with a few tables and tv’s.

I have been living here my whole life… People always talking about this place but I have never been here… Finally I decided to stop cause I had my window down and smelled it and boy did it smell delicious the smell hit the spot for me anywho I got the philly cheese steak with the works when I asked what was on it there was peppers onions and mushrooms witch to me are the toppings for the perfect philly then he continued to say lettuce and avocado and mayo and mustard and I don’t even know what else but I was like no thanks lol damn us Californians we put everything on everything lol… Needless to say this philly was amazing… As I was scrolling through the menu I was searching for something super spicy like a super spicy sandwich but of coarse nothing ughhhhhhhh… Yes they had jalapeños and peppercinis but they were tame as hell no heat what so ever… Maybe u guys could come up with some habanero mayo or something to that effect witch really doesn’t cost that much but could make a different impact on ur menu… That’s just me and my thoughts either way u guys have been successful for a reason and I see why… The customer service was good once he asked ur name he used it to give me my order to say goodbye I didn’t feel like just another guest… Anyways thanks for listening and maybe the habanero mayo would be a hit I know it would bring me back hint hint either way I’ll be back don’t know why it took me so long to go here see u guys soon…

Anyone that knows me personally knows I am not the biggest fans of sandwiches. In my ENTIRE life I’ve only known of a handful of places that I will eat a sandwich from. I’m happy to say, this place is added to my handful of places. When I walked into the place I noticed that the A/C was not turned on… if they had A/C that is. That was the only problem I came across the entire time in this establishment. While I was discussing the heat in the place the ice machine attached to the soda dispenser started spitting out ice cubes on its own. As if to tell me, «Since your so hot, here’s some ice cubes to keep you cool girl!» Polite Ghost possessed ice machine? I can dig it. The people that worked their reminded me of people that ran family owned Italian restaurants. They all knew each other and treated everyone that came in like close friends. It was a nice environment. When I finally got the Philly sandwich in contained steak, onions, mayo, cheese and lettuce. I took a bite of it and to my surprise my taste buds fell in love. My tongue was going all up and down that sandwich. From the way I was making satisfied sounds I’m sure people around could be convinced that I had some sort of sandwich fetish… Over all, This place is the business. And if you love Philly sandwiches, you’ll love it here. That’s coming from someone who isn’t the biggest fan of sandwiches.

Love it here– food is delicious & the people are friendly. What else can you ask for? Later hours maybe. So I can get my late night fix:) I can’t complain though that a business appreciates work/life balance for its employees– I actually like them more for it. Keep doing what your doing guys and we’ll keep coming back:)

tip: check your order carefully before leaving. Phillys are always yummy, but your order is/can often be a little or a lot wrong as in tonight’s visit. Last time the Philly sandwiches were a little different than ordered, but not a big deal. Tonight I ordered an original Philly and a chicken Philly with the works plate. What I got was dry chicken, some cheese, pepper, onion and a couple of mushroom(missing the avo) on FRIES. Ugh.

Good Philly Cheese steak. Haven’t been back in years. Still the same solid sandwich. I was impressed that they had steak fries! That was an old-timey blast to the past. They were hot and salty! The works Philly was full of thinly chopped beef and covered in cheese. The onions and mushrooms were well sautéed and broken down full of sweet flavor. Well done! I’ll be back in the future.

One word: QUALITY. This was a random quick eat my boyfriend. We wanted to eat before hitting up the Viejas outlet… Right off Mangolia street on the 8 interstate. Can’t miss it when you’re driving past it — they have a huge sign. The dine in had a lot of clash going on and what I mean is there’s a lot to look and read to keep you occupied with their posters and quotes hanging on the walls. The food? The Philly cheesesteak had so much flavor and you honestly can’t go wrong with adding mushroom and avocado(The Works). The bread was freshly warmed up and a bit crisp… The toppings with to go with the meat were such a huge compliment to the whole sandwich. I plan to come back here again and try the rest of the selection!

Great place in east county for phili cheese steaks. If you want to save time order online. These guys take pride in their work and will take their time to make it delicious. Expect to wait about 10 to 15 mind from the time you order(assuming you’re in front of the line) They don’t use whizz, but make up for it with delicious cheeses and avocado. Give Em a try. You’re gonna like it

Husband found this place tonight when I told him I was craving a good philly cheesesteak sandwich and that I needed to have it NOW(I’m 6 months pregnant). After reading the reviews and seeing the photos other Unilocalers have posted I was sold and picked it up to go after I got off work and let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. I got a philly cheesesteak with just peppers, onions and cheese(I’m a square, I know) plus an order of fries and it’s probably the best cheesesteak sandwich I’ve ever had. We will 100% be back here(probably quite frequently if this baby has his way). I’m quite eager to try their philly fries!

Wow… What a waste of time and money !! This place has absolutely ZERO idea of what a Philly cheese steak is. There is NOMAYO on a Philly Cheese steak, and definitely NOAVOCADO. Why avocado? Because we are in Southern California? You guys are idiots !! The meat was absolutely tasteless, and there was more onions, peppers and avocado than there was meat. You can’t have a cheese steak sandwich, without cheese steak !! The location is HORRIBLE, and the parking is ridiculous. You have to back out of the parking area, right onto a busy road. SAVEYOURMONEY… SAVEYOURTIME… ANDFORGETABOUTTHISPLACE !!

HIGHLYRECOMMENDED… The knucklehead found this spot so we are trying it out. Birthday girl is getting a Philly with the works(onions, mushrooms, peppers and avocado)…sounds good but Im getting a cool hogie to eat on this hot day with a side of fries. The owner helped us out and was pretty cool. Inside they have a bunch of random pics of cool stuff. My sandwich was P A C K E D with meat. Wish this place was close to home.

If you’re looking for the best Philly cheese steak in town, here’s your good news. This place makes the best philly subs. Its cook and taste so good. I’ve been going there for over 6 years now and their philly cheese steak with work is the bomb. Thier steak fries is very delicious as well. Rany, the owner, and the rest of the employees are very nice. I love the posters they have in the store. You get one dollar off when you check in on Unilocal there. Parking lot is little bit small and narrow. Their potato and macaroni salad are really really good.

I’ve been curious about this place ever since my nursing instructor raved about it months ago. I finally got to eat here, and I have to say that their spin on the philly cheese steak is preferable to most others. I know it’s not really like the ones in Philly at Pat or Geno’s, but then I’ve never really liked cheesesteaks that drip everything and are just onions, cheese, and steak. Here, they add some veggies and the mozza actually stays in the sandwich. Some of it did spill out but it wasn’t a completely uncleanable mess. The mayo actually adds flavor and keeps the meat from drying out. I have an issue with how expensive the sandwich is, though the size of the sandwich does sort of make up for it. I think they’d make a killing if it was around $ 5. Another problem is the location. While it’s right off of downtown El Cajon and it’s easily found by its proximity to the El Cajon courthouse, it’s tucked into this small corner that isn’t easily seen whenever you’re going north on Ballantyne or driving east on Park like I did. It’s only easily seen when you’re heading south on Ballantyne. The décor of the place is pretty cool and it’s not very crowded during weekday lunch time for us(which is actually 10 to 11 in the morning when starting the nursing shift) so that’s a a plus.

15 years ago I lived just down the street, sharing an apartment and partying every chance I got. I was young, broke, and hungry. Back then, this was my favorite sandwich spot. I brought all my friends/family here and told everyone I knew. It’s no wonder why I love to Unilocal! I had not been here for at least 9 years and I was pleasantly surprised to see this place is still up and running. Although they have changed owners a couple of times and expanded their space, they’re still making people fatter and happier. The parking still sucks, but that’s probably never going to change. The sandwiches are still amazing and the large portions are certain to fill the biggest of bellies. Eating for two or just bulking up? This is your spot! You can easily share a sandwich and still meet your caloric intake. But if you’re a constant overeater, have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, you’re going to fucking love this place! For the record, the only sandwich I ever order is the Large Philly Works. But you can spare yourself the humiliation of being bitch slapped by your lunch if you order the regular. I’m a huge fan of grilled onions, bell peppers, lettuce, mushrooms & avocado. But you should be warned, they also love slathering that popular throat lubricant known as mayo, all over your roll. Don’t forget to order the steak fries and a drink combo to wash it all down. You’ll need to stop and remind yourself to breathe. So put your sandwich down and enjoy the musical mastication of your fellow mouth breathing diners. Cheers!

Yes! This is now my Philly Steak Sandwich place, AKA«Post Workout Central». I got the large with the works which had grilled onions, bell peppers, lettuce, mushrooms & avocado. It was massive. It was delicious. It was awesome. It was gone in 5 minutes. …And before you even say anything, If I had a dollar for every single time someone said or wrote«I’m from *insert location here* and this isn’t authentic *insert food here*», I’d probably have enough money to have controlling interest in Unilocal by now. So zip it. I don’t want to hear it. These sandwiches are awesome. What makes them a winner in my book? First of all, they’re huge, which is great for a glutton like myself. Secondly, they are packed with flavor and all sorts of good stuff. Plus, they even have optional extras that you can throw on there like extra cheese, meat, mushrooms, avocado, and *bacon* or ham. Finally, the guy who worked the counter(I’m pretty sure was the owner) was totally cool. So I’m a huge fan of this place. I’ll most definitely be back to this place to share all the goodness they have to offer with friends and family. Additionally, I really want to try the Philly Fries and hindsight being 20/20, I should have ordered those to go with my sandwich because I was still craving all that Philly Steak goodness even after killing my massive sandwich. Maybe next time. Plus, they have a challenge which might be doable and if it isn’t, then you’re still going to literally get your fill of some epic Philly Steak sandwiches. Edit/Update: Second time around I got a Large Philly Steak with the Works and an order of the Philly Fries. I ate them both and they were epic. It’s official, I’m not going anywhere else locally for Philly Steak Goodness. This is now my spot.
