I was visiting the area for work and my coworkers brought me here for lunch on my last day. The ambience was casual and yet somehow sophisticated. The table didn’t feel large enough in size to accommodate the four of us but we made it work. I ordered the veggie burger: Char-grilled and topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, roasted red peppers and swiss cheese. That’s the menu description. It was VERY tasty. I had cole slaw as my side; it had a little bit of a tang to it. I thought it might have a different, regional take to it but it was like West Coast slaw. The highlight is the cake. Seriously… I’m more of a pie guy but the cake here is to die for. We ordered a slice of chocolate-peanut butter, a slice of chocolate bliss, a half-slice of tiramisu, and a half-slice of chocolate-strawberry. The four of us shared and I waddled out of there. Delicious, fresh cake. It’s definitely a treat. I hope my next NC trip(yet to be planned) will include Nantucket Grill.

This place is pretty sub-par. I generally only go here for lunch, but I think dinner is better. I don’t know if they have a different chef at that time or what, but dinner is definitely better. I agree that the food seems over-priced. I also agree that the wait staff is not the best. Their cakes are to die for. I love the chocolate strawberry shortcake. My favorite thing to order for lunch is the Blackened Salmon Salad.

I like coming to Nantucket Grill to get a seafood meal. You see what I did there? I always get their seafood kabobs. It’s always so filling, even the half portion. I love the lobster cream sauce that comes with the kabobs that has chunks of lobster in it. My shrimp and scallops are always well seasoned and I’ve never had under cooked rice here. I sub my mixed veggies of asparagus and bonus, there’s no extra up charge for the upgrade to asparagus like some restaurants charge. I’ve never had a bad experience at Nantucket Grill. And did you on Tuesday is free cake slice Tuesday with any $ 10 purchase. Who doesn’t love free cake!

Bait and Switch. Went here for a night out to enjoy the Saturday prime rib/“free slice of mile high cake”. Arrived at 8pm, seated by 8:30. Ordered the prime rib we’d been anxious to try. Ten minutes later, we were still waiting on our drink order when the waiter unapologetically returned to say they had just run out of prime rib. Strike 1. We both decided to order filet instead, and made sure to order one medium well instead of medium rare due to my very obvious eight month pregnant belly. Twenty minutes later, our waiter FINALLY delivered the drink order and warm bread appetizer, and about 30 seconds later our steaks came out. My medium well steak was bloodier than the medium rare one, with half the flavor(according to my hubby)…strike 2. Food was okay but not great. Finally time for free slices of cake! Ordered strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. Waiter came back five minutes later to say the strawberry shortcake was out. Strike 3. He asked if I wanted him to go ahead and put in a half order for carrot. Half? This is when he explained that the«free slices» of cake are really just free HALF slices. Strike 4. I told him I would go look to see what else looked appetizing at the display case, and returned quickly to order the carrot and lemon cake. Wait for it… five minutes later he returned to let me know that the carrot cake had magically run out while I was ordering! STRIKE5! Now, I had been told three different times that my order was unavailable, and literally hadn’t been able to taste anything I had wanted to try on this prime rib/free cake evening. So I asked if I could substitute something else, like cheesecake? Nope. SIX strikes and you’re out, we’re never going back, plus you get a one star Unilocal review. By the way, did I mention that my husband had to order his tea twice before it was ever served 30 minutes after sitting down, and it sat empty for the last 30 minutes we were there? I would think Nantucket had been around long enough to know how much food they needed for a weekend, and how to take better care of their customers. What a disappointment.

The menu looked very appetizing but everything failed to deliver. Coming from Chicago I was hopeful for a good meal on my last night in Durham, but the Nantucket did not deliver. I ordered the lobster roll thinking being on the east coast and being named Nantucket Grille they might know what they’re doing… not so much. I could not taste the lobster! It looked like lobster but there was no lobster flavor, amazing! The onion ring side was on point though. The boy ordered the babyback ribs — average at best. They had all the excitement of boiled ribs finished on the grill to add char and smothered in sauce. I’m immediately biased bc my dad’s from SC and grills the best ribs known to man. These met my minimum expectation. The girl ordered stuffed shrimp and asked me «is it just me or is food anywhere not as good as Chicago?» The wife’s crab cake tasted like crabless cake. And somehow they managed to extract the flavor out of Woodford Reserve bourbon in the Big Fat Man Manhattan. Again, amazing! The best part of the meal was my Triangle Golden Ale. Shout out to Triangle Brewing!

Great patio, service, and menu options. Perfect place to wind down the week or have afternoon coffee and cake.

A girlfriend of mine suggested we dine here since she has enjoyed them in the past but after living at the beach for 9 years I’m never excited to try a seafood place here in the triangle. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday night and they were offering ½ priced bottles of wine so I had high hopes. Free bread to start a meal is always a plus in my book and theirs was pretty standard. I ordered the grilled seafood kabobs and enjoyed the fact that many dishes on the menu are available in half-portions. They offer several healthy-ish side choices like sautéed spinach, sautéed asparagus, and spinach risotto and not just your average fries and baked potato. The scallops were cooked well and the lobster sauce they were severed with is orgasmic. The mixed veggies were fresh but a bit too oily and the spinach risotto was delicious but a little gummy for my taste. $ 15.60 for two sided and 4 scallops is average for the area and was plenty of food to fill me up. Service was friendly but very slow. Not the best seafood place but given the area it’s pretty solid. Their menu is diverse enough that I plan to return for a casual date night with the hubby.

I got the fish sandwich it was very fishy and salty. My sweet potato fries were also very greasy. I would not suggest to go here for food.

Food and service both phenomenal. My date and I both got burgers and they were big and juicy. They also put the ingredients on the side for us so that we could choose what we wanted(since I asked about removing some). The waitress kept our drinks full, the atmosphere was great, and I LOVE their cakes. I went back today just to buy another slice of the Thin Mint cake! Prices are reasonable for the grade of food, too. They’ve won my business for sure. I can see myself walking there for lunch at work occasionally from now on.

This was our first time going here. Food was good but the service sucked, the waitress disappeared and had to flag her down to get the check. We saw everyone else getting cake and asked her and she said yes we can get free cake? We did not know that, she never asked us.

Felt a little underdressed coming in on a Sunday for lunch, so we decided to sit at the bar(we had just run 10 miles) and needed some immediate refuel. Had the Harpoon UFO and started with some clam chowder. Man, that stuff is good! Creamy and had some nice clam chunks. Nice and warm on a frigid chilly day like today. Hubs got the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries(waffle fries). I had the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. Both were just ok. They got the refueling job done for us but Nothing special about the sandwich or burger. The sweet potato waffles fries were a little mushy and not at all seasoned. There are improvements to be made there. The bartender was very friendly and attentive and provides greatest food and drink service to us. Overall, not a meal to write home about but it passed for what we were looking for.

My first time here and it was delicious. Ordered the jumbalaya pasta but substituted broccoli for pasta. Spicy, creamy and I ate it all!

Yes, I’m a fan of this Seafood restaurant. Place was very busy for a Saturday night, but didn’t have to wait to long. The menu had so much on it I couldn’t make up my mind. I ended up with two entrees. Seafoods pasta, loaded with seafood, great spice«kick to it». I also ordered the whole belly fried clams«yummmm». Desert was lemon cake. «The best». I highly recommend this place! They also had a great variety of beers on tap.

Delicious desserts with mediocre food, good service and a family friendly atmosphere, Nantucket is a popular destination on Tuesday nights when they offer one free slice of cake with entrée and Sunday afternoons for the family and older«post-church» crowd. The menu is large and diverse with seafood options: appetizers and entrees, as well as a large variety of sandwiches, burgers and salads. I could see Nantucket being a good summer time dessert destination with their large patio, decent drink selection and of course those cakes! I stopped in for lunch and tried the ruben with sweet potato fries and split a piece of strawberry shortcake(quoted by our server as ‘the most popular’ cake option). Sandwich was good but not particularly special or something that would be difficult to replicate. The cake is ware it’s at. Overall, Nantucket is an okay but I wouldn’t recommend it as a great date or dinner option. If you’re looking for somewhere to accommodate a large group with kids, this might be a good spot. Otherwise, just stop in for dessert.

I work nearby and am always recommending this place to everyone looking for a bite. I have only had their lunch menu once and it was a good sandwich, typical grill type food. The unique thing about this place, and the reason I always highly recommend this place, is the cake. There is so many cake options and sometimes samples of your torn between flavors. When you order a cake slice be aware that it is huge! In a delicious way, of course. If I am having a back work day, this cake is my go-to. I should probably start charging for all the free advertising I do for this place to clients at work :) everyone comes back so excited to go there again!

What a gem. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. As soon as you walk in you see a desert case that is unbelievable. First off… Welcome to New England! We’ve been sampling numerous restaurants all over the area, and not that we were looking, but… Lobster Rolls! Great drinks, burgers, steaks and seafood. All the seafood is fresh, but they do fry a lot of their meals. Grilled options available, and very good. A quiet reclusion. A gem.

What an amazing restaurant! This was recommended to me by someone I was working with that’s local to the NC area(between Durham and Fayetteville). The food here is American but there are so many great things at this restaurant! I ordered the chili(amazing) and the blackened salmon salad(also amazing). It was rewarded with a nice slice of strawberry shortcake… it was cake night so free cake. Who can say no? Great location and looking to come back when I can!

Is it even legal to make cake that large? They offer a great variety of cake flavors– my top two are the strawberry shortcake and the tiramisu. Their burgers and clam chowder soup are pretty good but nothing you can’t get elsewhere. I honestly think their cake is where the money’s at~ I don’t even know how to describe it– so many layers… so moist and soft… icing is perfectly whipped… FYI, half a slice is more than enough for one person! *Oh and make sure you go either on a Tuesday or Saturday evening ’cause you get a slice of cake for free if you order an entrée of $ 10+! I like the atmosphere of the Durham location better than the Chapel Hill one. The seating of the Durham one feels more like an actual sit-down restaurant.
