I didn’t feel like I was taken care of. The doctor spoke with me for maybe 2 or 3 min and just handed me an rx. Will not return to this office again.

I had a really nasty fall down a flight of concrete steps with metal tips on them. Needless to say I was in a lot of pain. The pain was mostly in my lower back in the muscles(not the actual spine). I was pretty sure I didn’t break anything, if I did I wouldn’t have been able to walk(which I was) and if I did think I had a fracture in my spine I would have went to the emergency room and not a walk-in clinic. After two nights without sleep and pain that nearly took my breath away I decided to come here(my regular doctor was on vacation). My mother drove me(no way I was driving) and we arrived at noon. I walked in and saw no one sitting in the waiting room so I thought the visit would be quick. Boy was I wrong. The receptionist told me the doctor was at Winthrop university hospital and he would be in about an hour. I was not happy. When you are in excruciating pain a minute seems like an hour. Apparently this walk in clinic is just a one man show(no other doctors were even available to fill in). So we left and went to Walgreens so my mom could pick up a few things(I waited in the car). We went back about 45 minutes later and decided to wait if the doctor still wasn’t around. The doctor showed up about ten minutes after we went back. I was the only one in the waiting room at the time so of course I figured the visit would be quick. Again I was wrong. After waiting in the waiting room for 40 minutes the doctor finally was able to see me(by this time three more patients showed up). I figured this would be quick as I wasn’t there for a physical or anything too complex. Maybe I’d get an xray and then I’d be on my way with prescriptions for pain, inflammation and muscle relaxation. AGAIN I was wrong. My heart rate was normal(and I don’t have any heart problems or even a history of it in my family) and the doctor decided to do an EKG which turned out normal. Then he drew blood to send out for a battery of blood tests. My only symptom was pain in my lower back! Finally I was able to leave. He sent me on my way with prescriptions. I was back there for over an hour. AND get this… he didn’t even order an XRAY on my back! This doctor does blood tests and an EKG but not XRAYS for my chief complaint? I figure this doctor had some scam going on and he wanted to bill my insurance for the EKG and such. So after showing up, waiting an hour for the doctor to actually get there, waiting 45 minutes to actually get called back and another hour getting tests run on me I think I would have done better in the actual ER. At least he gave me meds that worked wonders for the pain and spasms but still. I wasted half the day just waiting around when I was in excruciating pain. The whole point of going to a walk-in clinic/urgent care is so you can be seen right away and quickly… not according to this place! At least the front office staff was friendly.
