The spicy wings are amazing!!! So flavorful and a airy crunch to them!!! Highly recommend

I know Kono Chicken is known for their fried chicken, but I could not avoid the beautiful sliced Jokbal sitting next to the cash register calling my name. One tray is a little more than $ 14, but definitely worth it. It comes with both Saeujeot, a salty fermented shrimp paste, and a red chili pepper paste for dipping. The sliced pieces with meat and fatty skin attached were tender, but the cartilage on the bone was a little chewy(still tasty, though). Literally every person that ordered after me bought at least one tray to share. Aside from Jokbal, I ordered a small tray of soondae to go along with my soondubu from Wooram. If you’re sharing with another person, their ‘small’ is certainly enough for both of you. I thought the casing was just right, but it can be a bit chewy for others. I went a little overboard with the salt mix; a little goes a long way. Overall, I’m really happy I found a place that sells both Jokbal and soondae sort of near me. It saves me a trip to Bergen County for sure. They also have Bossam, so I’ll probably order that and their chicken the next time I’m here.

This is a chain and I’ve been to the other locations in Queens and it’s better in Queens. I ordered half the chicken with half spicy and half soy garlic. It came with a side of french fries and pickled radish. We came on a Sunday afternoon and they were not busy and the chicken I suspect it was left over from earlier morning or the night before. It was very greasy and old tasting and had the weird chicken taste. The French fries were really good. Nice and crispy. Overall I guess come when they are a bit busy and the chicken might be a bit fresher

The elderly woman behind the counter said the EGGSOVEREASY is illegal in New Jersey. I kid you not! Exactly what she said. So if you’re planning to order something with eggs over easy as shown in the pictures, be prepared to be disappointed. AND don’t even bother to rationalize with her. Big waste of my time.

This review is solely for the Japanese side of Kono Chicken.(Sorry, I don’t remember the name and I cannot see a separate spot to review that eatery.) The chicken always looks great and appetizing when I see families eating it, but sadly, I will not spend a dime there after my recent experience. Essentially, I was treated as a second class citizen by the woman at the counter. I was given lukewarm food and she obviously had ZERO desire to fix the problem. She refused to sell an item to me(the udon soup), and lied to my face that it was something they sold when the picture is right in front of both of our faces. She also argued with me when I pointed out that my pager may not have been working properly. I never raised my voice, just simply mentioned that my food was not hot, I was never paged, and I’d like to buy udon noodles and soup, and I was treated as if I were unworthy of even being in this woman’s presence. Discrimination absolutely sucks.

Not as good as before! No spicy option and I didn’t see fries mentioned. Just got the can of Diet Coke and the pickled daikon with a whole chicken. Also the white meat got very dry and a little tough. In future I will consider other options.

Amazing!!! Fried chicken!!! Kono Chicken is located inside Hmart. I ordered the five piece with wings and legs. It came with fries and melon. The wings and legs had a delicious spicy soy garlic sauce. I believe the fries had a similar flavoring too. I loved it. I compared it to the chicken place next store, much better.

*Korean fried chicken in mild or spicy. *the drumsticks and wings are not very large, but makes for a great greasy snack. *comes with free fries, which usually cost $ 2.99 if ordering separately. *not the best, but that doesn’t stop me from always getting an order when at H-Mart.

Not knowing that Bön Chon was right around the corner(literally), we ordered from Kono Chicken. Not a bad thing necessarily in terms of the taste: this is solid Korean fried chicken. Can’t comment on their non-KFC selections, but the wings and legs are decent with sufficiently crispy skin. I was pretty amused, though, when I opened the box and found a couple of legs that were GIANT compared to the small wings and drumsticks. It’s as if they inadvertently harvested a couple of steroid chickens within the mix of their normal flock. Half star deducted for cold reception for middle-aged woman who refused to make eye contact when I came to pick up my order and essentially ignored my existence for 30 seconds. Another half star deduction for making me wait another 20 minutes for my wings even though when I ordered I had told them I would be coming at a specific time to pick up the order. Apparently one hour is not enough for them to get their act together. Slightly cheaper than Bön Chon but will probably opt for BC next time.

Their garlic & soy sauce chicken is amazing. It comes with daikon to balance their spicy chicken but then they give you spicy French fries. Lol. Delicious! They also serve ramen. Their slices if char Sui is very thin but they ate very good quality. Their shoyu broth is standard and their bowl came with a salad. Self serve and they take credit cards.

This place is good. During lunch they give you french fries. I like it better than the boom boom chicken which is nearby. It isn’t as spicy as boom boom.

Mild versus Spicy? I tried both and you have to go with spicy. Its different take for fried chicken but it works and it even seems like home cooking since the chicken is not covered in batter. I read a Unilocaler saying that this is not Korean chicken, can some one clarify as to how we can tell the difference? I’ve eaten fried chicken in chinese restaurants but they were never seasoned like kono chicken. I’ve heard of bon chon but haven’t tried them yet.

There spicy fried chicken is so crispy and delicious. They are pretty expensive. 4 drumsticks is $ 6.99. It comes with a side of small French fries. I think 4 drumsticks is sufficient for two people. There soy and garlic sauce is so flavorful. I come here every few months to splurge. Once you have this chicken, you’ll never want to go to KFC or any other fried chicken place.

If you like good fried chicken and like SPICE, then you gotta try this! It’s a little bit on the expensive side(you could probably get a bucket of chicken at KFC for about the same price) — but its different and definitely worth it. I recommend eating it there instead of taking it home… much better when it is piping hot!

There aren’t any BonChons or KyoChons in the area, so Kono Chicken is the place to be if you’re ever craving Korean fried chicken. They have the two standard flavors(spicy and soy-garlic) and you can get either just wings or drumsticks — or a combination of both. Every order comes with a little cup of complimentary pickled radish(yay!) and a side of piping-hot fries.

Envision a hot summer day… you’re sweating more liquids than you remembered consuming and even worse, you’re ravenous. You drive past Tastee Sub Shop because hey, you’re not really in a ‘sub’ mood(even if Mr. President DID go there…) and soon you find yourself driving aimlessly on route 27, with nowhere to go and a high-maintenance stomach that sings a tune called FEEDME. To make matters worse, the AC in your car is broken and you’ve long given up trying to wipe away the waterfall of liquid your noggin emits. Yet, despite the beads of sweat somewhat blinding you as they drip into your eyes… you find solace in the Korean supermarket, H-Mart, where the AC works and food is as far as the eye can see. KONO Chicken? You shrug nonchalantly as you smoothly make your way to the counter(Oh you smooth criminal you). After what seems like an eternity of ordering, paying, and waiting for your combo meal of assorted wings and legs(spicy of course), your order number is finally called. «YES!» cries your stomach – it is elated. You bite into the twice-fried chicken leg – spicy and piping hot… its succulent juices dripping down your chin, but of course you’re too hungry to care. You look like a rabid animal and the Korean patrons are clearly frightened by you; but you’re oblivious, intoxicated by this chicken’s bold spices and the juxtaposition of crispy and juicy. The picked radish and soda washes your palette and within minutes you’re left with an empty box, a happy stomach, and a sad wallet that future you will worry about. As you wipe your hands, you head towards the liquor section of H-mart to buy yourself nice cold beer for home. Yeah, your life is awesome. .

It’s surprisingly good but a tad pricey. I ordered the leg and wing combo. I also got sondae. The chicken comes with fries. It’s good. Not healthy, vegan, or organic. FYI. Just need beer.

I’ve been on a wing crave lately. Korean wings that is. So my girl decided to take me to H-Mart, which is a Korean supermarket which opened near our house. The supermarket have a food court which serves different kinds of Korean foods. One of the food joints there is called Kono Chicken which serves fried chicken(wings, drumsticks, or whole chickens). The price is pretty reasonable. I got 18 wings, 9 w soy garlic and the other 9 hot, with white rice on the side for $ 19.50 with tax. The guy behind the counter gave us the receipt with a number on it. When your food is ready, theres a LED counter in the front with numbers. When your number is put up there, it means your food is ready. The guy behind the counter was soo nice and funny, we got along great and I think he threw in a side of fries just for fun coz we became friends. My girl said«duh, maybe the fries come with it? Then I thought about it and said«Probably». Great wings. Crispy, hot(temperature). Very flavorful. The coating was crispy and soy garlic was on point. The hot flavor was just like BonChon, theres a sweetness there, as the addicting hot(spice) lingers in your mouth. it hurts soooo GOOD! ;) We forgot to get a drink and I was too lazy to get up, so we just decided to get a drink in the supermarket(green tea cold drink) and took it home with us. Overall, the place is clean and organized. Happy Eating.

I’m gong to preface this review by saying that this three star review is a bit tentative based on me trying out more of Kono Chicken’s food in the future, like, you know, their chicken! Kono Chicken is located inside«H-Mart», a supermarket/shopping center that I will dedicate another review to all by itself(trust me, it needs it). Suffice it to say, this once abandoned set of strip mall store fronts is now alive with activity, mostly from Korean businesses. Kono is part of H-Mart’s food court which is bright, vibrant and friendly looking. I know the obvious choice was to try the chicken, but when I saw free samples of something that resembled blood sausage, I couldn’t resist trying it. I would later learn what I had tried was Soondae(which according to Wikipedia is «…a Korean dish made generally by boiling or steaming cow or pig’s intestines that are stuffed with various ingredients»). To some, this may sound gross. To me, who looooves the Puerto Rican style of blood sausage, this sounds like awesomeness. After trying a sample I was surprised that the flavor was rather mild in comparison to the aforementioned Puerto Rican style sausages. There was definitely the same flavor profile, but with the cellophane noodles inside, there was a bit more chewiness and a lighter flavor than I expected. It was by no means bad, as I wound up buying an order of it to take home and enjoy! The service was really good, but I did have a bit of trouble communicating with the gent who cut the sausage up for me. The cashier is easily one of the top five friendliest cashiers I’ve ever met in my life and the service was super snappy. I can’t wait for my next visit to try the Kono Chicken itself.

While southerns may be known for their fried chicken, it’s probably a little known fact that Koreans know how to make some amazing fried chicken as well. Kono is located in the food court of the newly opened H Mart in Edison(I could write a review on how awesome H Mart is, but I’ll focus this review on the important thing: food) Anyway, was in the mood for some Korean fried chicken, so got the #7(3 wings, 2 legs), spicy of course. The individual taking my order was extremely friendly and congratulated me on my awesome selection. For $ 7, it came with 5 pieces of tasty, crispy, not so spicy, chicken(and thankfully, not oily whatsoever). You could probably get more for your money at your local KFC/Popeyes, but it really wouldn’t taste as good. I was also pleasantly surprised when some pickled radish and a can of Coke(despite my preference for Pepsi, but once again, I digress) came with my chicken. Of course, after finishing the 5 pieces, I could easily imagine myself eating another 2 – 3 pieces before satiation. Overall, a 3.5 but I’ll bump it up because of the quick and cordial service. Also, this place serves jokbal(pig’s feet), pork belly, and soondae(korean sausage), which I’ll have to try on my next visit.
