I have been here a few times. I have had the Hibachi. I have sat at the bar, ordered takeout, and I have sat in the dining room. Everything great… no complaints really. Went with a friend one time after work and they wanted us to pay $ 10 to walk in the door just to have a drink at the bar. We had no interest in the very loud band playing. She did not want to proceed so we went somewhere else. I went on a weekend again(when a band was playing) and there was a cover charge. This time I told the girl I was just getting take out and having a drink at the bar and she let me go in. To make her feel comfortable that I wasn’t stiffing her — I ordered from the hostess who was super super friendly. It took too long for the bartender to notice I was sitting & waiting for a drink so by the time I got it-my food came. I do have to say though she was very nice and the drink was very strong and she did cash me out right away. When I got home to eat the food it was awesome!

Good food. Service was great. For some reason we found ourselves stuck in one of the most miserable 2-tops ever devised by a restaurant. It actually felt like we were eating dinner in a train station. East Greenwich has not been a great experience as far as seating/dining serendipity, and KON somehow had this painful 2-top waiting for us. Stopped in around 7 on a Saturday, told a 15 minute wait, so we went to the bar for a quick drink. Got buzzed by the hostess 4 minutes later as the bartender was serving our drinks. We were then led to our seats; a two top literally in the middle of the floor that had on one side a bench seat for 4, and the on the other side a single chair for the 2 foot table. A 5 foot partition right next to the table kept us from the rest of the dining room and diners while we sat around the train station at our lonely, weird, little table. We had food from just about every page on the menu and it was all good. Drinks were good. Our server, Sara, was attentive and helpful. At the end we just couldn’t stand being run over by everyone waiting for the band to start and the rest of the diners coming and going from the dining room. The food was good enough that we really want to go back and give it another go. The Orange Ginger Duck was outstanding. Gyoza as well. There was just no way to properly relax where they built this table. Maybe next time.

This place is great. I love the sushi here. And the hibachi is good. They have a good selection and atmosphere is on point. Definitely going back

I’ve been here a few times and absolutely love it. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The hostesses were so sweet, even though our reservation was pushed back and we had to wait, she kept apologizing to us and was very friendly. We were only a party of 2 and had our own hibachi chef, he was very personable and funny. He was super entertaining and the food was out of this world delicious. Hibachi never disappoints. Our server was also very very genuine and nice, his name was Sam and he was a pleasure to have serve us. The ambiance and décor is pretty nice, you’d never expect it to be that nice just by looking at it from the outside of the building. The inside is decorated beautifully, but it is a little dark inside. We came on a Saturday night and there was a live band playing which was interesting, I probably could have done without that but you could barely hear it from the hibachi room. We will definitely be back, not only is it such a fun experience but the food is delicious.

It’s about as authentically Asian as I am, but very delicious. I max out on their kung pow which is pretty much sweet and sour chicken, their sate are good, as are some other things. This review was saved in my drafts for ages so can’t remember the score but I know I do like Kon. Plus the bar is good for when you’re waiting for your food.

I’ve been eating here for years, but that may change. Last weekend my girlfriend and I walked in for dinner(not just drinks at the bar) and were asked to pay a cover charge each. I explained that we wanted a table for dinner, so obviously there wouldn’t be cover charge… I was wrong, and the hostess said it didn’t matter, we would have to pay the cover charge because there was a band playing that night. Out of principle, we walked out and brought our business elsewhere. This is not Las Vegas, this is a strip mall in east Greenwich with decent food. When about to spend easily $ 100+ for dinner and drinks, it’s completely ridiculous to be asked to pay a cover charge to eat dinner. I’m all set with this place. The one star represents the experience. The food would get 3 stars.

Kon hibachi is my FAVORITE hibachi! The rice is the best and the chefs are so entertaining! I love how they fill a super soaker with saki! Makes the dinner interesting. They have great sushi but it can be expensive. The price is the only down side !

One of my good friends goes here almost every day… no kidding. So I figured it must be great… and it is. I have been here a few times, not as many as my friend, and have enjoyed it each time. The food is… awesome. Yes they put on a great show in the Hibachi area but even in the regular restaurant, the food is perfect. I never had anything bad or even so-so. They have tons of options and will even tweak things for you! Sushi is tops, hibachi. delicious, and that is only what I have tried. I will assume everything is super until proven wrong! I wish I could go as much as my friend, but the prices, although are reasonable, are a little too much for me to afford often… You should check it out… great location in East Greenwich, plenty of parking, great staff, and they even have live music on certain nights.

There tonight for the first time. Highly recommended. What a great looking place. Has three dining areas. A Sushi bar, and a large Hibachi Grill area and regular dining on tables or in booths. The manager LaLu was the best. When I mentioned to LaLu that the place was too cool, he instantly lowered it. Everyone here was very attentive and knowledgeable about the various dishes. Had the appetizer, lettuce wraps with marinated chicken. VG! And another appetizer was the«Indian Pancake»(aka Scallion Pancake) with a side cup of potato curry dipping sauce. VG!(also used the sauce on the lettuce wraps) My wife liked the Pineapple Chicken with cashews and pineapple and it had a great flavor. Plain for me but VG! I had the General Tso’s Chicken. The BEST I ever had. ALL white meat chicken, no fillers, cooked perfectly and the sauce was perfect! I notice all the sauces here are very flavorful. Can’t wait to get back here. 39 miles from the house, but worth the trip! A place I also enjoy like this is Johnny’s Peking Tokyo in Mystic, CT. But I also look forward to trying many more dishes you don’t see on other menus. You won’t be disappointed. They’re also on FB. Pix soon.

Visited Kon recently for lunch with some co-workers. They have some really good lunch deals. For about $ 10(unless you upgrade items) you get an entrée, rice, dumplings, sushi, salad, and soup. I selected the General Tso’s chicken option. We started with soup and salad. The soup was fantastic and actually reminded me a bit of onion soup. It was not miso soup, as I believe it was advertised. The salad was fine, you typical Japanese restaurant salad with ginger dressing, but I found it to be pretty watery, like they didn’t drain the lettuce, or somehow the dressing separated into thick dressing on the lettuce and water beneath. My chicken was quite tasty, definitely hit the spot. I upgraded my rice from white steamed rice to fried rice. It was a basic fried rice with nothing in it(no veggies or meat) and for a small scoop I paid an extra $ 2 I believe(kind of a rip off considering the entire meal was already only $ 10). It tasted fine though. I also upgraded my sushi from California roll(using imitation crab) to spicy tuna. It wasn’t spicy at all, and could have use a bit of spicy mayo on top. It tasted fine overall, but nothing too special. I’ve had better. The dumplings were atrocious. I guess they are supposed to be shrimp siu mai, but they have absolutely no flavor or texture. They are just mushy. Siu mai filling should have some texture, especially since the dough is thin and it’s steamed, it needs to have some textural contrast, but this was pretty awful. My friend told me she skips them but I felt like I should try it. It was just mush with no flavor :( Overall, I think these are good lunch deals, but after upgrading portions of the meal, it starts to become less of a deal. Also, definitely skip those dumplings! Yuck! They also have a hibachi type of lunch special meal, so I may opt for that next time and see if I have better results. The key components of the meal were good, but there were just a few mediocre parts or total misses like the dumplings.

Had dinner at the bar. Worst service ever! Not attentive from start of night. Bar staff spent more time with regulars doing shots one the sligh. Empty drinks no food. Bartender not caring spending time with regular. Food was good. Drinks good. Service horrible. Had to actually put my coat on to get the bartender to notice we wanted the check. Then had to check if accurate check and it was wrong three times. Bartender acted as if we were the problem. Attitude by bartender after checking out saying it was a mistake. Really three mistakes on our check our fault. Manager made aware very apologetic but can’t make up for the poor service or wrong bill or attitude by bar staff. Perhaps he needs to check his cameras for proof of staff filtering drinks without their knowledge.

The only reason I am giving it one star is because of the horrible service I had tonight at the bar. The food is always good, the service when I sit at a table is great too, but their bartenders are the worst. Always too busy doing absolutely NOTHING, and tonight I pretty much had it. Charged me and my friend for two extra drinks we didn’t have, probably to hide the fact they were doing shots on the other side of the bar. We wait every time to get our drinks and an hour for our check. The bartender was condescending because she knew we were upset and realized she wasn’t going to get a tip. If I go back I hope they have new bartenders because otherwise I’ll just leave. Even though the manager is great, he isn’t the one who is severing me.

We frequent KON and will continue to do so. We’ve never once had a bad experience the manager/owner is from Bali and is ALWAYS pleasant, social and professional. All the wait staff are very attentive. The food is absolutely delicious! For appetizers we usually get edamame which is always hot and fresh with the perfect amount of sea salt. Another appetizer is the Crab Rangoon, I recommend getting an extra dish of the dipping sauce because it’s delicious! For the main course my fiancé always gets steak and chicken hibachi always tasty. I love their specialty rolls my favorite is the«Tiger» with a side of spicy mayo. I also have a child and you never feel unwanted when the children are making noise. All parents will know what I mean by this! Most restaurants make you feel like a nuisance. A+++. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is dim but I do love the variety of food and décor in this restaurant. I have gotten sushi to go from this place and their sushi is delicious! I recently came here for hibachi which was good! The service was very good and my mother who has poor eyesight needed brighter lights. The manager made the lights as bright as he could for us which was appreciated. Food and atmosphere are great here!

We frequent Kon for both their sushi and their hibachi. Probably the best place for both these things in the area. Despite being situated in the back of a strip mall, the location is very convenient and the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. I’ve never had poor service or a bad meal at this restaurant. We’ve done Hibachi multiple times here with groups of people and the chefs are always interactive and fun, which is all part of the experience and what you expect. They offer happy hour appetizer specials at the bar during the week and usually have live music on the weekends, too.

Meh, I’ve taken my kids here a few times when we were hungry and pressed for time. The sushi is ok, but I’ve had much better other places. My kids like the hibachi and it’s ok. They have put on a ok show. I’ve ordered take out for my son and gotten three rolls for him. They feel justified charging me a dollar more for a sweet potato, and it does not seem right. we will not be running back, there are much better places to go to.

My cousin took me here for lunch recently and I was in full SUSHI Mode! Lunches at Kon are very reasonable(I think their dinners are fairly pricey, but they seem to make their lunch prices a bit more affordable, so as to be sure they get more business during a time which might be a typically slower time of day). I had a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio to start. I also started the meal with Kon’s Asian Lettuce Wraps(with chicken filling) and if you haven’t tried this DElicious appetizer I suggest you give it a try as it is FABulous. I also ordered a luncheon special which was sushi, sashimi and choice of soup or salad. I ordered both soup AND salad because I was starving and the occasion was my birthday! We left pretty happy and stuffed and everything was fresh and excellent. The service was great as well, and the lovely interior of Kon is a pleasant surprise(if you’ve not been there before) because it’s just a plain old brick storefront in a CVS shopping center on the outside. I am raising my Unilocal rating for Kon Asian Bistro To 5 stars!

Bottom line is we did not even have a waiter the whole night. We got our drinks(one each… I wanted another) and no water. Just apps and one drink. We had to call the manager over. He was very nice about it and gave us $ 25 gift card but we’ll see net time. Maybe just the bar next time …

I hate to give a not-so-glowing review, but my recent experience at Kon left me wondering how I could have such good memories of a fabulous night at the same place years ago. I think the answer lies within the positive point that their hibachi staff are super entertaining and fun. They have high energy and that makes for a fun vibe. However, my recent lunch experience at Kon(not for hibachi as that’s only offered at night), was very lacking. A couple highlights of the experience were that the waitress was very sweet and attentive. And the lunch menu looked awesome with a wealth of options. Also, the salad with peanut dressing was tasty! But, let me be specific about what was lacking. The California rolls were very chewy and flavorless. The soup was over spiced and had a too strong egg/oil flavor/texture. The pad thai was very oily, to the point where the person I was with felt ill after eating it(the nauseous, icky feeling you get after eating something much too oily). The crab dumpling was not flavorful or held together well. Overall, I was really quite surprised by the lacking quality in food. I expected more out of Kon, and I am hopeful it was just an off day for them. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying them again in the future, but I won’t be running back there. I guess the overall conclusion is that fond memories from a fun hibachi night years ago do not carry over to present day. It was OK.
