Best food in town always a great meal ! Fresh from the grill to the table

Holy guacamole. I cannot even describe how delicious the food is from this place. Ive only had their take out, because my father is now obsessed and brings home leftovers almost weekly. Everything I tasted has been phenomenal. The other night my dad got a meat sampler (really big platter, feeds two I think but it fed four of us) so we all tried a little of everything; ribs, steak, corn, chicken/​spinach, kielbasa (I think that’s what they would call it) and there potatoes (made in the most delicious sauce), and a side of black beans. I’ve even had two different soups, which I don’t even know how to describe other than to say, they were amazing. The type of food that you almost can’t wait to have again.
Now I read reviews saying this place has an awkward/​confusing set up when you actually eat there, and I can’t speak to that because I’ve only eaten the take out at home. But considering how frequently my dad eats lunch there, I’m sure it’s improved in that sense.

Skewer with grilled steak/​chicken/​sausage/​veggies delicious. Sauce on potatoes (was that the cilantro sauce?) also great. Good value also.
Menus are a bit confusing — there are maybe three different ones plus some selections w/​photos on the wall.
Could use something more than fountain sodas and coffee/​tea for beverages.
But overall good experience. They sure know how to grill meat!

We came on a whim and it’s now our new favorite spot! The meat is cooked fresh on the grill and very flavorful. We had the mixed grill so we could try a variety. The sausage, bbq ribs, chicken breast, ave steak tips were all fantastic. The corn and roasted potatoes were a great compliment. Their green cilantro sauce is subperb. Could put it on a shoe and eat it! Lol. We can’t wait to go back and try they veggie skewers, smoked chicken and pulled pork. Hidden gem, don’t pass it up!

A favorite «hole in the wall» spot, the food is always delicious and the owners are always friendly and welcoming.
We have gotten the chicken burrito bowl, the hamburger, and the mixed grill plate to share between two — and we have never been disappointed. Ask for the corn with salsa and cheese; it doesn’t come that way by default but is a great «off the menu» option.

I went today for a late lunch. Only me and the owner inside. Attractive interior, very clean looking too, I asked for a menu & he tells me they haven’t any but look at the photos on the wall. Now there were maybe 4 photos! And no real explanation how to order. So I ask how long he’s been open — one year. I was like: come on guy, you need menus.
So I ordered pulled pork with brown rice, black beans, lettuce, guac & sour cream, sample of green sauce went home and ate it all. FREAKING DELICIOUS!
Decided to go back tonight and try the steak bowl and HOLA! Menus! Again food was DELICIOUS. It’s true that it is all fresh tasting. The steak was medium just as I asked, it was cut up into bite size pieces so you didn’t need a knife. Nicely seasoned plus I asked for some cilantro. I hope they stay… I like their food and they have good prices. Steak bowl was $ 8.75 plus a dollar for guacamole. SWEET.

Great food and fresh! I had the chicken bowl and it was everything. Better than Chipoe. Service was on point and friendly.

Food was absolutely delicious! We had the mixed grill and it was huge with lots of variety.
The owners were running it and they were really affable and helpful.

My first time there after my son recommended them. I had the ribs with BBQ sauce and I loved them. I will definitely return. They are still getting menus printed up but the place is very clean and modern and the food smelled great. I recommend you give it a chance.

The steak on my burrito was absolutely perfect. Juicy, cooked well, and not on ounce of fat on any piece. The green cilantro salsa is excellent with the tortilla chips. The staff was also super friendly. I will definitely be back again!

Smoked chicken, out of this world. juicey, not too salty, brilliant. Some special sauce on the fries is also great. Atmosphere is relaxed, portions are perfectly sized. Would come back 100%, recommend to anybody

My boyfriend and I decided to try it for dinner (takeout)on a Saturday night. It was busy but certainly not packed. We placed our order of a simple grilled burger and 1 shrimp skewer. After 45 minutes we asked how much longer and we’re told 5 more minutes 70 minutes total. If we didn’t pre pay we would of left a 40 minutes ago. The couple that arrived 15 minutes after us recieved their dinner way before us. Once we get home I opened our takeout boxes and there was my 4 measly pieces of overcooked shrimp. My boyfriends burger contained everything he didn’t ask for. Terrible service I don’t see it lasting more than a few more months at this rate.

This was the start of my review after my first visit, «A great spot, East Haven desperately needed a place like this! It’s Chipotle-​style, but way better — the food is fresh, the meat is cooked to order, and they have far more options. I’ve only tried the chips & salsa (absolute stand-​outs! Their green cilantro something or other salsa/​sauce was amazing and that alone would be worth coming back for) and their burrito bowls. My boyfriend and I both got chicken burrito bowls which were delicious, loaded with fresh veggies, and again — despite it being 45 minutes prior to closing on a snowy Saturday night, everything was made to order and the service was phenomenal. We were excited to find a place like this locally, there’s a shortage of quick bites in the area outside of your standard pizza/​deli/​Chinese unless you want to venture into New Haven. Sometimes I just don’t want to deal with the parking situation downtown, so again, this was a great find.
Which brings me to our second trip here. My boyfriend summed it up perfectly, «If this was my first time here, I’d never come back». It was 6pm, they were out of a decent amount of stuff, and somehow — even though the steak was cooked made to order, it was cold, flavorless, and very fatty. Fatty to the point that we couldn’t eat it, so we just ate everything else (everything else being rice, lettuce, and pico de gallo).
They can’t seem to make up their mind if they’re a sit down restaurant, or a Chipotle style place. You place half of your order, then you sit and wait for the meat to be done cooking, then you go back up to the counter to tell them what toppings you want on it. How does this work if it’s busy? I don’t get it. We couldn’t find any forks, so I asked the guy at the counter and he put out a basket full of metal forks. Weird. Why don’t they give you silverware with your order? Or have plastic silverware set out? No one ever asked if we wanted drinks, so we helped ourselves to cups and got our own drinks. Oh, then you pay when you’re done eating. but no one gives you a bill or anything, you just go back up to the counter, tell them what you ordered, and pay. It’s just a very strange process, they need to decide what type of restaurant they want to be and go from there. The process isn’t clear, it’s a big guessing game, no one seems to really know what’s going on, they just wing it. We ended up going home and making dinner because we were both still hungry.
I want to blame this on them being new, but they’ve been there for quite a few months at this point and really should have the basics down by now. I’ll likely give them another shot in a few months because I do see the potential, but if my next experience is anything like my most recent, I won’t be back again.

Stopped in last night last minute decision and I was not disappointed. Clean and very friendly staff, looks like family runned. I had the steak sandwich and it was great. Excellent flavor and very filling. The chips and choice of salsa was a welcomed surprise when they brought it out to me, also very good. Will be back again soon! Great addition to center of East Haven.

Great good. Very fresh. Super friendly people. The burrito bowls are amazing. The takeout is fast and delicious. I have been dying to go in and try the food and I’m glad I have. They cook everything on the grill right in front of you and their tortilla chips are really good.

Great local joint. Awesome homemade sauces, cilantro, green tomato, roasted tomato and smokey chipotle. Good food fast. Healthy options. I had the burrito bowl and it was delicious. Tons of food. Very fresh. Nice and helpful staff.
As a caveat, if something is local and fresh and good I always rank higher. This place is great and I will be back for a quick fresh meal!

been there twice the first time the ribs came with hardly any sauce they were like rubber way overpriced for your what you get. the 2 and time back to be fair, was no pleasure either, dried out ribs mushed potatoes and smelly veggie they wont be here long this rate left with two others who were equally surprised with the poor quality

This place is awesome! Grilled skewers with grilled veggies and homemade sauces.
The smell when you walk in is intoxicating!
