The food here was really good for a fast food restaurant and I don’t typically eat fast food. I had a Caesar salad and some buffalo wings, everyone else had tenders, mini chicken sandwiches and fries. I tasted theirs and it was good too. They give you a lot of food unlike other fast food chains. It was clean including the bathrooms and the service was great with friendly staff which is what I expect from my southern friends. I would definitely come back.

I’ve never heard of Zaxby’s before coming to the south. Previously I had seen signs on the highway rest stops for it but always thought it was a sit down chain, heck I’m not sure what type of place I thought it was. My coworkers however have been raving about this place and even ranked it higher than Popeyes and Bojangles. With such high recommendations, I had to try it. I got the Plate of Toast with Chicken Tenders and Zax Sauce with crinkle fires and Cole slaw($ 6.79), 10 Wings Tongue Torch($ 9.99) and Spicy Fried Mushroom($ 3.49). After tax it came out to be $ 21.79 The chicken tenders were warm and delicious, and the toast was nice and warm and buttery. I was a little disappointed with my wings tho. When ordering I asked if I could get flats only and the cashier confirmed only to later say they couldn’t do it. I also ordered Tongue Torch and it wasn’t that hot/spicy. The fried mushrooms were blah and I would not order those again. They were too greasy and lacked flavor. Food was pretty good for a fast food drive-in but my biggest gripe was that after receiving my order, I asked for bbq sauce(for my tenders), blue cheese(for my wings) and hot sauce(for my fried mushrooms), to which the girl said costs 25cents each. I get that… I know places are starting to charge for condiments but at that point I had already paid for my order and did not have quarters on me, nor was I willing to charge 50 cents to my credit card. They really should ask during ordering«by the way, would you like any sauces at a small charge?»

Last night my husband and I stopped at Zaxbys on Hillsborough Road to get something to eat on the way home and I must say I will never ever eat there again! We have to go through the drive thru the young lady had a nasty attitude, was not helpful and had NOpersonality at all! When I got my food it was horrible!!! I ordered the combination of the boneless chicken wings and they were a hard, burnt and they just poured teriyaki sauce on top of them! My french fries were crispy so crispy that I had a hard time eating them my husband got plain chicken wing combo and you would think they had left the chicken wings in the grease overnight cooking! I would not recommend this location to anyone! If you want great food and what find yourself wanting zaxbys please go to the location on North Roxboro Road!

My meal looked like it was recycled. And they completely got the order wrong… Which raises my suspicions of the potentially recycled meal *raising eyebrow*f

I have never been to Zaxby’s when the entire process was quick, courteous, and satisfying… and it’s never cheap for ‘fast food’. At least one piece of the experience is always lacking. Against my better judgement I decided to go to the Hillsborough rd location for dinner with my roommate. I already knew it was going to be a wait.(One car ahead of us, which translates to about a 15 minute wait, or more in Zax land) I went in to this drive thru experience knowing this and not caring, but just out of curiosity I set the stopwatch on my phone just to see how long it would take. Bear in mind, I was in a great mood a this point. The girl came on the speaker and sounded less than thrilled to be taking my order. When she found out we had two separate orders, I’m almost positive her eyes rolled completely back in her head. Annoyed, she gathered herself, and took the rest of my order with an air of disdain. The degree of rudeness was creeping up past what I deem tolerable at this point and because of this, I forgot to order the milkshake I wanted. My roommate pulled up to the window and I would be lying If I said I wasn’t elated to have the opportunity to add the milkshake on at the window. True to the form she betrayed from our brief interaction via speakerphone, she was beside herself that anyone would dare ask such a thing. I kept waiting for her head to spin around 360 degrees, but it never happened despite all indications otherwise. Keep in mind they were not particularly busy. One other person in the drive thru and a handful inside. When we asked to add on the milkshake we waited until she was done taking the other customers order as to not overwhelm her. After asking she waited approximately 2 minutes before relaying the order to the person responsible for making the milkshake. She was doing basically nothing else at this point, but clearly was still not happy about our add-on when she finally verbalized it to her co-worker. At this point I could not idly stand by absorbing her cutting looks, snide comments and generally pathetic customer service skills any longer. I told her at a normal volume there was no reason for her to be rude, to which she replied, «I’m not being rude, I’m sick.» As if having the sniffles absolved her from doing her job or at the very least treating people like people and not some massive inconvenience to her own self absorbed existence. I responded by apologizing to her, an apology infused with a heaping dose of sarcasm(I’m sure most of this was completely lost on her, but I digress.) Naturally she was talking back to me the entire time. I wanted to abandon the sarcasm and tell her explicitly, directly and at length how useless she was and that she should be ashamed of herself, but I stopped short because I didn’t want to reduce her to tears and that absolutely would have happened. Some of you reading this probably are thinking, what an asshole, that poor girl works hard for a low wage and probably hasn’t had it easy et cetera, et cetera. Those people would be right, I don’t know her situation, maybe it is awful… but that does not even come close to mattering. If you can’t pull yourself together enough to provide polite service in a customer facing role then you should not be in a customer facing role. I know the options are limited for the uneducated folks that typically fill these roles and while I don’t advocate higher education for everyone. maybe some sort of finishing school would be a good option for some. I’m not being harsh, just advocating a little common courtesy and sense in a world beset by jack-assery. Oh I got so caught up in the awful overtly shitty service I forgot to mention that they didn’t even give me what In ordered. I would also like to echo the sentiment of reviewer Donald H… if not for texture it would be next to impossible to differentiate between most of their food. If you absolutely must go to Zaxbys follow this guide to make it as painless as possible 1. Order online 2. Go inside 3. Get the white cheddar bites from the zappetizers menu(It is legitimately the only thing that keeps me going back there once in a while.) 4. Steer clear of Danielle. She is a scrub.

If you are in the mood for the worst food that you have ever eaten give this place a try. I stopped in and had a wings and things platter. Wings nuggets and texas toast with fries. Everything on the plate tasted exactly the same. If it weren’t for the difference in texture you wouldn’t know what you were eating if you were blindfolded. Alos the service at the Hillsborough Rd location. In particular Danielle. She came off as quite rude and made it seem like an inconvenience to do her job. I will not be back.

Great food and staff. Just a little on the expensive side for chicken. But a good alternative to others in the area. Great kids menu. Which I think for the value is the high light of the menu. Only downside is the location. Now you have to deal with the traffic over flow from the new popular neighbor.

«Food is essential to life… therefore, make it good.» –S. Truett Cathy Good customer service, at its core, entails treating every guest with the same friendliness and courtesy shown to a close friend. Ever since my first visit to the Zaxby’s restaurant on Hillsborough Road shortly after their construction, the employees there have provided me and my wife with MORE than this… they have always treated us like family. Warm smiles and engaging conversation are a staple of this location. The food(and the sweet tea that I’m particularly fond of) is always fresh and delicious. Our wait time is always minimal. Our order is always perfectly accurate. I love Zaxby’s as a whole(it’s been my favorite restaurant since 2003), but I would literally drive past a dozen of their other locations just for the atmosphere at this particular branch. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for great chicken, great customer service, and great friends. I hope to enjoy many more meals, for many more years to come, at the Zaxby’s on Hillsborough Road in Durham.

Our order came out super quick albeit they forgot my BFF’s cookies and my Ceaser dressing. Always check your food before you leave, as a rule of thumb. The cashier was really nice and friendly though. The food was hot and delicious. Would return.

«More fast-food chicken on Hillsborough Rd in Durham» Been coming here semi-regularly since it opened and my first review, but it’s growing on me. The fries are still a bit on the lame(frozen bag) side, but they now add a cajun seasoning that makes them taste better. The chicken nibblerz meal is really good and a lot of food. The food is slower than other fast-food places, but only very slightly so, and you can order & pay online making it quite speedy(faster than other places). Overall, I think I’m a fan now…

I usually get the chicken finger plate but decided to try the boneless wing for a change. I didn’t really like them and will more than likely stick to the chicken finger plate. The most recent chicken finger plate I got was great. It was served super hot just the way I like my food. I feel like it was more food for the amount I paid than I would have gotten at another location. Both times I’ve been through the drive thru has been pretty quick. I interacted with two different employees at the window and both were very friendly and dishing out compliments and had smiles on as big as can be(this was also at 10:45 when they were about to close). I also ordered a medium drink but the size was closer to a large or even extra large(way bigger cup than I expected). Zaxby’s is great and a good fast food option.

I came here on opening day and ordered some chicken that made it difficult for me to decide which I liked better, Zaxbys or Chick-fil-A. I had a sampler platter, which came with wings(with the bone), chicken strips, a buttered toast, crinkle fries, and sauces. Plus, a chocolate cookie milkshake. I’m not a huge fan of crinkle fries and usually associate them with cafeteria food, but these were some of the best I’ve had. The chicken strips were incredibly tender and fried well, and the Zaxbys sauce was awesome. The wings were also good, and you can choose from different sauces, but nothing amazing. I also had a lot of fun with the soda machine they have — one of those kinds where you can choose from a bunch of different flavors to mix with a large selection of different Coke brands. The milkshake was also good but sparse on the cookie bits — not too sweet and came with a generous dollop of whipped cream. The pricing is more expensive than you will find with other fast food places, but it’s within the niche of the higher-quality, chicken fast food restaurant like Chick-fil-A. I would say I prefer the chicken here over Chick-fil-A’s, but prefer Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries. This place has a different vibe too, with comfort-food milkshake flavors such as banana pudding and birthday cake, and the food served on ordinary black disposable plates, rather than a logo-heavy packaging when opting for dining in.
