The Tavern at Camp Creek

Very slow service!!! We waited 45 minutes for our wings to come. The waitress tried to explain afterwards that 45 minutes is a normal wait time. They ended up giving us a 15% discount for the wait for but I definitely won’t back!!! Beware of the wait for food here!!! Grade F–

I am a big fan of the original JR Crickets. I was a waitress for 5 years so when I go to places like this I do not expect 5 star service BUT I do expect service. We waited a while before we were greeted which is cool, wasn’t too upset about that. But to be there for an hour plus and still not have food in front of us was unacceptable! The people around us that came after us were even eating. All the waitress would say is «It’ll be up shortly»… after hearing that broken record for the third time we decided to leave ONLY because I’m an over-​tipper and I didn’t even want to give her the satisfaction of my money in her pocket. Either A) she was a bad waitress to begin with or B) she wasn’t concerned with our experience because we were young and black and the thought we wouldn’t tip.

Went in on a friday. Waitress was nice. Ordered lemon pepper wings, shrimp with fries and cheese sticks. There was only a little seasoning on wings. Waitress argued it would be extra if sent back so I didn’t. Check at the end of the night was $ 28.82. Paid with a card an zero’d the tip but gave $ 10 from my pocket. Checked my account and see I was charged $ 38.56! They just steal from you? PLEASE DON’T GO THERE! I’ll be resolving this tomorrow and will have my money back plus that tip I gave her!

Run, don’t walk. I travel a lot for work and prefer to try local restaurants that I can not go to at home. This place provided one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a very long time. The server was pleasant. We ordered nachos as an appetizer. I asked the server if they used melted cheddar cheese on their nachos or cheese sauce. She stated cheese sauce and cheddar. Well, I don’t expect Velveeta cheese sauce on nachos at a restaurant. I’m not at a movie theater! I asked for the shredded cheese. So maybe it was my fault. We received a small plate of tortilla chips with no more than a couple tablespoons shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Not melted. Nothing else. Does that qualify as nachos? Me and my buddy each ordered a salad. Some cheap iceberg lettuce a little tomato and mushroom. We were provided very cheap plastic utensils with which to eat our dinner. This place is a sit down restaurant which serves crab! It is not a takeout restaurant. Plastic utensils? My suggestion — if you want anything more than a beverage, go elsewhere.

I have just been reminded of why I stay away from establishments in camp creek. I visited on a Wednesday night and ordered a chicken Philly w/​fries. After a 30 min wait my food came out warm at best. Remind you that it wasn’t busy this night. The manager offered to remake my order bit at the price of waiting another 30 minutes no thank you. Will not be visiting this establishment any more.

Will venture to a different location next time. I ordered the chili shrimp (starter) when I arrived. I waited 15 minutes before our waitress returned to tell me that they were «out of the sweet chili shrimp». Not a big deal. I wait another 15 minutes before the waitress returns to take my new order: a fried shrimp wrap. I waited exactly 43 minutes and decided to cancel my order. The waitress brings my wrap after I cancel. Nice gesture, but after almost waiting an hour I am no longer hungry. The floor was sticky for whatever reason, to the point of irritation. I should order crab legs and wings next time. Maybe those dishes will be made at a quicker pace.

Music so out of date. The waitress looks so drained and uninterested. The bathrooms where nasty. Toilet water every where. No one was inviting and warm. I’m old school. When a person comes in your place of business spending their hard earned money you treat them with RESPECT. At least acknowledge that they are there.

It’s hit or miss with this spot… I will say the service has gotten better. The drinks have always been decent — they have added a lot more high tables… I plan on giving it more chances.

I used to eat at the Tavern on Wednesdays & Sundays about twice a month until recently. On Wednesday May 6^th, 2015, I ate at the Tavern with a total of 3 adults and 1 child. Two adults ordered the Crab Leg Special (which had gone up $ 1 in price), another ordered nachos & the child had French fries. The crab legs taste like sea water and grass with poor seasoning. The serving sizes was much smaller than I can remember. Each adult ordered the Soco Cherry Slush (adult beverage) which was the Wednesday Special for $ 6. Upon check out the waitress brought out 3 separate checks with several errors. 1. The price of the drink was $ 2 more than the actual listed price. I asked the waitress why is the price different and she stated «the drink is only on sale on Sundays». I asked the waitress to bring me the menu to show her the correct price. After 10 minutes had gone by she came back to say she could not find a menu, I explained to her that I was willing to wait until she found one. 10 minutes later she came back with a menu that was missing a few pages, I confronted her about the issue and expressed that she did not take any of the pages out. I expressed to her that it was worth the argument and the $ 2 overcharge would be her tip from me (she had overcharge each of the 3 adults which totalled to $ 6). Upon closing out my bill I gave the waitress $ 30, my bill was $ 24.30. When she returned she handed me $ 1.65 and I asked her if she could add. By my calculations I was supposed to have $ 5.70 in change. Upon looking at my receipt she had charged me an additional $ 4.05 in tip fees. I asked the waitress who gave her the authority to take a large tip out of my change without my consent (by large I mean more than 10%). I asked the manager on duty, she refused to speak with me and stated that in the menu it says any table with a bill over $ 70 is subject to a gratuity charge. Each person at my table paid a separate bill but was the same $ 4.05 tip fee in addition to the extra $ 2 from drink that was recorded at an increased priced. After I spoke with waitress about all of my concerns, extremely loud music (can’t hear my own self talk) and the charges on bill I asked her to tell the manager that we would not be eating at this establishment anymore.

Gross ppl work there and service is terrible. Food is not good at all! BEWARE Anywhere on Camp Creek Pkwy has nasty customer service skills along with the food. If going out drink and eat first, so that you want notice none of it

I have to say the wings are good, but the customer service there is really bad. From the manager, which I heard is also the owner to the employees needs some customer service training. you can sit anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes before a server even notice you. If your unprofessional, you can hang with manager and his staff.

The reason I am giving 1 star is because the tavern consistently gives incorrect orders and lacks basic restaurant customer service. On average the staff and ownership seem to have low morale as well as low concern for the reputation of the tavern. It seems that it thrives due to having low competition in the area. I advise them to take heed to the shift in population in the southwest area of metro atlanta and upgrade your service standards, food prep standards, pr and also a stellar accountant.

Unless you have plenty of time and like horrible service I would not come here… Waited 20 minutes. Please watch another table get 30 when you go all cold left after 20 more minutes I couldn’t take it.

Ugh! No, no, and NO! Where do I start? Okay so I walk in and I seat myself. Two waitresses look at me dead in my face then proceed to avoid me like I had the plague. FINALLY after sitting a good 15 minutes, one of the waitresses relented and brought me a menu. I had never been there before, but I heard the wings were awesome. After another 10 minutes she came back to take my drink order. I was thinking at this rate, I might not get my food until tomorrow. Let me just say it wasn’t extremely busy so there was no excuse for the lack of attentiveness by the waitresses. So I tell her I want a 1800 coconut and cranberry. She repeats back to me 1800, coke, and cranberry. Now I’m not a huge drinker but who in the hell would order 1800, coke, and cranberry? That sounds rancid! But whatever. We order 20 wings & fries. Then the waiting game begins. We wait. We wait. We wait some more. By the grace of God, she looks over to see my death stare. If you’ve never seen my death stare, ask my kids about it. It can bring a grown man to his knees. She brings the drinks over and you can tell by the condensation that had formed on the cup, they’d been sitting there for a while. To make a long story short, the night continues with more waiting, and playing the game of «who can flag the waitress down». The guy next to me holds his empty Heineken bottle up in the air, the international symbol for «bring me another, please» she walks over and ask would you like another one? I’m floored. I’m like WTF do you think he wants? Meanwhile if it can’t get any worse, they’re playing pandora in the background! I cannot make this ish up! Commercials and all! I can’t deal. I really cannot. I could have hooked my iPhone up to a jam box and I would have had the crowd rocking. But whatever. In conclusion, the wings were good, but not sure if they’ll be enough to make me go back.

Ratchet is all I have to say. The waitress… she ratchet. The food… It’s ratchet. Wings taste old and fries were not fresh. The fish and chips… Made with mushy over cooked tilapia-​ratchet. And they only give you 1 piece. (I guess so you won’t hurl) FYI… Lunch specials, not special for $ 6. 6 wings for $ 6=$ 1 per wing. Not worth it. Paid and left with a to go box to throw in the trash. (To be nice). Lol.

Absolutely horrible don’t waste your time no one knows what they’re doing!!! Definitely overcharged for a well vodka who charges 650 for a tiny well vodka! The man sitting next to me had the same thing for half the price. I would hate to think it’s because I am a different nationality!!! Tried to pay our tab to leave and the waitress carried the money around for 20 minutes in her hand before she offered to give us change. Did she expect us to leave without getting our change it appeared so. Tipped her only because I have been in the service industry she did not deserve it!!! Best thing that could happen to this place is to close!!! You know there’s something fishy going on when a police officer walks in and immediately walks to the back of the kitchen to talk to his buddies. Great little Mexican restaurant in the same shopping center serves a great cocktail and not overpriced!

I was able to attend a Zumba class at The Tavern @ J.R. Crickets. I was happy because I love Zumba and the place is not too far from home. Not much was done to the place since they already have a dance floor and a few chairs and tables were moved. I truly enjoyed this class. it was fun, the music was great and the choreography was easy to follow. The instructor normally teaches at L.A. fitness but this was something special for Breast Cancer Awareness. Hopefully they’ll bring it back.

Called in my order ahead since I was going on my lunch break. Was told it’d be 15 minutes. Showed up on tine and waited an additional 20 minutes. 35 minutes for 6 wings? Ridiculous. And overpriced

Food cool, no specials Wed. but, I guess cause there was Live Band. Best part of night was when I noticed my waitress was from behind the bar & on stage singing Angie Scott songs… she needs to replace the actual singer in the band (sorry to say) but, serious cause she’s much better!

I can’t believe I’ve lived in Atlanta for 10 years and never eaten at JR Crickets. When my date suggested we eat there Friday I was less than jazzed. After reading reviews I was again underwhelmed.
I am happy to report that none of the other reviews rang true for my experience at the Tavern.
The atmosphere is definitely «hood wing spot» and not «sports bar» like they probably want. Yes there are tvs but they are just kinda there. The tables are in complete dissarray and there doesn’t seem to be a real pattern.
We arrived at almost 8pm and had no problem finding a table. Our server was super friendly and came right over with menus. She was equally attentive the entire evening.
Drink specials were on and I was happy to be drinking grey goose for $ 5 each.
They have a decent menu, but I wanted to try the famed wings. The wings were good. They were fried hard like I like them (I can’t stand rubbery chicken). The fries were good, but could have used a little more salt. I added my own.
The music was decent. Typical urban stuff. It did get loud, but we just talked louder.
There are two «private» areas off to the side that I assume you can reserve. That night a group of frat brothers were holding it down.
There is a small stage (I assume for karaōke) but the patrons used it for dancing as it got later. So the Tavern kinda turned into the club. It was cool though and somewhat entertaining.
Now that I have been I can definitely see myself going back for cheap drinks, decent food in a super casual atmosphere.
