Five Stars Fo-Sho!!! Holy RAY’s! There are two sandwiches on menu — yup 2! Ham or beef, with cheese, with onion? Have both! They seriously come out on a tiny piece of paper and a napkin! How smart!!! The ham was exceptional and so was the beef! Had Spanish stew that was delish! And Pea Soup was delish as well! Horseradish mustard was ridiculous! Beers great! And a beautifully simply Bloody Mary! Unreal, never eating anywhere but here again! Love love love this place!!!

Small dive bar… Big flavor! Very unassuming location(we weren’t even sure it was open at 11:30 for lunch). I got the hot roast beef with cheese and onions and it was perfect. Very messy(which is a good thing) and served simply on a napkin and piece of paper. As a huge fan of horseradish, I had to try the horseradish mustard, and it is probably the best I’ve ever had. They also sell the mustard separately so I ordered 2 jars to go. The bar has lots of seats and there are a few tables and some bar games as well… Since it was a working lunch, I didn’t get to try the beers on tap, but the on tap root beer was really good. Highly recommended to all.

5 stars because of their hot ham & cheese sandwiches. No fluff dining and bar experience… your sandwich is served on a napkin. Oh, but those sandwiches are amazing! You must try the horseradish on your sandwich, but use sparingly until you know your limit… so good!

Old school place with only a handful of menu items, mainly hot beef or ham sandwiches. It’s served on a piece of patty paper and a dixie napkin and you’ve never been so happy for simplicity in all your life.

Folks live full lifetimes yearning for a place like Ray’s. Hard truth is, most’ll never come close to letting the door to an establishment this fine hit them on the way out. No, while the yearners of the world suck down Olive Garden bread sticks, a handful of the Chippewa Valley’s finest citizens pass the spicy mustard down to four wayward strangers looking for nothing more than a cheese sandwich and a pitcher of beer so cheap, you’re getting it drunk. Halfway through a scroll of the jukebox and you realize no algorithm can match Ray’s Pandora’s Box. And yeah, maybe you don’t get the song you WANT to hear. Darling, Ray’s only gonna give you what you NEED.

This place is a personal life changer, a big leap in a man’s life, the moment when you discover something so great you immediately start to feel bad on what you’ve been missing out on all of these years. BESTBLOODYMARY’S EVER! I used to hate, I mean seriously can’t even smell bloody mary’s but everyone, I mean the majority of the locals in the bar at 11pm were drinking bloodies. I had to try it. Let me tell you, I went from zero to hero, tired to excited, and suddenly Eau Claire was a great place to be! Their bloodies are very spicy, without an overwhelming taste of tomato juice in each sip and the pickles and olives made me a very, very happy man. It was the first time I enjoyed a bloody, and subsequently, I continued to enjoy 5 of them.

Awesome hot beefs and hot hams. you must stop by!!! Was just there on monday– fantastic PS– if you stumble across a messd up website with Rays info, it may be wrong. I was looking for their hours and found a stite that was completley wrong. I asked the dud there – they said they didtnt think they had one!!! as far as i can tell, they open for lunch… at 11 or maybe even earlier… be sure to try the spicy mustard– they sell it for 3 bucks a jar

The epitome of a townie bar, known for their hot roast beef sandwiches and spicy mustard. The sandwich will run you $ 4.25 and comes on a pile of napkins and is pretty damn incredible. Overall, it’s really tough to go wrong with this establishment.

Great little bar and easy to miss but don’t. Their food menu only has a few items. They have the best hot roast beef and ham sandwiches and they serve it on a bunch of napkins. It’s hot, drippy, messy & delicious. Also love their homemade pea or bean soup Find Rays if you can and stop by and enjoy simple and classic
