Leave it to the suburbs to take a late night-post drinking establishment and turn into a lunch spot with a drive-thru. I’m giving this location a 3 star rating, not based upon the food because it’s Jim’s, what can you expect. The 3 star rating is for the service. My favorites right now are the(single) chicken finger wrap, Buffalo style and the philly wrap. These items are affordable and just the right size if you have the taste for a few different things. My other go to is and was always the poutine fries however with the shop opening on Allen I haven’t gotten them here since. Usually when things are brought out to the suburbs you come to find out that service levels go up, the staff are friendly, the shop is more efficient and things just seem to go smoothly… sadly this is not case here. I come here because I work out in Getzville, so being in the Sahara of food deserts for many years I’ve come to find places with fast food or near another place that I visit or do business. Is my bank nearby? What about a store? A Starbucks? I need a quick hit, something that will allow me make a lunch run and come back in time as long as there are no traffic concerns. This is NOT the case for this location and actually think I’ve received better service downtown wither I’ve been drunk or sober! The drive-thru is anything but fast and the person, often an older woman is never ready to take your order when you pull up, once she takes it she’s a tad short with you and even when there are a few cars or one car in front of you there is a wait. I understand this is not truly fast food but if you’re going to operate a window maybe have some more pre-prepped food available? You want to keep your traffic moving swiftly and you want your customers coming back. More often than not I’ve seen a car or two from behind me pull away, sometimes not placing an order or sometimes they have. So my suggestion, if you are coming here on your lunch break, you may want to make sure you have a few extra 10 mins or so to spare.

Yes they’re open til like 4am or 5am or something ridiculous, but don’t come in at that time, otherwise you’ll see«Jim’s Snake Out.» He exposes himself at the same time of night, every night. It’s like an added bonus for the last of the customers(literally, for them) if you’re into that sort of thing. Personally I’m not. I like my guys a little younger, a little more exotic, and a little less well endowed. This Jim’s Steak Out is like all the other ones. The best one is on Sheridan(near Sweet Home) and earns a 5-star rating for better-tasting food than all the others and better service. The worst one is on Sheridan near Colvin, for having the angriest owner and worst service and iffy food. The mediocre ones are downtown, on Allen and Chippewa. They’re not bad, but they’re too busy, too mesy, and service is iffy. This location is more like the best ones. It has pretty good service, it’s nice and quiet, it’s clean, it has cute décor which I took lots of pix of. I usually get the Jim’s Deluxe which has everything on it. It’s a cheesesteak with onions, mushrooms, you name it. It’s heavy and delicious and huge. You can now get a half version or a bread roll version which is much smaller and a bit cheaper. Then they have tacos, which are like Taco Bell or Mighty Taco, but way tastier. You can compare them to Elmwood Taco on, er, Elmwood. They’re tasty and well worth getting, and very wallet friendly too. $ 2 for beef, $ 3 for steak or chicken. None of them are amazing, but all of them will do the trick, but always ask for extra medium taco sauce on them. It’s hard to give Jim’s a 5 because even though some of the sandwiches are 5 star and the hours are 5 star, you can tell they use store-bought tortillas and ingredients straight from bags and the freezer. That’s okay, for these prices you can’t complain. But I’m going to keep the 5-star rating for the one location that tastes better than all others and where service goes above and beyond, and I’m gonna give this one a 4. But at 4am, in East Amherst, you really have no other option that is as decent as this. Speaking of decent. If you happen to see Jim’s Snake Out, please snap a picture. It would be damn decent of you to record such an indecent escapade. And if you end up in legal troubles I’m sure you can«worm» your way out of it. You might even like the way it looks. It might make you slippery, like a snake. I mean, it might. Who knows. You never know until you try it. And on that note, I have to go jump out of a plane without a parachute. Will I survive? Who knows. I’ll never know until I try it.

Awful drive thru service. The fat retarded kid working the counter couldn’t take my order right. He was«too busy» sorry I am a paying customer. I will not be returning until he is fired.

Chicken finger subs, chicken fingers, and their fries are awesome. Great late night/drunk food, but still delicious while sober. Never had anything that wasn’t good here.

Staff is friendly. Dining area is very clean. Sub rolls are delicious. Meat is low to mid-range quality but on par with the prices they charge.

If you live in Buffalo and have never been to a Jim’s Steakout location, you truly aren’t living here. I’ve been enjoying their food since the Elmwood location by Buff State was it. The Transit location is more centrally located for me and I’m happy for its existence. The management and staff at this location are great. They are helpful, quick, clean, and attentive. Really, what more could you ask for? Maybe a drive through when you need a 2am sub fix — well they have that too. This location has enough seating for about 35 people. Seating is mostly hardback booths and tables with chairs. The pop machine, napkins, and utensils are in the same room, you’ll never feel like you are cutting the line to ask for something extra. Bathrooms are located down a hallway, just off the dining area, and are always clean. The dining area has TVs and a few places to dispose of your trash. It also has a second door that feeds the exit, so you won’t need to disturb the patrons in line on your way out. They are great for familys, small groups, and kids. The menu offers a lot of options. This is more a review about this location, check online for their full menu. I will recommend the steak sub and chicken finger sub(hot with blue cheese). Prices are great, around $ 10 for a full sub. They also have combo meals(drink, fries, half sub). I’ve never had a bad experience here, and I’ve been going for years.

Good stuff! The cheese steak was better than the one I had in Philly, and filling! The meat actually overflowed they hoagie roll. The fries were awesome, crunchy. And thicker than typical fast food-ish fries. The boneless buffalo wing bites were a bit disappointing. Seemed saltier than I think they should have been. Stick with a sandwich, and you can’t go wrong.

This is a great Jims location. I got the chicken finger sub, with blue cheese, medium fingers. Great consistency and overall taste. Nice and clean inside, highly recommended.

The worlds curve for a hangover! And after an impressive buffalo bills ot victory I have one! And the only way to celebrate/feel less like death, is with a stinger sub from Jim’s steak-out. Frankly if you have never had a stinger sub. Get out it will change your out look on life. What’s better than steak and chicken fingers. Nothing is better. It’s a fact look it up. 9.90 for a heavenly sub pack with so much meat you’ll have it breakfast lunch and dinner.

Good drunk food. I can’t comment o what it tastes like when before any drinks but I probably wouldn’t try it. The steak sandwiches are good, no chewiness. I had the Jimmy with a stuffed banana pepper and I had to take it off of my sandwich. It tasted watery. The funnel cake was good.

Big, tasty, greasy cheese steaks. I forget the name but I usually order the one with mushrooms, onions and the special sauce. Good stuff. The poutine fries are really good too. I feel bad doing this but I’m docking them one star for mediocre customer service. The past few times I’ve been there the girl at the front counter gave me some attitude for no reason. As if placing my order was an inconvenience or something. Also, pro tip: smiles are free.

I have since moved away from the Buffalo area but whenever I visit Jim’s Steak Out is one of the places I need to visit. My favorite menu item by far is the Chicken Finger Sub. I need to get it every single time or else my visit is just not complete. It is just so tasty and is satisfying every single time! I wish they had these out in Vegas where I live now!

Known for their«I see drunk people» quotes on their Jim’s shirts, those four words describe the biggest part of their business, having lines of drunk, hungry people going out the door at the end of the night around 4am when people are forced to leave the bar and feed their drunken need for some great drunk food before getting home and praying to the porcelain gods that their great food stays down for them to enjoy. Now that I got that graphic tale of how Jim’s Steakout became the hot spot for the late night munch fest let’s get on with the review! Assuming your reading reviews here to see if this place is right for you, I’ll give you an honest answer, yes it is. Jim’s has a variety of food that you can choose from. My favorite sub they have is the Diavlo which has steak chopped on the grill topped with fried hot peppers, melted cheese and Jim’s Secret Sauce — all on a toasted Italian roll. All hoagies come in an 8 inch or 12 inch option. In the mood for a taco or possibly a wrap? wings? other hot or cold hoagies? How about a burger grilled to perfection? that’s just a short list of options you can get here. If you’re on a diet or just like to eat healthy there are different varieties of salads, from healthy to unhealthy salads, or even order one of each ;). There are a few different side orders you can add onto your order as well such as onion rings, chips and three different styles of fries: regular fries, taco fries, and if you’re Canadian you’ll love this more than anyone, the poutine fries. There are combo options you can choose from too which will give a slight discount if you order your food in that fashion. I’ve been to this location once and had a pleasant time. I didn’t live in the East Amherst area and never was really out there much. This place seems just as busy as the ones in Buffalo itself which was surprising to me when I walked in and was waiting 5 minutes in line. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining on the wait time I know it happens I was just shocked. Think this can be your favorite place where you might start dropping some serious cash here to feed that Jim’s craving? Ask them a Jim’s card. The card is free and you can gain points with every purchase you make. You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you tally your points and get a meal on Jim’s for being a great customer. I lost my card but they were able to get me another one and transfer my points, so you know they want you to get the points and get a free meal on them because that’s just how they are, great people who put up with a lot of drunk people to make sure your fed before passing out. This is one of the best ideas for a company I’ve seen in a long time, and can see this place blow up and expand throughout the U. S as one of the next big things. Try it out now so you can tell everyone that you had Jim’s before Jim’s was big when it gets there.

OK, I totally expected to hate this place simply because I have seen them everywhere and the look to be a dirty run down chain. They may be, but the food was great. I finally got a good chicken finger sub and the steak sub was awesome! They even had a decent priced, decent sized kids meal — okay it was a snack pack, but it worked great for a kids meal. The only thing I didn’t like was the price, but then again for the amount of food we got it was reasonable. I just think someone in my party(I won’t mention HIS name) should stop ordering so much food and then complain about being fat. All in all it was a positive experience.

Absolutely HORRIBLE. This makes the fourth time we’ve got home to find our order was screwed up! Seriously, how hard is it to make two finger subs without vegetables? A three year old can manage this!!! I don’t know if its just this location, but the people here are a hair shy from having downs syndrome. No joke. We’ve made four complaints to managers and corporate = No resolutions, no refunds, nothing! I’ll never patronize this sh*thole again! Stay FAR away if you value your hard earned cash. The food is barely passable while drunk, it’s really gone downhill in years past. And now you’re lucky to even get something that resembles what you’ve paid for! We’re now over $ 100 in the hole, four times in a row we’ve gotten home and literally had to throw out the food we were given… thanks for nothing Jim’s! EDIT: A store manager contacted me personally to issue a refund in the form of a gift card. I gave it away, no point giving me money I can only spend in an establishment I no longer wish to frequent. Shortly thereafter an email of mine was responded to by the district manager. He issued a check for all four orders. I appreciate the fact they finally made the situation right, and for that they have a bit of my respect back. I still won’t be frequenting Jim’s, unless I’m extremely tanked and I can’t find a gas station that’s open.

Before I left Buffalo for Phoenix in 2000 I was a vegetarian and there were only 3 Steakouts. I didn’t have much of a desire to trek to these 3 locations either, because lets be honest, cheese subs suck. I never got hooked so when I came back to visit as a meat eater, I went to all of the places I did crave and Steakout never even crossed my mind. My first meat-eating Steakout experience was more about a matter of convenience, but the taste of that simple turkey sub was DIVINE! 8 years in the desert with only Subway and Quiznos as options, I completely forgot what a good sub tasted like. Then I moved back to Buffalo to find Steakouts everywhere. Now they’re just as convenient as their competitors! And this particular location has a drive thru too! The Jefferson is a delicious combo of steak and sausage. But my favorite is still a turkey sub with oil and mayonnaise. The hubby’s fave is the taco fries. This is absolutely not health food, but it is so damn good.
