Pretty good spot for experiencing the Brooklyn edge. Bakyard is cool too.

Came by for an Art Show last night and it was great! Super Divey spot with amazing art work on the out side of the walls and on the inside. Pop up bars on the inside and a brick over joint on the outside in the backyard with bunch of sit down picnic tables. What more can you ask for. Also through the backyard you can walk into another spot called the Well I believe which is a cool bar with lots of beer choices. Dope block with super cool spots.

I’ve been here for a bunch of parties in recent history and every single time, this has proven to be one of the best venues to have a great time in. Most of the parties I’ve been to here, have had a great underground feel, while there’s also an outdoor hangout area and the whole bar open for more fun on the lower side. I’ve yet to experience any sort of trouble here and find that even the people that come through tend to be chocked full of positive vibes. I had two tickets to the pillow fight after-party that was held here this past Saturday and didn’t go and I know it must have been a ton of fun, just like all the others. Kind of kicking myself for missing out.

My friends and I had never even heard of The Wick, but after we saw Budos here the other week we’ve sworn to come back! It’s pretty spacious, both inside and out. I love their outdoor section filled with benches, string lights, wall murals, and even a food cart. I’m just not a fan of having a separate building for the restrooms. Otherwise, the sound system was pretty good. It’s just that the standing room space isn’t convenient to see the stage if you’re short like me. And yes, the bar serves drinks in plastic cups — but they fill them ¾ of the way with liquor for $ 7, which isn’t bad for a music venue. This place has a lot of potential! Definitely going to keep an eye out for more shows here.

Came here for Budos Band in October, 2014. A lot of significant downsides, unfortunately cast a shadow and the several upsides. The downsides: 1) No phones. The show was sold out online and I wanted to call ahead to see if there were tickets available at the door. Called 3 times, each time getting a series of recorded messages, without any option to talk to the box office. 2) No credit cards. When I finally got to the venue, I was surprised to learn that I couldn’t use a credit card to buy the tickets. There was an ATM, but that just means that the venue saves on credit card fees, and you – the customer – eat those fees. Seems out of step with most venues. 3) No infrastructure. Doesn’t seem like there is either a heating or cooling system, as far as I could tell. I wouldn’t want to be here in mid-summer or mid-winter. Construction lights hang from the ceiling and slabs of sheetrock are oddly missing from behind the bar as if the construction crew put down their tools and walked out in the middle of their shift. Lighting is uneven. Are there emergency exits? The upsides: 1) The atmosphere. I definitely liked the atmosphere of a former brewery repurposed for shows, rather than a slick venue. Loved the exposed brick walls and a sense of mystery that pervades. 2) The yard. A big yard — with many benches — makes a great place to hang out in while the opening band played. There was a lonely vendor selling sandwiches. 3) The bathrooms. This sounds silly, but compared with the dilapidated and unfinished state of everything else, the bathrooms were modern, well-lit, and sanitary.

Came here for Dixon on 7÷4÷2014 and had a blast. It was a bummer that it had rained, as the venue had to put a tent up, but sound was good wherever you were. Definitely a bare bones kind of place. Beers are priced as you would expect — a little higher than they need to be — and come in plastic cups. Very minimal seating. But you wouldn’t want to be sitting, would you? You want to be dancing! People monitor the bathroom, which helps with keeping the stalls clean during the all-day and night parties. Love the tasteful murals and touches, like a disco ball hanging from a fake tree.

The Wick is a great location for parties, concerts and just to hang out. I went for a Spotify/Blue Moon event Delta Spirit performed. Great space, rooftop area outside with great artwork and the pulled pork sandwiches are delicious.

This might be my new favorite venue in NYC! Friendly bouncers and bartenders. Huge outdoor space full of picnic tables and beautiful people. The bathroom set up in a separate building is a little weird but I grew to love it. I didn’t understand how this giant venue only sold 400 tickets until I stepped into the main room with the stage, which is pretty small compared to the property. It was so hot that I had to take breaks from dancing every 15 – 20 minutes. They need to ventilate better. I was in front of a fan but it was still overbearingly hot. The sound was great though! And did I mention all the beautiful people? It was the perfect place for the DFA party on Saturday.

Finally. With fewer and fewer great venues for music, finally there’s a new place worth going to. This is the best new place to see a show. The space is incredible. The owner has held on to the industrial history of the place(it was a brewery once upon a time), and it’s cavernous, but ingeniously divided. The stage area is big, the sound is really good, and the stage is located so that it’s easy to see from pretty much any spot in the room. Can’t wait until the outdoor beer garden is finished. Go.

This place is crazy. I had to add it to Unilocal.Does that make me hipster? Hipster squared for being the first to review it too? Oh my. Well, this place just opened up and it’s massive. It’s also connected to a ton of other music related enterprises and places to get your drink on. The outdoor space is also massive. Everything here is massive. Lemme just say that. Massive. I came here with a few friends to see A Place to Bury Strangers play. The acoustics were really good and the lighting effects really shined. No pun intended. The vibe of the whole place is really… Brooklyn…really industrial. The bar was right outside of the stage area and if you wanted to walk around, you had plenty of leg room to do so. Downstairs there was another bar and something going on in the business down there that you could just walk right into. There were also people just chillin’ hard downstairs. A vendor was selling chips and other kinds of food outside too. You have to see a show here if you even remotely like music. Tickets were cheap. The ATM fee is also pretty low…$ 2.00. I came here to see alternative music and Joe Budden is playing here too. They seem down to book any type of music and that is awesome. To get to the bathrooms is kind of a commute and when we went, all exits were final. Not sure if that applies across the board or not. Parking is easy to find, but just make sure you check for that twilight street sweeper session time.
