I came here for dinner with my ‘Noona’. It’s pretty funny that I can see reminiscence of the muscle maker grill that used to be this location. I ordered a sundubu(Tofu soup) and it was ok. Nothing really memorable that would make me travel a long distance to dine here again.

Came here for a second time a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend. This time, we both ordered tofu soup. It was so bland; we were so disappointed. We ordered dumplings and seafood pancake, too! Dumplings were not standout but the seafood pancake was great, as usual! I’m not sure if we were just starving the first time we visited but the food was amazing that time. I’m not sure if we will be making the half hour trip here anymore. I guess we’ll have to look for a new tofu spot to go to in Jersey.

Had tofu there with my family. The rice I had was not as good as other places and the tofu tasted just so so even if the price was considered. I would like to have BCD Tofu next time.

Over priced, bad services. Will never go there. The tofu house by hmart is so much better. Not worth your time or money

My boyfriend and I took advantage of the lunch special here. Pretty solid food — both dishes were tasty and the sides were good. I’m wondering if they give more sides for dinner since the side selection seemed limited in comparison to some of the pictures posted by other Unilocalers. I’ll definitely have to check it out again and try something different on the menu.

Loved the banchan and all the food(appetizers AND the main course)! The ambience was good and the service was very friendly and helpful. I finally found a Korean restaurant in the NJ area that I love and would re-visit. The prices are a little on the higher side though…

I’ve only been here once and if I wasn’t already a tofu soup fan, I would probably give this a better review. I ordered the mushroom tofu soup which could have used a bit more flavor. The broth felt like it was lacking and too watery. However, the staff is very friendly and the order was prepared very quickly.

Come here for the lunch specials! Pretty good pricing for Korean food. The banchan here is really good, especially the kimchi. The servers will refill your banchan for free too. The tofu here is better than the tofu house in Edison and the other dishes are pretty good as well. I like the Korean Chicken BBQ lunch item along with the tofu items. The rice here is cooked in a hot pot and scooped out to you… perfect rice IMO. Definitely try it out

Just went there to have Korean food for the first time, and wow the food was delish! Tried the bulgogi and it was tasstyyyyyyy, the beef was so tender and flavorful and the right amount of onions, all mixed with the sauce, too good. Saw other dishes that I do want to try and will be going back sooner than later.

Had the rice cakes which were extremely spicy and delicious. Also tasted the soondubu and bibimbap which were both delicious as well. Try anything on the menu and it will come out quickly, plentiful and delicious. Ample seating, parking and great location along Route 1. Really glad that there’s finally a great Korean restaurant on Route 1.

I had gone past this place a bunch of times and didn’t stop in till I was with a friend and we were going to the gamestop and then planned to grab dinner afterwards. So we popped in on a cold rainy night, and the place was mostly empty. Service was really friendly. The older woman serving us was giving tips on what the menu items were. My friend wasn’t too versed in Korean food, but I have had it plenty of times so I ended up with my go-to dolsot bibimbap, and I think we may have had an appetizer of some sort. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the service was attentive. If they bring out some soup broth near the end of your bibimbap throw it in there and scrape the bowl with what is left over, its tasty. I hope they keep enough business to stay open. I would return, especially if its not completely packed like some of the places by rt 27.

I came here during one of its opening weekends this past summer. I was excited to try it because, back at school in the south I had a favorite tofu soup place, but when I come back to NJ during breaks I struggle to find a good specialty Korean restaurant to satisfy my tofu soup cravings. Enter: Jsc. My boyfriend and I swung by when we were in Edison one day. It’s in the shopping plaza with the piano store, along Route 1. When we first walked in, I was a little disappointed by the slightly dim lighting and plain interior – I’m used to Korean restaurants being bright and well decorated. Our server was very nice, although at first she assumed I was Korean and I had to subtly direct her questions to my boyfriend. She enthusiastically gave us recommendations and explained menu items. I ordered a veggie tofu soup. The wait wasn’t long, perhaps because there weren’t many people at the time. The soup was pretty good, with a lot of flavor and ingredients inside. It didn’t taste too salty or anything. I ordered a spicier soup and was pleasantly surprised by the spiciness of it – no watered down spice. My boyfriend actually had never had tofu soup before and, in general, doesn’t like tofu much, but he really enjoyed his meal. The portions were sizable, or as sizable as tofu soup gets(I feel like every tofu house gives about the same amount). I recall the side dishes being okay, nothing special. In general, this is a pretty good place for your tofu soup fix(better than the one next to H-mart in my opinion), but it’s not anything too amazing.

This restaurant needs to get a little more recognition and more publicity. The korean food here is very good in my opinion. When I entered the restaurant, I thought this was some kind of food station, but it is not. There is no host or hostess to greet you. You see a cashier in the back and I thought I had to order from back there, pick up the food, and go to a table. A tofu soup restaurant like any good tofu soup restaurant. Be seated and someone will take your order. The menu is about the same as other Korean Tofu Soup restaurants. Prices are in the same ballpark as others. They do give out complimentary korean appetizers. They were okay to me overall. Not as much flavor as other Korean restaurants. The Mushroom Tofu soup was quite delicious. It has two different types of mushrooms. Bubbling hot tofu soup. Plenty of tofu. On the spot mild flavor. Perfect to warm up my body on a freezing day. The Bulgogi was pretty much spot on. Certainly surprised me because I was not expecting it to be this very good. It was very well marinated. Very tasty and flavorful. Sauce was great to go with my bowl of rice. Great slices of marinated beef. This is a great option to go to if you are shopping in the shopping center or if other tofu houses are packed. It was pretty much a quiet dinner service at the restaurant. Not too many customers. Certainly good Korean Tofu Soup.

We were craving tofu soup on our way home and decided to try this newly opened restaurant. The place is at the old Muscle Maker Grill in the shopping center with Planet Fitness. We ordered the seafood spicy and beef regular. The food was fine and I would have rated this higher, except we used to live in Fort Lee and have had more flavorful versions for roughly the same price. We liked the small dishes and they seemed reasonably priced compared to their competitors on some items. Service was great! All the ladies were so nice and attentive. They even explained how to crack the egg in, not knowing this wasn’t our first time. Nice casual atmosphere and I’d still recommend going there if you’re in the area. If they can step up their game on flavor, then they’ve got the makings to be 5 star.

We were looking for a hot, comforting meal and stumbled upon BBQ& tofu house. As vegetarians, we were delighted to see«tofu» in their title and ventured in. The servers and hostess greeted us with smiles, and the restaurant was very clean and inviting. They served us the usual assortment of Korean appetizers, my favorites were the potatoes in the tangy spicy orange sauce and the peeled broccoli stems. We decided to stick to our usual Korean food choices, mixed vegetable bibimbap and a steaming pot of tofu stew. We were not disappointed! The bibimbap was a larger portion than most I have had, and was topped with an assortment of mushrooms, egg, greens, sprouts and carrots. It was light and was made more delicious by the spicy sauce they served with it. The soondobu tofu stew was delicious and flavorful without being too heavy. Overall everything was very good and we’ll definitely come back again! Although I do wish they had a version of tofu Korean BBQ, they did a great job on the classic vegetarian options.

Excellent place and rivals the better Korean restaurants in Flushing, Queens. Even the rice they use has an earthy high quality taste to it. All of the bbq dishes were excellent and the soon dubu had a complexity not often seen in other tofu places. The kimchi was also some of the best I’ve had anywhere in NY and NJ. Owner is super attentive and clearly takes pride in his new business. I highly recommend going there.

This newly opened restaurant has a confusing layout. Upon entering, there’s tables throughout, a big counter near the back of the restaurant where the cash register is, and there’s no hostess stand. While standing by the door, all the waitresses greet us at once, which was confusing, since they’re all far away, and I didn’t know which way to look. Since we already made a reservation, our table for 8 was saved for us, although it probably wouldn’t be an issue getting a table that Saturday evening, the restaurant was about 60% filled. We ordered a variety of items to share, including: Large Seafood Pancake $ 15 — had too much batter and lacked in flavor. The only seafood visible was imitation crabmeat Bibimbap w Beef $ 13 — topped with fresh vegetables, not enough beef though Bulgogi $ 16 — reasonably priced, good portion-size, not very flavorful Kalbi $ 18 — short rib was a bit too thinly sliced, could be thicker Baby Octopus + Pork StirFry $ 21 — bottom half of the dish has udon even though the menu didn’t mention any noodles. At this price point there should’ve been more meat and octopus Beef Tofu Stew $ 10(spicy/4th level) — lacked in flavor and spice, since the tofu takes on whatever seasoning is used, the stew tasted bland Seafood Tofu Stew $ 10(medium/3rd level) — a few head-on shrimp and clams, also lacked in flavor and even less spice here since we ordered medium The selection of side dishes were also very basic, definitely not the memorable. Kimchi, salad, acorn jelly, pickled vegetables, pickled cucumbers, pickled radish. The menu also has the acorn jelly as an appetizer for $ 10. Maybe you get a bigger portion than the side dish, but it wasn’t flavorful, which seemed to the theme of the items we ordered. I grabbed a free Chinese magazine outside local Asian supermarkets and clipped the 10% off coupon, and saved us over $ 10! Forgot to mention, the $ 17 – 18 lunch specials that serve 2 seem to be decently priced, but not sure when we will be returning

Food was pretty good, but i was expecting more authentic and more options to choose from. Seafood pancake was good and crispy, the thing about being crispy, i’m almost 100%positive that they put baking soda or baking powder in the batter. You will have alkaline after taste because they put too much. Pork and baby octopus-portion was big, it tasted good, because we are coming in expecting a bit more traditional korean fare we were sorta have that attitude«these are all that they have on the menu?» Give it a try, it’s a new restaurant so hopefully they will do things better today than yesterday.

Their lunch menu is around $ 18, which is a little expensive imo. However, you get a combination of sundubu and a meat dish so I guess $ 18 is worth it. Sundubus are around $ 10, bibimbops are around $ 12(I think) and other meat dishes are around($ 20). I tried their kalbi, sundubu, dolsot bibimbop, seafood pancakes, and jabche. Overall, all the dishes are good~great. &&& I think they have the b.e.s.t kalbi around Edison and New Brunswick. In terms of service, even though they are new, everyone was nice and we were served fairly quickly.

I just walked by today and found this place near to the TJ-Maxx. I shopped a little bit in the tj-maxx and felt starving so I just entered this restaurant. And it was really great and I enjoyed so much. I ordered Seafood Tofu Soup which seemed their signature dish and also LA Galbi(I think it is beef rib). The soup was like a heaven ’cause the tofu was so soft almost like egg pudding and the flavor was fresh and spicy, typical Korean style. Galbi tastes good too. It was tender and I like the sauce a lot. About the service, the girl who served me was very nice and helpful. Oh, and the rice comes free with the soup(the soup is only 10bucks !!!) and it is cooked in a hot stone pot ! Overall, I liked it a lot and I think I will definitely recommend to my friends.
