I don’t normally do this, but was skeptical from a previous and only review for Sound piano crafts. However, I am new to the area and came up to sell my mother’s grand piano. A friend, Jim Martinez, who is a traveling musician and recording artist recommended Phil highly. I don’t let just anyone touch my beautiful Steinway at home, so I trusted Jim. Phil was great, I’ve never heard Mom’s piano sound so good. His vast piano knowledge helped me to make a quick sale. I would recommend him highly to anyone. Also his price was reasonable compared to previous tuners I’ve had. Mr. Glenn was on time and was very respectful towards my Steinway. I couldn’t have hoped for better service.

I have known Phil Glenn for many years. I met him when he was the national service rep. for one of the largest piano manufactures in the world: Young Chang. Phil left Young Chang when they merged with Samick and closed their headquarters in Lakewook. Phil decided to stay in the Pacific NW and return to the piano service business. The previous reviewer mentioned that she was uncomfortable with how he pounded the keys. It is important to realize that this is the best way to make sure the tuning will be stable and last as long as possible. It is how tuning is taught at the Steinway factory and while it may sound harsh, it is the correct way to achieve a professional level tuning. I have hired Phil to help me during busy times of year. His tunings are excellent.

Philip from Sound Piano Crafts came to tune my new piano. I have mixed feelings about my experience. He showed up 25 minutes late and I’m not sure how comfortable I was with how hard he punched my piano keys during tuning. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on his prices because this tune up was free from the piano dealer. If you know another tuner, I’d check them first. Otherwise, I’m fairly confident that my piano is now in tune, but not sure I’m happy with my customer service. By the way, his business card doesn’t list an address, so I’m under the impression that he works this company from his home. Please call him to set up an appointment. I know that he does regional piano service, so you don’t have to live in Tacoma to get service.
