Sakura Sushi Cafe

I’m picky with sushi, the rolls are always good, their sushi pizza here is delicious.
The staff is always very nice and I order from here quite often.

I ordered the 3 roll special (1 spicy salmon roll, one spicy tuna crunch, one philadelphia) and a chicken katsu don.
They gave me 2 spicy salmon rolls that weren’t spicy at all. It didn’t taste bad overall.
The philadelphia roll was ok but way too heavy on the cream cheese.
The worst was the chicken katsu don. The chicken arrived completely soggy with what appears to be an egg mixed in. the rice is bland and the entire dish is overall lacking sauce. I took 2 bites and felt disappointed that I just wasted 9 $
Their delivery service is lacking.

So first I am going to tell you what I look for in good sushi, I look for the quality of the ginger and the quality of the fish. I ordered their three combo roll with salad and soup with a yellow fin tuna and a smoked salmon which they butchered. The quality of the fish was not good at all it was discolored and looked sick. I had a spicy tuna roll which I had with and without wasabi which was also very weak. For what my order came to which was 30.00 after I tipped the delivery guy who actually got to my house pretty fast. So what I am saying is if you want cheap sushi for a big price then I recommend going here but personally I was not happy with my experience and I recommend trying something else. And to any of the people who give this place a 4 star review I would recommend trying Yuzu much better for the price and let’s be honest nobody likes getting sick for bad fish

While the food wasn’t bad I wasn’t really wowed by anything. It’s ordinary no frills sushi for an affordable price. Not a bad deal for a quick filling lunch. They are on eat24 for online order and they offer a three roll lunch special for $ 10.95 which includes optional miso soup or salad.
The shitake rolls were good. The mushrooms are sautéed in teriyaki prior to preparation. I also ordered spicy shrimp rolls but they were really shrimp tempura rolls with spicy sauce on top. In other sushi restaurants there’s usually a distinction and I’ve had it where the shrimp wasn’t breaded. There was a lot of breading and not much meat and the spicy sauce albeit good covered up the contents of the roll so you couldn’t see the proportions. The salmon rolls weren’t the best but still edible. The cut of salmon wasn’t too great. It was light in color with a lot of white lines. Much more than usual. It also didn’t seem to be a solid piece. It was two or three pieces combined for appearances. These were also supposed to be salmon avocado rolls but I guess they ran out of avocado. I’m guessing because no one made any mention of it. The miso soup wasn’t very flavorful either. Something tasted off. I added some soy sauce to it and that gave it some flavor. Potent wasabi — check, fresh tasting ginger — check.
Pickup process was quick and painless. I was in and out. The presentation was good. The employees were friendly. The restaurant itself isn’t much to look at. It is a bit concerning that the place was empty at 1pm. I guess it’s no wonder that other restaurants in this small shopping center are closing down. Papa Louie’s is closed and it looks like Bread Box is next because they are always closed whenever I drive by.
I’m not impressed but I’m not mad at them either.

I just had a Delivery Last Night. The sushi was absolutely delicious! and came very fast

Ordered take out from here the other day. Delivery was within the time frame given and they have multiple coupons online to use.
I ordered the banana roll (SP2), Tokyo roll, eel avocado roll (R06), and the yellow tail roll (R15). The Bahana roll contained a great amount of tuna inside and outside of the roll which contained a thicker slice of tuna than I am used to, but it was a nice surprise. The Tokyo roll by far had the most amount of fish, a really great awesome amount of fish. The eel avocado, however, was a completely different story as the eel was a little sliver inside the roll. The fish in the yellow tail roll was the same amount as I have seen in other restaurants. The fish quality was a little bit above average, but the rice didn’t taste too fresh. Had the rice been better this review would definitely have been 4 stars.
The price is pretty good, but I would rather pay the same amount or a little bit more and go to Mushroom, Liki, or Kotabuki in Roslyn.

I order from Sakura once a week without fail. The absolute best authentic sushi and bubble tea at a price you can’t beat! Both their lunch and dinner 3 spicy roll specials are amazing and I love their mango flavored bubble tea. I always ask for spicy mayo and crunchies on the side to compliment my spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. The spicy tunna crunchy roll is great too!
Great little takeout place very close by from home.

I absolutely love this sushi ‘café.’ I’ve been here about 7 times now and ordered out 4 times.
There’s usually no one sitting down and eating when I come in. I come mostly with my parents. Here’s our normal order: Ginger Ale all around. (They give you a can with a glass of ice) I get the miso soup, my dad gets the avocado salad, and my mom gets a chicken or shrimp appetizer. Then we split sushi. We always get the Loving Roll and the Spicy Lover roll. Then depending on how hungry we are we order another roll (Tiffany roll, spider roll, or just a spicy tuna or salmon roll).
If you spend $ 25 or more sitting inside, then you get 15% off (which essentially pays for almost your tip.) The lady inside is super nice. She’s your sever and also takes care of the to go orders. The to go orders are always coming in. The sushi chef is always going when we’re in there as well as the delivery man. Delivery usually takes about 45 minutes which is terribly long for a busy night.
I seriously recommend coming here! So inexpensive and really good sushi.

Good good, terrible delivery! I was specific about my office location, and got a phone call saying «I’m outside your office.» No, he wasn’t. I called the restaurant, and they said «He’s in his car, he couldn’t park.» I said I couldn’t leave my office. Then they said «No, wait, he can’t go to the floor you’re on.» I said I was on the first floor, a public office that’s visible from the building entrance. I then get a call back from the delivery man who has asked some random woman to translate for him. He didn’t understand the office number, and said it didn’t exist. It’s posted in large letters above the door to my office. Come on!
I’m not ordering from here again.

My boyfriend and I really enjoy this place. We order from here usually once a month. We use Grub Hub to order. Delivery is usually pretty quick. The prices are a little high and i don’t like sushi but my boyfriend does. I usually just get chicken teriyaki and he gets a chicken teriyaki with a California roll. The food is really good and definitely worth the money. The delivery guy is always friendly and if it is passed 8 or 9 he doesn’t ring the doorbell he just calls us to let us know he is outside. Great place.

Nice local Sushi spot. I’ve ordered their sushi many times, and you get slightly more than you pay for. Always order off their lunch special menu, because you get 3 rolls + soup/​salad for $ 10. Their Spicy Shrimp and Spicy Yellowtail are my two favorites. It’s nothing like sitting at an upscale Sushi Restaurant, but Sakura will hit the spot for a cheap price.

I absolutely love this place! It’s low key and the staff is so kind and accommodating! I found this to be my quick take out spot until yesterday when I actually sat in and enjoyed the quiet calm atmosphere! On top of that you get 15% to dine in so why not if you have the time! I also got the chicken teriyaki from here and I must say it is absolutely amazing! The quality of the chicken was nice and tender and they make their own sauce which made it taste that much better! Everyone is different but I say don’t knock it til you try it!

The rating of two and a half stars on this was pretty accurate. I ordered a two roll lunch and beef teriyaki lunch. The sushi was ok for flavor, but the texture was horrible. It was like all the ingredients were there and someone pulverized them in a food processor. The teriyaki was very bland and the meat tasted frozen. I only tried it because I was desperate for a good delivery sushi place nearby. I was disappointed.

When you want sushi, but not the craziness of other places, come to Sakura.
Two very important points should be brought up– the front of the house is slow and the service lacking. I have gotten my order wrong before.
However, this shouldn’t reflect on the food. Very tasty, and the udon is great to share.
Be sure to come hungry yet patient.

I ordered delivery that showed up after 1and½ hours. When I finally do get the food I’m starving and barely have interest in eating it because its really not good at all. I got 3 rolls spicy salmon, spicy tuna and volcano roll. All 3 of them were worse than any sushi I’ve previously had. Just plain disappointed all the way around. Hope I have better luck with the next place because I’m not eating this again.

Absolutely delicious, not to mention convenient! Plus, I am so happy to have a place to buy bubble tea that’s so close to my house.
By the way, I recommend the mochi ice cream.

I love how they have an assortment of sushi rolls (especially ones without seafood as i am allergic). The steak hibachi is amazing, i havent tried everything on the menu but hopefully I will lol. Also try the desserts the tempura cheesecake is pretty cool.

Food is good and definitely affordable, they do a lunch special which is like $ 9 for three rolls and a soup or salad.
The draw backs, the décor leaves much to be desired.
The waitress kinda screwed me twice, one we showed up and missed the lunch special cut off by like 2 minutes and she wouldn’t cut us a break… Not that big of a deal considering they do a similar deal for dinner for like $ 11. The second issue was once I was in there and mentioned i’d be doing the lunch special, so to save time I said we would all like to start with the house salads. Turns out she thought we were just ordering house salads on the side and not in the combo lunch special. It was essentially the same amount of salad but just presented in a different bowl. When I asked her about it she said «ohh no you ordered regular side salad, not combo lunch salad» so i clarified with her that just because it was in a different bowl that the price was double? And i guess not realized how stupid she sounded she agreed with me lol.
Worth stopping in for lunch, they even did a deal for 15% off if you eat there. Of course they’re clever and realized that they’ll more than compensate for the discount from the tip you leave… sneaky sneaky
I highly recommend the eel and avocado roll.

I only pop my head into Sakura because it’s one of the few places to get bubble tea in this part of Nassau. All the tasty standards like strawberry, melon, taro etc are on the menu. The tapioca is fresh and chewy… when it’s in stock. When they run out, they put «fruit bubbles» in. Roughly translated, fruit bubbles are little fruit flavored balls (think caviar, just filled with syrup and not fish goo) that you can pop with your teeth. Meh… sort of changes the taste of things like taro bubble tea but it’ll do.
Staff is quite polite, meals are extraordinarily inexpensive and good for takeout but this place just seems amiss to me. I can’t quite put my finger on it… perhaps it’s just too empty and cold for my taste? Sure, it’s very clean and recently redone but I can’t quite get over the fishy smell that often emanates around the restaurant. The sushi is, well, just okay. Not amazing, not too terrible. You sort of play sushi (Russian) roulette with little places like Sakura. Whatever the deal is, I can assure you there are better spots in the area to get your fishy fill on. Grab your bobba, make like a fetus and headout!

This use to be one of our favorite spots until we ordered lunch today… First they forgot our bubble tea and the delivery guy had to bring it back after we finished lunch… Second they did not give us our «free dragon roll» as advertised and when asked about it they told us to tell them next time we order to give us a free dragon roll … Customer service is lacking…
However the sushi itself is pretty good, the bubble tea is tasty… However it could have more tapioca pearls… I would give the food 4stars but the poor customer service and bad attitude of the staff brings it down to 2 stars…
