Since I’ve been going here recently for girls night, I feel I need to revise my review. Again the drinks are great and generous. The service is always great, unless they are short handed. Even then, I don’t mind, as you can see they are working their butts off. I love the beef tips on arugula salad. You get 5 good size pieces of steak, cooked the way you like. The salad also has red peppers, candied pecans, and goat cheese. It’s very good. My husband had the meatballs(appetizer) last night. The serving size was huge, four large meatballs. There was hardly any sauce, but they brought us more on request. He loved it. They must be doing something right, as it looks like they are adding on… again. I just hope they continue to get good help, as this is critical… and hard to find.

I had been going to Richards Pub on and off for 35 years or so. This used to be one of our favorite places. I used to live in N.K. They had the best corned beef sandwich. Not any more. Went there today 12÷21÷15. The bread was soggy. The fries were cold. And I had to take pieces of the sandwich out of my mouth that just couldn’t be eaten. The service was weak at best. We sat at the bar. And it took forever to get our food. Today they were caught off guard. I don’t think the management of this place thought it would be very crowded today. The place was full. It seem like the kitchen was overwhelmed. I heard the bar tender tell one of the waitresses how something had to be cooked. She then returned to the kitchen. We went there this past summer on Saturday night and had fish & chips. Everything was great. You just never know what your going to get there. But the one thing I know for a fact. This place has never returned to it’s zenith which was the 1980’s. I am all done giving you chances. If you want a GREAT sandwich go to Walt’s Roast Beef on post road in North Kingstown. I have been going there since 1971. And I have NEVER had a bad sandwich there. Not Ever. And the service is much better. The consistency has been unbelievable.

Richard’s Pub has been a go to for my family since I was a kid. My Dad knows the owner and the pub will be celebrating their 40th year in business in 2016. You have to be doing something right to make it this long in the business! The food is always good, the servers on point. I ordered clam chowder and a large garden salad with their homemade Dijon Vinaigrette which was perfect. My Dad also got the chowder and a sausage and peppers sandwich. My sister enjoyed a grilled chicken Caesar salad. I was disappointed that we didn’t get their homemade pickles which are my favorites so that’s why they are getting 4 stars this time. TIP: It does get quite loud in there even during lunch so if you are looking for a quiet place this isn’t it.

Excellent dinner fare here at Richard’s Pub. The food, the drink, the service are always very dependable. You can expect a good crowd any night of the week. Mostly locals, and those waiting for their kids to get out of gymnastics next door, it’s that old-timey place where everyone is very friendly and eager to chat. Their seafood dishes are very good, as well as the chicken wings, potato skins and chix parm sandwiches.

We recently had a rehearsal dinner for about 35 guests in the Function Room at Richard’s. The management(Patrick!) was extraordinarily responsive and accommodating, allowing a major substitution to a buffet entrée and handling a birthday cake addition to the event without hesitation. The Hors d’oeuvres were delicious and the prime rib drew raves, with many of the guests getting leftover takeouts. When you’re from out-of-state and arranging an event over the phone it can be a bit unnerving, with fingers crossed that nothing will go awry, but the Pub personnel handled everything completely professionally and ensured that the evening was perfect. My absolutely highest recommendation!

One of my favorite bars to visit on a Sunday! Additional football menu with hot weinies, pork sliders, pepperoni pizza and chili with nacho chips! Their wings are hands down some of the best around! Try the buffalo… they do not come dredged in buffalo sauce instead they are accompanied by yummy pepperocini. Bartenders are friendly and attentive! Be sure to ask for their pickles and some fresh popped popcorn! Saturday nights they do prime rib… best to call in advance and reserve! Awesome cuts and they are huge and full of flavor. Great spot to either dine at the table or enjoy a drink and some apps at the bar!

Have not been here in years and based on the reviews I was a little leary but glad I tried it! The server asked us if we wanted bread and butter or pickles or popcorn… what? All of this included! We opted for the pickles and popcorn, the pickles were amazing! Homemade pickles for free, definitely one of the best I have had. The popcorn was air popped there and a great treat that was unexpected. We got the French onion soup, it was loaded with cheese, delicious, a must have! The menu states they only serve it as a crock but the waiter said we could get the cup size which was perfect after all of our pickles and popcorn we were filling up on. I got the veggie wrap which had mushrooms, fresh spinach, tomatoes, and onions sautéed with provolone cheese, this came with fresh fruit… keeping it healthy. I asked for some ranch on the side as it needed a little something else. The other orders were the hot Italian grinder(only complaint was the iceberg was a chunk on top not pieces) but he said it had a lot of meat and was delicious. The Reuben sandwich was very lean and tasty and the fries were cooked to perfection. Overall we were very happy with our experience

Great Drinks, Service Issues This old school restaurant is doing some things right and others not so much. Pros: Old school drinks — martinis with side cars Family Business Food — nothing fancy but quality dishes Prices Cons: Service, we go in and wait ten minutes to be asked if we want a drink. Never get a menu have to eventually ask the bartender for one. Finally get our drinks and while waiting for the food, finish them, and never get asked if want another one. They also have popcorn at the bar and every customer is brought a basket except my wife and I. Our food comes and it gets dropped in front of us and we are still not offered another drink. After 5 minutes of eating I have to ask the guy for another drink. Awful Overall: Good food and good drinks, but not good enough to look past the terrible service. Sorry Richard’s, we won’t be back Thanks

Service was very good. The waitress was friendly and upbeat. But I asked her check if they had a very rare piece of prime rib. She checked for me and said they did. I get a well done, very chewy piece that I couldn’t eat. My husband had some pieces since he likes well done meat. Now when we get home, I will be making myself a sandwich to eat.

Single handily one of the best places I have ever eaten in the state. This place excels in one area most restaurants have a hard time keeping up with… consistency. Everything is consistent including the food and service. It is always PACKED and for good reason. Great food and lots of options without being overwhelming or trying too hard. This place, I highly highly recommend.

This is a great local place. Food is a bit a mix between homey pub. Service is friendly but I’ll mention it’s usually fairly busy in there so hopefully you get a waitress who is great at multitasking or else you’ll wait a while. My first time there was delicious. I got the baked stuffed jumbo shrimp and my boyfriend got the new pork tacos. All were good. Our second visit wasn’t as great. I got the baked scrod aspariaga which was overcooked and extremely salty. Rice pilaff was bland. Also the menu did not mention that there was cheese on top. We also got the baked potato skins which were good and chicken marsala which was ok. Overall Richard’s Pub is good but it’s hit or miss with some things.

I’ve been in Richards Pub several time over the last two years. And only as a last resort. Hey, the food is good. Descent atmosphere… but the bar tenders are the Worst!!! They are cold, unfriendly, spend TOO much time doing bar-back work and extremely inattentive to the customers at the bar. And they make sure you FEEL they are an annoyance and you are not only a pain in their ass(pulling them away from their ALL important bar back work. Where is a Smile. Happy to greet you. To have you favor THEIR restaurant. Their bar. I literally only know two bar that I hate going to. Richards and Tratoria in South County Commons. WHEREARETHEOWNERS, or Managers??? How can the bar tenders FOUL attitude go unnoticed. Shit, a blind man could sense all I said by simply sitting at the bar for 30 mins… If anyone from Richards wants to see Superior service, they should go to The chop House. Every night you see the owner walking around looking at EVERYTHING! The bartenders is the only reason i «hate» RP. Where else do I get treated with disrespect and tolerated like I’m an annoyance. Which clearly I am… the bartenders tell me 5 – 10 times in the 30 mins I spend at the bar eating. I don’t drink.

Not really sure why there is all this hate about this pub. I’ve been here 4 times and enjoyed it the same each time. Maybe it’s because the intended audience is 40+? Their drinks are fantastic. As girly as it sounds, I thoroughly enjoy the«luxury cosmopolitan». Very smooth and it kicks your butt after you finish the sidecar. I’ve tried a few specials and each were very good. I had a prime rib which was cooked very well and huge. I do wish it had a slight bit more flavor, but there are salt and pepper shakers at the table. This is a very old school type restaurant and doesn’t try to be anything else but. So, if you like traditional American fare, and well made cocktails, I’d recommend this restaurant.

We have a tendency to eat dinner late, which is kind of the norm in NYC. However, it always to comes back to bite us in the butt whenever we travel. «What?! Places close at 9 pm?! Serving dinner??» Inevitably, whatever plans we had to sample local fare and dine at the area’s finest turns into«What the heck is still open around here?»(hint: diners and pizza joints) Thankfully, Richard’s Pub was our savior that night. A real restaurant and pub, serving real food! It wasn’t busy, but there was a sizable crowd at the bar. The server took a while to get to us, but she was all smiles and very friendly. I ordered a lemon drop martini(I know, in a pub). The server brings me my drink in a sugar crusted martini glass… then she sets down another glass filled with ice and more martini… and then ANOTHER little quartino of MORE martini… holy crap, did I just get three drinks? Awesome! We ordered the stuffed quahog(mainly because of its name), baked clams casino, and baked stuffed filet of flounder. Apparently tonight’s theme was baked and stuffed. The server was really nice and when she found out we were sharing everything, she brought us each a salad instead of the one that came with the entrée! The stuffed quahog, or stuffie, is a large clam about the size of a fist, that is chopped and mixed in a bread stuffing and baked in its shell. You’re given hot sauce to eat with it. Yum! Clams casino was baked clams(not chopped) topped with breadcrumbs and bacon. Bacon soaked breadcrumbs is a totally addicting combination. Our baked flounder was stuffed with crabmeat and vegetables and turned out to be very rich but very tasty. We were feeling a little breadcrumbed out by then, but we enjoyed our meal. Cool, laid back local spot. And major points for being open so late!
