World’s best chicken fried chicken! We have been eating there for years. Fantastic service. Even better food. Breakfast or lunch. It’s all great!

One of the best places for breakfast hands down. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. I remember eating here when you could still smoke inside, when I was a kid, and I still believe the food is just as great now as it was then.

Normally rate this as a 4 star but not for last Monday’s breakfast visit. Only three tables with customers already eating when we arrived. We ordered promptly and expected food within 5 to 10 minutes and piping hot as usual. After 15 minutes I began to wonder what happened to our order. We could see food sitting on the serving counter in the kitchen but our waitress was«busy» with the only other waitress at the front of the restaurant. When she finally broke away she proceeded to clear a previously occupied table near us. Then she proceeded to wrap napkins around clean silverware for upcoming customers. Finally she looked back toward the kitchen and proceeded to gather our food for delivery to our table. My first bite of eggs was at best lukewarm so I immediately called the waitress over and asked for a warm-up. She immediately started on a string of excuses, the first lie about a vent pipe or something pointing in the wrong direction over food warming counter in the kitchen ?? The second lie was how she«RAN» back to the kitchen as soon as she was notified our food was ready for pickup. I countered by telling her that was not true because after 15 minutes of waiting in an almost non-occupied restaurant I started watching her wondering when she was going to fetch our food. Serving a cold breakfast is one thing but deliberately lying to place the blame elsewhere is completely unacceptable. I have been coming here for over 35 years and would normally rate the food and service a solid 4 stars, but not today, and now it will be a while before I return.

I ate breakfast here and will not be coming back. The food was terrible! Our bill was over $ 30 and I took 2 bites of my breakfast she didn’t even ask why I didn’t eat it. The server was nice but seemed overwhelmed. We waited over 30 minutes for our food, had to borrow cream for our coffee and no silverware! We saw 2 groups of older men and some red hat ladies eating but no sure why they would subject themselves to bland food.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Edmond. Located in Downtown Edmond, it has this adorable classic diner feel. The food is excellent and the fresh squeezed orange juice is to DIEFOR. It’s definitely a great family friendly brunch spot!

Extremely slow. Order was made wrong. Took about 45 minutes for 1 of 4 meals to come out. About an hour for the rest. Really used to love this place, but it has gone down hill in the past couple of years. There are plenty of staff, plenty of seats, just poor customer service. Hopefully things will change. This place was legendary.

Excellent breakfast. I sometimes get away from the wife and kids and enjoy a nice country atmosphere, bold bottomless cup of coffee, most tasty breakfast of eggs, sausage, hash, you got it. Add a paper and I’m in heaven. Each time I come in there are about five separate groups of farmers/ranchers in here talking about the weather. The weekend crowd is much different and is composed of soccer families and yuppies getting their diner fix. Man this place is great.

This place is very popular in Edmond and I’m not sure why. The restaurant looks as if you have stepped into a country grandma’s house that has a bit of a hoarding problem, but it has charm. Many retirees come here for breakfast and I enjoyed listening to their stories of yore. Our waitress was very good and attentive. I ordered the corned beef hash with two eggs and I asked to substitute the bread and instead get sliced tomatoes. She said it would come as a side instead of a substitute. Ok fine. So the food comes out and I was not impressed. The sliced tomato was three, thin slices of barely ripened tomato. Turns out those green tomatoes cost $ 2! Terrible. The corned beef was good but not $ 8 good and VERY salty. The two eggs were eggs. Eggs are eggs. All in all, I wasn’t impressed with the food and the fact that it cost $ 10. I’d much rather go to Jimmy’s Egg and get higher quality food for $ 10.

First time… Very disappointing! I had eggs, grits, link sausage, and biscuits and gravy. The grits were not done; they were gritty and flavorless. Did not really get to taste the eggs because I mixed them right in with the grits(as all good Southerners do). The link sausage was tasty as was the gravy… it needed a little pepper for me, but it was good. My husband had eggs, links and hash browns. Worst hashbrowns he has ever had! Although fair prices, I would not be willing to give it a second chance.

Great service… horrible food… My roast was very tough, it was served on store bought white bread. My fries were limp and not cooked well. Very sad showing.

Well, it’s better than IHOP. And since Katie’s has gone super downhill, it’s better than Katie’s. But I really think there must be some better greasy spoon diner options in Edmond. Mostly because the service here is lacking. I am a sucker for kitschy décor and history and diners in general. I love the Americana, the warm pancakes, the bacon and the eggs. My friend said the biscuits and gravy and sausage were good. The patrons were a mix of families and locals on a Saturday. When I came in on a weekday morning my food was a little better tasting and I got better service. There were only regulars in for breakfast. I would come back here more often if we had gotten better service. I ask very little from a diner-bring the food I ordered and refill my coffee when I ask. Both visits the servers were disorganized and forgot about our table. Food didn’t come out, forgot the drinks we ordered, never returned to check in or offer refill on coffee. When I tracked down another server walking by, she was annoyed that we asked her and took a very long time to come back to the table. Also, waiting the get the check. Took forever!

I had a very average, nearly 2 star breakfast at Around the Corner on a Sunday morning. But, it wasn’t entirely due to the food that I almost had to give 2 stars. I was seated immediately when I walked into Around the Corner. The woman that seated me took my drink order, and immediately brought my drink. So far, so good. Then I sat… and sat… and sat. At minute 12 I asked her who my server was. Now, this was Sunday morning, which I get is a busy time for diners. But, it was early Sunday, around 8:30, and well before the big rush comes in. The place wasn’t even half full, it was around a third full. So, to wait that long for a server to approach was annoying to say the least. She went and found my server, and just before minute 15 I was able to order. I went with the chicken fried steak breakfast, which comes with your choice of potato, eggs, and bread. I went with hash browns«loaded,» which means they come with cheese, onions, and jalapenos. I also went with biscuits and gravy, because, you know, gravy. After another ten minutes or so, the food came out, and it was STEAMING hot. I did appreciate that they didn’t just let it sit forever on the counter. The order of hash browns isn’t huge, but it’s enough. There is a ton of melted cheese, a decent amount of onions, and not many jalapenos. I got 4. When they charge $ 2.00 to «load» everything, I think 4 is insufficient. You lose the crispiness of the hash browns with all of the cheese melted on top, but I can’t complain because I knew that would happen. They were good, but I would not say that the«loading» process was worth two bucks. The biscuits were room temperature, and the gravy was close to it. So, while everything on my main plate was steaming, these items were not. The gravy had a solid consistency but severely lacked in seasoning. Once I added salt and pepper it was good. The biscuits were standard, the tops were a little hard, but other than that they were normal fluffy biscuits. I’ve had better, but I’ve also had much worse. I think when these are fresh out of the oven they are probably great, but mine were not. The chicken fried steak was good, but again, lacked seasoning. If they had seasoned the meat before dredging it would have been a lot better. But, the breading has a crispy exterior, and it’s a nice size steak. You need a knife, it’s not fork tender. But, it’s all steak, I didn’t get any bites of just breading. I’d get it again, but like I said, it was crying out for some salt and pepper. My server was around after the initial wait. I got one refill promptly and didn’t have to ask for my check, which I like. This breakfast had potential, but as executed it was average at best.

Family diner feel with great food, and great service. We’ve been there for both Breakfast and Lunch — and have been super happy with both. It does sometimes take a bit if they are busy, but I think the wait is worth it!

A trip to Around the corner restaurant found me ordering a la cart. I chose 2 pancakes with 2 eggs over easy and link sausage. The service was friendly and prompt. The 2 flat sponges they brought were chewy and hard to cut with minimal taste. I was served whipped spread and told that was all that was available. The link sausage were mushy and lacked any real interesting tastes. It is rumored that Around the Corner is under new management. It appears this long time member of Edmond’s restaurant list us not part of the food revolution. While it may be a popular place to meet Around the Corner is not a great place to eat.

Not impressed with their breakfast options. Went only once and will not be returning. Processed cheese, grocery store cheap bread. There $ 6 waffles look like frozen toaster oven ones, and my hubby said they did not taste great. Staff was friendly, but food was awful

Seriously have not been here in 21 years. Last time greasy spoon and smoking was allowed. Heard more recently that it had changed hands. Had I realized it was the same people that owned Othello’s I would not have gone as I can’t stand their place either anyway… waited forever for mediocre food. Didn’t even finish the pancakes. I don’t see what the big deal is other than people don’t know to cook.

So they’re going for the whole small town diner niche. What does that mean to all us city folk: 1) tiny portions, cooked in lots of butter 2) tons and tons of pork… bacon, sausage… patty, link. They love pigs. 3) lots of «good ol’ boys.» Ie tons of old farmer dudes just sitting around talking trash. The staff knows their name, and the farmers know all the staff. So it’s the farmer’s version of the bar from Cheers. As far as the food goes: its about as good as ihop. Nothing to write home about. That said, I’d go to a local owned place over ihop if I had a choice. Basically it’s a $ 8 breakfast diner. Take from that what you will.

Slow service, mediocer food and small cups pretty much sum it up. My wife and I were looking for a quick breakfast and just wanted something basic. We had never been here before but the menu fit exactly what we wanted. Upon entry we were told to just find a spot. There were a number of tables so we made our way to booth next to the coffee serving area. After being seated for two minutes the waitress took our drink order and off she went. Perfect we thought, fast service and we can get on with our day. Our coffee and water arrived in cups that were the size of what our daughters use for imaginary tea parties. One sip and you needed a refill. After delivering our drink she immediately took our order. Other than the ¼ cup size glasses things were moving smoothly at 10:00 Saturday morning with a less than packed house. At about 10:15 we had not seen our waitress and managed to final get a refill on our coffee from someone else. Three fill-ups later they managed to find a regular coffee cup and water cup realizing it was 10:45 and we still did not have our food… Our waitress told us how this never happens and she was sorry… I know it wasn’t her fault but the place wasn’t busy and all we ordered was 3 eggs, some bacon and and order of french toast. 11 o’clock came and went, but at this point they were really on their coffee fill-r-up game. Never did my cup run low! 11:10 and the food finally showed up. Scrambled eggs and french toast… It was what is was, hard to mess that up. Eight minutes later we ate and were ready to check out. 11:30 and still no waitress, 11:35 we made for the register and asked for them to pull up our bill. We paid and finally made it out. Summary, I have gotten out of Ruth Chris faster than this place. If cheap and slow is what you want by all means go here. You will get what you order eventually and it will be just plain ordinary. Nothin special and really slow!

I decided to stick with their specialties since this was my first visit. I ordered meatloaf, onion rings and side salad. The salad was lettuce and tomato. Not exactly a «salad» but the lettuce was good. Not full of preservatives so I didn’t mind. The meatloaf was mostly meat, not breading. It had a small amount of tomato sauces on it. Personally, I like more sauce so I added catsup. The onion rings were freshly made. Very tasty although they are greasy as expected. If you like country cooking, I think you would like this place. If your palate is more inclined to gourmet food, I’d advise you skip this one! The total cost of the meal was $ 6.95. For the price and type of food, I give it 5 stars.
