Just came in again to sample the Brisket Plate… totally deer licious!!! Potatoe Salad is fantastic… green beans rock! Finished with Pecan Pie… yummy! I love DICKIES

Not impressed. Service was great, food was very sub par. I would liken Dickeys BBQ to fast food bbq. You don’t expect or get a quality cheeseburger from fast food, but it has its place in the American diet, and once in awhile you crave a fast food burger. This place in my opinion is good for Fast Food BBQ, but definitely not a good or even close to authentic BBQ joint. Know this — Any smoke flavor you are getting is artificial from smoke powder and liquid smoke. Their BBQ sauce is loaded with liquid smoke. There was no smoke ring on my brisket. The brisket and the pulled pork were moist but had essentially the same flavor. I ordered without sauce and my son ordered with sauce. if you did a blindfold test you CANNOT taste the difference in the pulled pork or brisket whether you eat it dry or sauced. That is a problem/Brisket Rub and Pork rub should not be the same. The ribs are fall off the bone. If you think fall off the bone ribs are REAL or Good BBQ then maybe you will like this better than I did. When I hear Texas BBQ in the description of a restaurant I wasn’t thinking TGI Fridays ribs, and thats what their ribs are like. Mac and Cheese — Think Boston Market Mac and Cheese — looked and tasted exactly like that. Again — if that’s what you like than you’re going to love Dickeys BBQ I hate giving a bad review to a place but it was just such a let down from my expectations. To sum it up — lower your expectations to fast food BBQ and you will either choose to skip it or you will enjoy the fast food BBQ that Dickey’s really is.

I used to work for a company with offices in Dallas. On a visit, I was taken to one of these chain BBQ restaurants for a quick lunch. I didn’t expect much but as a guest, I went quietly. To my surprise, it was wonderful and inexpensive. That’s the way BBQ should be. This NJ outpost is over an hour from home, but a heck of a lot closer than Texas. I opted for the daily special and added a side of slaw. The sandwich special was chopped brisket with beans and fries. It was a generous, juicy and flavorful entrée that made me smile. The beans and fries were exceptional — full of flavor, well spiced and hot. The slaw blew me away. Reason enough for me, a cole slaw fan, to make a special return visit. On the way out the door, our hostess reminded us that they have free ice cream! Whaaaa? Yes, soft serve machine at the ready with wafer cones. No limit too! Good BBQ. Great sides. Free ice cream. Who needs more? You like BBQ? Meet me there! Recommended.

Tried it for the first time tonight. It was great. Had the polish sausage and it was prepared perfect. Ordered two sides as part of the«One Meat Platter» the coleslaw was crisp and very tasty. The potato casserole was fantastic. The price was very good. My brother had the BBQ Chicken, coleslaw and Mac and cheese. That was all very good. This is the very best tasting bbq place in central NJ. If your in the area it’s definitely worth the visit. I will be stopping back here to cure my BBQ cravings.

What can I say! This place ROCKS… The pulled pork the sides all the way down to the FREE ice cream! Cmon! I can’t say 1 bad thing about this place! They even have a kids menu, and I have the pickiest eater of a son! I promise this place will not disappoint!

Well we tried it tonight and liked it. I had the ribs and brisket with beans and fries. The bread is great. All the food was good. My daughter had the ribs and enjoyed them as well. No complaints from this family. We will return for a future meal. The service was good. We were greeted when we walked in the door. There is free soft serve ice cream for diners. Our food was given to us quickly. There are additional sauces available for those who want more of the original or sweet sauce. Give it a try!!!

We ordered the family pack and the sides were small. The meat portions were plentiful but just ok. The same sauce on all three meats made them virtually indistinguishable in taste. Would not go back but then again I’m not a huge BBQ fan.

Literally the worst bbq. I was raised in Florida, Virginia and have close family I visit in Georgia I know about at the very least decent bbq. I had mac and cheese, green beans, bacon, pulled pork, and chopped chicken. Service was great and the people were friendly they get a star for that. The Iced tea was horrible and bland. 15 bucks I paid for the platter 2 meats, two sides and Ice tea. I think the Mcrib could compete with this haha. The mac was like frozen mac and cheese and the green beans where obviously frozen, you could taste how bland they were as well. I hear the ribs are good. However, that was from an Italian from jersey. I have to say I won’t be back to Dickeys. The spicy bbq was ok, the original was crap and so was the other I can’t recall what it was called. They do have free frozen yogart. These people are obviously bad at bbq and its a chain. The staff again is good and very respectful. Theyjust should not do bbq is all.

2 Stars: Meh. I’ve experienced better. That fits Dickey’s to a tee. Sad really because I wanted wanted to love this place. There is no BBQ in Central Jersey so my hopes were high when when I learned about Dickey’s. The reviews for this place are all over the place so I didn’t know what to expect… I ordered the three meat platter. Two should have been sufficient but I needed to be sure ;-) First off all the complaints about the service!!! I don’t get it? Service and politeness of staff are in check. That would be 4 stars. The food was my problem. I like to order Mac & Cheese and Greens with my BBQ… Dickey’s didn’t have any greens on the menu so I ordered the next best thing Fried Okra(okay maybe the creamed spinach is the next best thing but there are things I associate with certain cuisine and BBQ, Mac & Cheese and Greens are the only way to do BBQ in my stupid NJ head). The okra was fried… it tasted like fried and salt… definitely a salt taste to the okra. it was sprinkled on afterwards… perhaps a little heavy handed. The Mac & Cheese ugh… hate to say it but the closest thing I can equate it to is KFC. A notch better perhaps but not the homemade 1941 recipe they claim on all their stuff. It’s overly processed crap, I didn’t even finish it. The three meats I ordered were the smoked turkey, brisket, and pulled pork. Other than color(pork had a pink beef was grey) the brisket and pulled pork were indistinguishable. Both were chewy dry pieces of meat but had a smokey flavor to them. The turkey was«juicy» but lacked the smokiness the other meats had. The turkey was also of seemingly poor quality. We all know what good turkey is(think Thanksgiving) the turkey here has a wet flavor and had a almost processed lunch meat consistency(if that makes sense). The roll they give you is also gross, hard to rip apart and probably not worth the carbs it is. What I Did Like: This will sound crazy and I hate to admit this… I love the McDonald’s McRib. I loath anything Mickey D’s but I do love the McRib. When you have Dickey’s pulled pork with their sauce and pickles and onion it reminds me of a McRib which is weird I know but it is a guilty pleasure of mine. So despite the 2 Star review if I’m desperate for a McRib I might stop at Dickey’s…

Do legit BBQ places put liquid smoke on their meats? I think not! Invest in a smoker and get better reviews.

I can’t complain and I’m no bbq expert. I’ve been going to divine star nails all the time decided I’d give it a try. I thought it’d be fresh bbq but it’s more like a Boston market for bbq. The girls behind the counter were very pleasant and polite. I got takeout but there’s additional sauces available and a soft serve ice cream machine. I had the 3 meat platter with Mac and green beans mac was ok on it’s own but good with some meat on the fork with it. I’m not a fan of soggy green beans. Brisket and ham were good, chicken was tender but had the least flavor without the sauce. Rolls were good. I’d go back.

This little spot hidden off route 18 off tices rd. Has some decent Bbq. The pulled pork is cooked just like down south. The beef brisket was nice and juicy. The loaded mash potatoes were yummy and the coleslaw is delicious. My kids have this place two thumbs up and to top it off you can help yourself to some free vanilla ice cream on a cone.

Second time coming here from when they came up north. HUGE improvement. The people were awesome. The food is nothing like any BBQ around here. The prices are cheap for the portions you get. Being someone with a huge appetite getting full from this place is pretty impressive. The best part, you can have ice cream for free. Self served, vanilla only. I will come back here again for all components of this restaurant. I only give it 4 stars, however, because it is nothing compared to the chains down south. It’s southern food up north. They’re good but nothing beats the one in the south.

It was like showing up to a BBQ late! Ordered the 2 meat meal & it was so unappealing to watch them take a slab of ham out the fridge, remove the plastic wrap & start cutting slices for my plate. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was hoping it was served fresh! The price, bread roll & ice cream was the highlight of my night. The food was nothing to brag about and I definitely won’t be back!

I am no barbecue expert here but I like this place. I found the ribs very good. The brisket and pulled pork tasted good but are a tad dry I like all the sides I tried so far — Mac and Cheese, tangled onion, waffle fries, fried okra, etc. I also enjoy the Southern sweet tea. This place definitely give you good value for your money. They have daily special which for $ 10 or so give you a good meat plate with a drink. Sunday is «kids eat free». I got two kids so it is definitely a good deal for my family.

Visited their newest location in East Brunswick, NJ this afternoon and this was my experience. This is also the opinion of all who have been to this new location since it’s opening from my place of business. 1. Food was very good. Not Tennessee, certainly not North Carolina, but for Jersey, very good. 2. Value was good. I’m 200lbs and got very full on the 2 meat plate. 3. Service was fast. Almost instant at 12:30pm. 4. Attitudes/mood of employees(all) was poor. This is why the 3 stars and not 5! Not sure why but even weeks apart, all the front end employees seem generally not happy, a bit rude and overall it makes for a bad experience even though the food was good. They may have brought Southern BBQ to the Garden State, but certainly not Southern Charm. Would not return unless something changed.

Time for a Unilocal Elite to step in and counter the sock puppets. I stopped in today and put my fate in the hands of the staff who selected pork ribs, brisket, and turkey for my 3-meat platter. I added barbecue baked beans and waffle fries and was on my way. The pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the brisket was moist and had just the right hint of smoke. The turkey breast, something I never get at a barbecue joint because it is rarely good, was moist and had the ideal amount of smoke flavor. The décor is standard barbecue joint but is a good contrast to the other eateries in the area. Something about rustic and down home in the middle of the most sterilized area of the town just makes perfect sense. The team working the counter is polite, helpful, and got me my food quickly. When my waffle fries needed a bit more time, Justice brought it to my table. So, yes, service was good. Is this as good as the places I tried in Dallas, Raleigh or Nashville? No, but it is a whole lot better than most of the other places around Central NJ and is worthy of a return. Maybe we can get a few more Elites to chime in?

Not bad, I tried quarter platter and rib platter. With the quarter platter I got pulled pork with fried okra and onion tangler. The food is decent, but I think they should just have customers order at the register and have cashier give the order to rest of the kitchen instead of have clients repeat the order multiple to times. But all worker has great attitude! I would revisit

I was actually at wal mart right before I ate here to see if they sold wood chunks for my offset smoker. I smelt the bbq burning driving down tices lane and had to pull in. I had high expectations for this place. But its just another failed attempt at bbq in NJ. Its kind of like when we go out of state for bagels and pizza and wonder why it sucks so bad. This place is no different to anybody who has the privilege of indulging in real bbq. Had 3 meats with jalo beans and fried onion. The beans were flat out disgusting, couldn’t take a second bite. Extremely bitter and raw, as if a pound of paprika was dumped into the batch, same flavor for the sausage which was hands down an absolute disappoint. I had brats in my hand at the wal mart, unfortunately i put them back on the shelf before i walked out. A good sausage is savory holds moisture and snaps. This was dry bitter and sliced The sliced part really bothers me. Why would anybody deliberately destroy a sausage and serve it to customers and charge them money for it. It takes so many hours of watching a fire to get it perfect. That goes for the brisket as well, the menu definitely did not say pulled brisket, which is an easy way to hide a poorly cooked brisket. And the flavor of the meat was flat out awful. Chicken was also diced and dry and flavorless. The savings grace of this place was the BBQ sauce. The vinegar was bold enough to cover up the bland meats. I honestly highly doubt this place cooks on a real wood pit. Not a lot of smoke taste, except the bbq sauce, but they used liquid smoke in order to fake it. A place that uses a real pit wouldn’t be so pretentious with their bbq. You would see the pit and smell the aroma permeate the building. Id hate to ruin a restaurants reputation via Unilocal, but this isn’t mom and dad putting in endless hours of work into a good product. This is a chain that needs to be put in its place. Its a bad business venture in an era were a young generation is driving out larger food chains in demand for local high quality food and drink with integrity. Therefore I have no shame giving this place 1 star. Absolute fraud.

I was very happy with the brisket. Very juicy, did not need any sauce. Their sauce had too much liquid smoke, but I did like the zesty tang. The beans are very good. I would go back again
