We enjoyed burgers, portabello burger, salmon and pan fryed oysters among our group of 6. Garlic fries were super good. Good service and nice ambiance. The problem we had is they will not do more than one check per table. It states it on the menu. A real pain when you are with a group of people. Will return!

One star for the location and hour. One star for the stiff Bloody Mary. One star for good food: Jambalaya pasta, Ravioli du jour, and cheese burger are satisfying. What I don’t like: overprice. Jambalaya Pasta was good but not $ 25 good. Ravioli was good but for $ 18, we thought the chicken breast came with it. But we were surprised that is $ 7 additional. My daughter is less than 90 pounds and why the waitress did not mention the chicken is extra and she ended up not finishing her dinner annoys me. Burger is a solid $ 10 quality. I will come back for drinks and burgers.

I read some of the negative reviews and was reluctant to go, but I must say, the service was excellent and four of us all had excellent meals. Can’t wait to go back.

My fiancé and I have had a few really good days here. We’ve been to Orcas Island twice, and both times, we ended up here more than once during the trip. We loved the overall vibe of this place. It always had a great crowd. We could spend a few hours in one day just chatting with the locals at the bar while eating and drinking up a storm! They have a TV as well, so it’s perfect for watching sports. I particularly enjoyed the pan-fried oysters. It was rather mild in flavor and went beautifully with the lemon and tartar sauce. I liked its crunch on the outside and its chewy softness on the inside. The garlic fries were also to die for, provided that you don’t breathe on anyone afterwards. The fish and chips were okay — a little too bland for my liking. The calamari was too salty. Service was good for the most part. We’ve always had very attentive and personable bartenders during our visits. We will return over and over again for more good days on the island.

Enjoyed the Madrona! I took a chance ordering the steamed clams after seeing a terrible review of the clams. They were delicious! Steamed in white wine, garlic & butter. I am so glad I chanced it & ordered them. Husband had a burger & said it was delicious. View is fantastic!

My hubby and I visited Orcas Island for our anniversary and came here for dinner our first night. Service was prompt and my glass was never empty. We both ordered the $ 22 special for chicken parmesan, which was a little bland, but still very fresh. We also tried the $ 8 molten lava cake that was just a couple bites, but yummy! The view of the water is fantastic from almost any table.

Never got any service after waiting at an uncrowded bar 20 minutes. Do not waste your time. Snobby unfriendly terrible customer service.

Very disappointing. Slowest service I have experienced in a long time! Not only did we wait for an hour for hamburgers, one meal was so cold it had to be sent back and they had to remake it! I had Ice Tea and was never offered a refill and ice was melted after 10 min. The final insult was they added 20% gratuity for a party of 5 and we didn’t have an option to tip accordingly based on our experience, thus this review will have to suffice.

You can have a great view while enjoying your meal. The service was a bit slow but it just give you more time to enjoy the view. Set your expectations low and leave happy!

Nice evening sitting on the balcony for dinner. This place has a casual, comfortable feel. Excellent crab bisque!

Let me summarize just in case you didn’t believe the previous reviews… 1. Long waits because nothing else is open during the week late in the evening. 2. Good food but severely overpriced. 3. Mind-numbingly oblivious and forgetful greeters and wait staff. We’ve eaten here twice and both times were because nothing else was open at a late hour. Both times the greeter was rude or maybe just oblivious due to age? Two different girls, very young and not aware of what needed to happen in a restaurant. Even had to ask to see a menu! We waited for 15 minutes before even seeing a waiter and had to ask the greet staff for water. Food is good, severely overpriced but portions are large(definitely splittable). Both times we were there our orders were missed or severely wrong. Like, we ordered, pasta and they gave my husband the steak. But, they did eventually bring out the pasta he ordered after finding out that was not what he ordered, it was just after I had finished my meal. So sad. Our waiter apologized profusely and they comped us desert for the mistake. We will eat here again, only because it will probably be the only thing open late at night. :(

They won’t split a check. How hard is it to do that? Automatic 20% tip when they don’t have time to even refill water(they were far from busy). Avoid this trap — the view can be nice, but it’s not worth the price.

I had heard so many wonderful things about this place, but was sad to find everything about my experience to be lacking. I ordered takeout, and it took far longer than it should have. The staff wasn’t overly friendly, which was frustrating given how long the wait was. I then got instructed to not look so sad(which was really just bored and hungry). Once I finally got my food(veggie burger and Guinness portobello sandwich), the lackluster experience continued. The burger gained most of its flavor from the overabundance of mayonnaise, and the sandwich… was essentially a burger! If you’re going to have a sandwich, at least make it on good sandwich bread — not the exact same mediocre burger bun as everything else. To top it all off, everything was severely overpriced for the quality. This just leads me to conclude that the only acceptable place for a fast and delicious burger on the island is The Lower Tavern.

Four of us sat at the bar to eat dinner rather than wait an hour for a table. I had a guiness grilled portabella mushroom sandwich with onion rings. Portion was on the small side and the sandwich was decent. If you can sit by the window and overlook Eastsound, do that. Not sure this would be my first or second choice, as there are other places to eat with less wait time and better food. Our bartender was nice and kept me laughing.

Welp, this place was a flop… expensive and not great. Although the clams look good they were awful. The clams themselves were fresh, but the sauce was awful, and when approached about it, they lied saying it was just butter, when it clearly wasn’t. It was hard to get them down. Also their clam chowder was mediocre. I would suggest not coming here.

My club sandwich was amazing and I enjoyed the clam chowder. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Madrona Sunset cocktail though. Overall atmosphere was nice.

Ordered a sandwich with no cheese or mayo. First sandwich arrived with mayo. Sent it back. Second sandwich(still actually the first sandwich) came back with most of the mayo gone, but still plenty between the spinach. Sent it back. Third sandwich(now remade) arrived with CHEESE. Sent it back. Fourth sandwich arrived made correctly(although was likely still the last sandwich, but with the cheese slices removed.) Sandwich was removed from the bill.

Walked in there as they were clearing out a table on the outdoor patio. Asked the lady who greeted us if we could have that table and she said that there were no open tables. It was incredibly hot and dank inside of the restaurant and so we left and went somewhere else. The least she could have done is look around and see the table being clear or let us know how long it would be for an empty table on the patio(assuming my eyes were deceiving me).

Hands down this is the worst restaurant I have been to in a VERY long time if not ever. And the worst part about it is that they can get away with it because there are so few restaurants on Orcas Island. We were suppose to go to dinner at the New Leaf Café just down the street; however, due to timing and our large party we had to change our reservation and switched to here. Big Mistake. I’m not even sure where to start but I guess I’ll begin with service. It is blatantly obvious that the staff here couldn’t care less about their patrons. Water glasses are never refilled, they never check in to see how you are doing, order mistakes are made to the point that is just laughable. Also, if you happened to ask for a refill of water or something they acted as if you were bothering them and your presence was a disgrace. Secondly, the time you have to wait for drinks and food is outrageous. We were here celebrating a special weekend so we had tons of conversation and entertainment with our large group but even with that you could tell everyone in our party was starting to get frustrated with the wait. Finally when the food came I have to say it was absolutely awful. You know it is bad when the only thing that is edible and slightly good is the side of fries that came with the fish and chips. The spinach salad is just that… Spinach. A plate full of it and basically none of the toppings that are suppose to come with it. By all means whatever you do, do not order the Summer Seafood Stew. Worst dish I have had probably ever. The color of it is unappealing(the broth was a weird neon pink color). It also tasted like eating nothing. The salmon special of the night was very mediocre. The salmon was cooked fine but the dish and the sides had no flavor. The fish and chips dishes were nothing special and the burgers here are just plain old burgers. We definitely were not going to order dessert based on the previous wait time or the quality of the food so we tried to get the heck out of there but per the theme of the night we had to wait forever for the bill. Please by all means avoid this restaurant at all costs.

Their fish and chips are actually quite good, and the view from the deck is beautiful. I ordered a side salad to replace the chips and it was alright, nothing special. The veggie sandwich on the lunch menu is satisfying and fresh. I’ve heard the burger is good too, and worth ordering again. My mom really enjoyed her peppery Bloody Mary, though my mixed drink was just a bit too sweet(and I like sweet). I’ll be back again to enjoy more fish and chips, with a hard cider perhaps.
