Wow! What a difference in our hall bathroom — even on a cloudy day! Our Solatube was installed so quickly and quietly. When I first saw it «in action» the daylight was spilling into our hallway — just as much, if not more than the daylight from a south facing bedroom. It’s so nice not having to turn the light on. The really interesting thing is even though the Solatube is placed on the north side of the roof, the bathroom looks«sunny». It must be the special roof feature capturing the light because our 2′ x 4′ traditional box skylight further down the roof was less light on that same day.

I had a sliding screen door in my house that we hated — it always fell off track and was just horrible. So I desperately wanted one that would work, but was also skeptical that any sliding screen door would just be crap like my old one. I found a brand(Mirage) that looked like what I wanted from other reviews of it and tracked down a place near Seattle where I could physically go and play with an installed Mirage screen door. I found NW Natural Lighting and called to confirm they have a working installed screen door in their showroom. I had a great experience when I went there and they took plenty of time to answer my questions. While there, I noticed they also had solar attic fans, which was on my list to do but hadn’t been prioritized. In any case, I explored that also and scheduled an appointment to have both installed at my home in Seattle. They arrived on time as expected, did a great job with the install and made sure I was comfortable with everything, and were gone after a few hours. All around, an A+. I tried my best to break the door before the technician left to no avail. Perfect!

I’ve just had installed our 6th(and last, I think!) Solatube in our living room. I don’t know why I waited so long! Every time I’d come into our house through the front door I’d find the north-facing living room so depressing because it was the first room I’d see from the entryway and it was really dark. A few years ago we had two installed in our hallways which prior felt like mole tunnels. One in my daughter’s bedroom which makes a huge difference. She might not appreciate the bright light when she is a teenager but for now it is great! I understand they have a dimmer accessory to close off light as needed. One in a bathroom at the end of a hallway and one in our new mud room. I cannot say enough about the product and the service by NW Natural Lighting. We live on Mercer Island in a 2500. sq ft. 1968 rambler surrounded by gorgeous trees that make our house dark. I love the trees so I work with them by finding ways to bring more light into the house with windows and Solatubes. I love how I don’t have to turn on lights now during the day. Great product and I’ve never felt that NW Natural Lighting was trying to talk me into more than I was asking for. The only negative is the profile. I wish they could be lower to the roof but I understand the design brings in more light. So, I live with the bubbles on my roof! FYI, much as I like skylights, I decided against them because I didn’t want to cut huge holes in my roof and we need light in multiple rooms. There is also a greater likelihood of leaking and leaves/needles collecting on skylights. I always question the validity of online reviews but this is the real deal. I have only reviewed two times. Both because I felt really strongly about a product/service(either negatively or positively).

One half of our house is dark, there is just no getting around it. It’s depressing. At least that’s what I thought, until I heard about solar tubes. I googled it, did my research, and found NW Natural Lighting. They’re the only company around that has the real branded ones, not like the ones at Home Depot(which I didn’t even know existed until a few weeks ago). I sent them an email and they were very prompt with their response and Dawn came out to give us a consultation right away. She was great with our surly dachshund and gave lots of advice on our options; she even told us about a sale I wasn’t aware of that was going on that saved us $ 100! So we opted to get a 14″ tube with a lighting kit above our entry way, and a 10″ tube with lighting kit at the end of the hallway. The install was great. Our appointment was scheduled for noon and Joel called in the morning and said he could come earlier if we wanted(we did), and he was done within a few hours. He put cloths down to protect our floor and did a great job. Now we have a TON more light in that part of the house, and as an added bonus, since we got the light kits(where you can connect the electrical and use as a light switch at night), we also got rid of our ugly light fixtures. Win win win! I highly recommend these people. They are so nice, straightforward about the options and good at what they do. Not to mention these solar tubes are much cheaper and low maintenance than a skylight. Think of all the money I’ll save on therapy in the winter now that I’ll be getting so much more Vitamin D.
