Amazing. I can’t believe there is only one other review for this. We were looking to upgrade some of our landscaping and I’ve passed by this place dozens of times. It’s kind of tucked into the parking lot of the Home Depot off 15 – 501. When you first drive in, you will notice a beautiful garden with well manicured, picture perfect roses. You can browse here first – everything is labeled– so you can see what each variety will look like when mature. On this day they had guided tours where an employee would answer questions and talk about the roses and their care. There was also a tent setup with cookies and beverages. The weekend we went(mid May) had a «first-bloom» sale where almost every rose plant was $ 15 dollars. They have dozens of varieties and colors. The shopping area is well organized and labeled so you can get an idea of the ideal growing conditions and expected size of the plant. The quality and selection of the roses here was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It was like visiting a rose museum and having the opportunity to purchase the displays! The staff was extremely polite and helpful. When we made selections they had a section to put things in reserve so that you don’t have to carry around a cart. In some instances they even took things over to the hold section for us. Check my pictures to see some of what we brought home. All the plants were extremely healthy looking; I just hope I care for them well. They have literature available to educate you on proper planting and care for your roses. There is a small garden shop to pick up accessories. The hours are a little tight; unless you’re visiting on a Saturday, chances are it will conflict with your work hours. I wish we had a bigger yard(we’re townhouse renters) to plant more. It was so hard to choose! I will definitely come back if only to browse and enjoy the beauty.

The best time to come may be in the spring when the roses are in full bloom. You’ll get the full effect of the various colors and the fragrance. Not that going later in the season is bad, it’s just not quite as impressive. With all that said, though, Witherspoon is impressive. Even late in the season they have dozens of different types of roses and in a lot of different colors. All in one place. It’s not until you actually see the flower up close and compare it with the blooms on nearby plants that you can really appreciate the variations in the roses themselves. Some have single petals, some have multiple, others are textured, and some smooth. And the colors are as varied as they blooms themselves. A nice feature of Witherspoon are the large easy to see and read pictures they have near the rose bush so even when it’s not blooming, you’ll get a good idea of what the rose looks like. The staff here is willing to help and full of great advice. Also as a nice touch, were the recommendations for companion flowers to the rose. Along the walkway toward the shop were some of those — mostly simple, single petal blooms that would nicely compliment the the more complex bloom of a rose. You can buy your roses potted and in bloom, or if you’re out of town, order direct from the Witherspoon supplier. Whatever type of garden you have, Witherspoon will have a rose for it – a tea rose, hybrid rose, climbing rose, shrub rose, and more. They have a nicely laid out garden here, set on a hill and with nearby trees that make it hard to believe you’re next to a shopping center. Even if you don’t buy a rose plant, you’ll enjoy the nice setting and a spectacular display of color and fragrance.
