English Pub

Have been to the English Pub a couple times and I really love the pizza! Great taste & not too thick of a crust. The services is good, very friendly. Every time I was there it was kinda empty but it was late at night, not sure if it’s this way all the time.
They have a pool table and some other games in the back. Nothing special (it’s a small town bar) but overall is a nice place to go for some drinks & bar pie!

Happened upon this pub when we were in the area visiting the baseball field. There was one other table of people there when we arrived and they were eating the pizza, which is apparently a favorite as they keep a tally of how many they have sold on a board near the pizza oven. We ordered a child dog and nachos. I would recommend skipping the nachos unless you like the bland taste of old school ballpark nachos. Child dog was decent. Staff was friendly. Tv’s were showing baseball. This is a Cubs and Hawkeye bar according to it’s décor. Restroom was clean. Seating area is fairly large.

Oh dear. I read the Unilocal reviews that averaged 4.5 stars and the TripAdvisor recommendations and thought this would be a winner. Perhaps for the locals it is — but not for this city girl. Yea the ingredients on the pizza are fresh but the crust is prepared and very much like cardboard. I’m sure my glucose went soaring. The chili was okay — good meat and served with a full stack of saltines so you know it can’t have much flavor when it’s expected to be smothered with crackers. I tried the local beer 312 which was meh so opted for an Amber Bock and was reminded why I never order it. Should have stayed with the 312 as meh is better than colored water. So all in all — skip this place if you really want pizza and beer. There have gotta be better options in Dyersville. Service was very good and environment was enjoyable if you aren’t particular about your food and drink.

The five is for the pizza and atmosphere. Plenty of good cheer to go around. The large pizza feeds two to three but is filled with flavor. Order Turkey’s special.
