Apollo Diner

Decent diner — similar to others in the area. We came for lunch yesterday during work and grabbed a bite. I had the Greek salad (basically the only thing I ever order from diners because FETA!) which was very good. A bit smaller than I expected but it could have been the lunch portion. Best part was that it came with a BOWL of dressing so you could choose exactly how much you wanted on your salad. All of our meals came with coleslaw and pickles which was an awesome touch as well.
Our waiter was a little abrasive, but nothing out of the ordinary for a LI diner. We had a good time, good food and decent service. Not my favorite diner in the area for sure, but I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back again.

We showed up with a large party, 27 people. Two servers waited on us, it was great. The food came out hot, they checked on everyone to make sure we were enjoying our meals. Our group age range was from 4 to 83. We all found something we wanted and enjoyed. Great place to eat.

Had been going here for years watching prices increase dramatically while food quality decreased. Since their recent renovations, the prices are astronomical!!! The food is normal diner food, nothing special. Definitely not worth the price especially with the shrinking portions. The wait staff had always been very friendly but on my LAST visit the young girl at the register couldn’t even be bothered to look up or say thank you as I paid for my greasy overpriced meal.

Haven’t been here in awhile though it’s always been an old standby. Recently renovated, no big deal but the staff is completely different. Worst waitress ever! If I am reading the menu intently it means I am not ready to order! OMG. We had to send her away more than once and she didn’t get it! Like we’re inconveniencing her! Then she screws up my order. Moron.

We returned to this diner after they were closed for renovations. The booths, tables and tvs are all new and updated. Many items on the previous menu were not found including our usual favorites. However we did find items which we ordered and enjoyed. The stuffed sole with spinach & feta along with zuccini and string beans were all well prepared. We chose not to have potato., instead choosing a second cooked vegetable.

Not sure why there are such negative reviews. It’s a diner, not a fine dining restaurant. It’s good at what it’s supposed to do, I might’ve had one bad server out of the hundred times I’ve been here, owner is nice. Never really had a problem. I get the omelets pretty often and the Greek food is also pretty good.

Ok so I’ve been to this diner once or twice before but after this visit I’ll never come here again ! After a late showing at the movies myself and a few friends figured why not hit up a diner if we would’ve knew what would unfold at this dump we would’ve thought otherwise so we walk in the diner the owner & I assume his sister which is also a waitress are sitting talking Greek & observing a table across the room the owner finally notices us & sits us down we order with his I assume sister the waitress get our food which was subpar up until then so was the service but we’re about halfway done with our meal & we see the table that was being stalked start to get up pay & walk out then we see a girl from the group walk over to the bus boy & give him a tip for what was that the owner yelled across the room & said no honey tips goto the waitress «his sister «and the girl replied I know but I’m tipping the bus boy the girl then left, the waitress went back to the table didn’t see a tip and for what was that she flipped and chased after the girls outside and one of the girls actually came back and told them exactly why she wasn’t getting a tip they were talking nasty about them and watching them like Hawks and then the owner continued to argue with her meanwhile there’s about 10 to 12 paying customers trying to enjoy there bland meal at this point I had enough ask the screaming waitress for my check and attempt to pay until the waitress starts yelling at the bus boy saying quote for quote «what are you doing looking out the window who told you you can do that ?» «Where’s my money? Give me my tip» at this point I’m done and told the owner & his waitress this is no way to handle a business especially when you have paying guest that come for an experience more than the food the owner tried to make light of the situation but bottom line is I’ll never go back to this dump and I’m sure they’ll go under soon

I was reluctant to come here for a number of years because I haven’t always heard the best things but I decided to finally give it a try with a friend who needed to go to Eisenhower park right after, and since it’s close by, why not?
We met up for breakfast, which was a pretty good deal. For around $ 10 – 12 dollars, you get juice, coffee, eggs and a side of potatoes. Portions are decent. I got the Greek-​style omelet, which was tasty but the potatoes needed a little bit of seasoning. The service was quick and accommodating.
I still prefer Eastbay diner in terms of overall quality of food and experience but this place really isn’t that bad.

My husband had a burger that he said was one of the best he’d ever had. My French Toast deluxe was awesome. We have been to Apollo numerous times and we plan to return numerous times before we return to our home in Panama City, FL.

Went there yesterday for called in — take out lunch… When I arrived to pick it up, the price had changed by 4 dollars in their favor. I paid it, then I thought to myself WHY? I questioned the cashier, she couldn’t help me, I asked for the owner. Who proceeded to tell me the price online (all
) is not an updated accurate price, and the price they go by is the one in the Diner, and the one online is an old price. I believe, by him knowing this, it becomes ILEAGLE PRICE GOUGING. Long story short, If this guy, the owner, said he would make good on the difference, and gave me a paper menu to take back, I would have taken the difference, and would give it to the waiter who brought out the food… HAD THE OWNER KNEW HOW TO HANDLE, AND DEFUSE A MODERATE SITUTATION, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN UPSCALE. REVIEW…
PS, My wife and I walked out of that same diner about 3 years ago, 4am for a cup of coffee… we were told to seat ourselves, we did, 15 minutes later, the waiters were still too busy talking and laughing about their social lifes. NEVER CAME TO OUR TABLE TO TAKE AN ORDER…

Apollo is your typical Long Island diner. It has a menu with hundreds of items, so the options are bountiful. Breakfast is served all day; did somebody want an omelette for dinner? The prices are reasonable.
The service is quick and very accommodating. I was dining with a couple of patrons whom were extremely picky. They made a couple of complaints which I felt were unnecessary, but the waiter graciously mended their alleged errors and completely satisfied them.

Was a plan b, tried to get into the Colony but that was a zoo. Thankfully Apollo wasn’t crowded. Wife’s banana pancakes were better then my overcooked Italian omelet. My requested well done hash browns, were not. Probably should have just got a waffle.

Diners are diners usually but this one has been around for eons. Went there recently with my girlfriend who swears they have the best burgers.
I had a chicken gyro since I was trying to be a little healthy. Well she ordered a cheeseburger and I took a bite. WOW! It was delicious. I was actually kind of pissed I got the gyro.
Next time Burger all the way!

Absolutely terrible. Just came back from this place and will never go again. Found a green wrapper in my coleslaw. Little fly in my ice water. My burger was undercooked as well. Its sad when you go out to eat and spend your money and get crap. I’m tired of places still in business that cant even get water right.

Great service. Used to come here growing up, since the Apollo first opened. Excellent Eggs Benedict, omelettes and amazing banana cream pie!

Used to live across the street from this diner and stopped in tonight for a quick burger deluxe to go for Eric. He said it was very good but that man will eat anything. The service was quick and the place was clean. Lot of cops frequent the place as well and i always trust a place that cops like. Def go check it out

Wish I didn’t pick up food here as often as I do but it’s a local diner that I pass on my way home from work. I only order a large Greek salad with grilled chicken and blue cheese dressing on the side and extra anchovies. It’s reliable but not always consistently good, which drives me nuts. But, if I’m too lazy or tired to prepare my own dinner, I take what I can get. Service is A-​OK and the staff are always professional.

A mixed experience. Pleasant but slow service.
Food quantity up there, but the bed of sauteed vegetables for the fish was mushy and unseasoned, the french fries lacked crunch.
Overall, filling reasonably priced meal, but there are better diner options out there.

It was just okay for me…
I know I see a lot of really good reviews on here and thats why I came to eat here in the first place but I was not impressed.
I will keep it short and tell you my personal experience quick.
–My eggs were over done (you know when you leave the eggs in the pan they start to get brown and loose that bright yellow color)
–My home fries were under cooked, no flavor whats so ever.
–Service was kinda slow as well.
–I must mention they are great with refilling your coffee cup when your running low =)
All in all I would go back to this diner if in the area and try out what is recommended here, like the pancakes, lunch or dinner.
Won’t be going back for breakfast though =(
I also want to mention that my partner did enjoy the eggs benedict =)
