Fancypants Baking

A friend mailed us cookies from Fancy Pants around Halloween. My husband, who is not normally a fan of sweets, went nuts for them. I knew I had to get him more for Chanukah. I wanted a mix of the various Chanukah cookies, one for each of the eight nights. (Cue Adam Sandler.)
When the website did not have exactly what I wanted, I emailed customer service. They were incredibly responsive and helpful. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted, shipped exactly when I needed it. The cookies were fresh and packed so well you would have thought they were Ming vases! My husband was thrilled with his treats and I admit, I ordered a few extra to enjoy myself.
The price is high, as is the quality. However, due to the prices, Fancy Pants cookies will probably be a ‘sometimes food’ (credit to Cookie Monster). Worth the occasional indulgence — and so nice to encounter such responsive and friendly customer service!

It’s so hot in Long Beach today that it’s too hot to go to the beach or ride your bike. One of those days where you wait inside for it to hit 6 p.m. so you can finally go out and enjoy the fresh air. It’s not one of those days where snacking on frosted shortbread cookies sounds like a good idea. I had sorbet, ice cream, and cold cantaloupe awaiting me, but I went for the cookie. .. I always go for the cookie. For our wedding anniversary, a friend of mine from Norwood, MA (here’s a shout-​out to anyone from Norwood, MA who knows my friend Boston-​Andi) had given me and my husband two beautifully decorated shortbread cookies she had bought while she was visiting the ecoast. One was a simple red heart that said «love,» and the other was of a frog-​prince. She said she saw them in the bakery section of a store in Boston, and they jumped out at her. The cookies are so cute and make such personable gifts. Additionally and more importantly, they are delicious! I had mine with iced black coffee, and the perfect not-​too-​sweetness made my day. They seem like they’d be great party favors for birthday parties, showers, or even weddings (in replacement of the customary horrible stale chocolates wrapped in tulle and tied with a ribbon engraved with the bride’s and groom’s names. Stale chocolate is edible in desperate times, but tulle and satin ribbon aren’t, so why bother? Give cookies instead!). I looked fancypants up and they deliver throughout the country, so they’ll reach California Unilocal friends.

The giveaways from my company’s holiday party last month were holiday-​themed shortbread cookies from Fancypants Bakery. I didn’t really think much of it… until I bit into one. These cookies are seriously the best shortbread cookies I’ve ever tasted. In addition, they’re adorable-​looking, happy cookies! You can’t beat that combo (unless, of course, the cookies could also somehow only be 5 calories each… which will never happen). They’re a bit expensive, however, at $ 4 a cookie, to consume these as frequently as one would like… but they’re definitely worth it for an occasional splurge to treat yourself.

For all of you out there looking for yummy cookies, make sure not to miss these short-​bred treasures. You will not be disappointed. Trust me, the icing is to die for. I will admit that I had a leftover one that I hadn’t eaten in several months and in a moment of extreme hunger, I broke down and swear to all that is holy, it was great. Order online and taste cookies that my friend Trent, who is a giant 6 foot 6 guy will do a little dance when he gets one. Cookies that make giants dance. That should be their slogan.
