Every time we travel from North Dakota to Michigan we stay at the Best Western Plus Trail Lodge Hotel & Suites. I have never had a bad experience at this hotel. We bring our 2 dogs with us when we travel, a golden retriever and a pit bull mix and they have never given us a problem with them. There is a $ 20 pet charge but its worth it. The rooms are always very clean. We always get upgraded to king suites which are very spacious. The beds are comfortable. The staff is always very nice and helpful. I like the location. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in the city of Eau Claire, WI.

I stayed at this property for two nights while in the area on business and I was blown away with how great it was. The room had been renovated and it was very well decorated. I look for two things when I stay in a hotel… a comfortable bed and a great shower. This property didn’t disappoint. The hotel also offers breakfast, but I didn’t get the chance to try it. The next time I’m in the Eau Claire area, this will be my choice for a hotel!

Here is the breakdown : Location is a bit out of town and there aren’t any attractions near the hotel. Be prepared to order food in, or drive to other hotels’ restaurants. The highway noise is constant with jake braking — but, hey, the management does leave you two pair of ear plugs with a note saying that it’s too bad life doesn’t have mute button(insert knee slapping hardy har here). Thin walls are always a disappointment especially when one spends 150 $+ for a room. Noise: YES. Pet friendly and people let there dogs bark — the joy for the rest of us. And, you can hear next door and the hallway noise. Cleanliness was pretty good. The hotel has a smoky/musty smell in some hallways, but the rooms seemed OK. The beds are amazingly comfortable and piled with pillows. I loved the extra TV in the bedroom as well. The entire hotel seems a bit worn and old, but not dirty. Whirlpool suite value: meh. Not so hot. Small tub for two athletic people. Though a rubber duck in the bathroom was a cutesy touch. There was however a weird photocopy of a notice apologizing for the ongoing construction, I never saw construction, but found the note itself tacky and the delivery method poor business. I would expect to be told upon check in about such issues. Customer Service: The front desk check in was OK, but some other employee who wasn’t a desk worker was standing behind the desk looking at my I.D., credit cards and paperwork. It bothered me that the front desk employee didn’t intervene to at least appear to protect my privacy. Why does the cleaning staff need to look at the back of my credit card? Weird and disconcerting. I will be watching my card closely. Continental Breakfast: YIKES. Best just grab a banana and orange juice. The hot food was inedible. Cardboard eggs and half cold gristly sausage.

Super clean rooms with lots of really great amenities(ear plugs, mouth wash, qtips, etc). Quiet hotel(without the ear plugs). Pet friendly! Will stay again. Highly recommend.

Pretty disappointed in condition of room and facility given we typically stay in the Best Western Plus when we travel. Older facility needs updating. Stayed in King suite w jacuzzi tub, which was a waste to pay the extra rate since the jacuzzi seemed about the size of a standard tub. The room itself was designated a handicapped and for a handicapped room it would have rated okay for overall size and condition however not suitable for king suite. The bathroom is in dire need of deep cleaning and re-caulking. Sofa was marginally cozy. For arriving so late in the evening I was hoping to get my $$ worth in comfort and rest. I could hear everything in Neighboring rooms above and next door. The continental breakfast was your standard however the eggs and bacon we had that following morning were fairly heavy on the grease. Staff seemed fairly pleasant for the middle of the night. Had I taken some more time to do some more research on other facilities I would probably recommend staying elsewhere, especially at the rate we paid and the location of the hotel being on the outskirts of town. We had to drive into town to find a restaurant to eat at which wasn’t very convenient to the location of the hotel.

When I looked for hotels in Eau Claire, I didn’t have grand expectations, and this Best Western certainly isn’t grand… but it was surprisingly more equipped than I imagined. I picked it based on location and price. WHY are Eau Claire hotels so expensive?! I stayed in a room with king bed. It had a tv, mini fridge, microwave, desk, wired Internet, free wifi, and a couch & coffee table. Honestly, it was not that bad for $ 100/night(relative to other hotels in EC). It has updated furnishings, but the hotel itself is rather tired /old. They do have a pool and fitness center that’s open until 11, but I didn’t check those out during my stay. The only reason it got bumped to 4 stars from 3 is because the girl at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful, helping me find a taxi that takes credit card(GOODLUCK), somewhere good for delivery food, and generally went out of her way for me.
