Alcohol and science! You just can’t go wrong! And paired with alcohol, you just can’t go wrong. Well, actually, you could go wrong. DON’T DRINKANDDOSCIENCEATHOME, KIDS! Adult supervison required! This was hands-down the best experience I had at a museum. ever.(although truthfully the bar wasn’t really sent that high.) I literally can’t describe to you how great a combination of alcohol and science is. Going in, I thought there would maybe be a few didn’t drink spots and a show or two. It was far from it! There were dozens of different vendors from all around the area, with nothing but amazing drinks! The food vendors also brought great compliments to the drinks. The exhibits, shows and talks were all fun and educational! I think this is one of the BEST date activities in the area! I will definitely be back for future events!

my friend and I had a blast at this event! Unilocal did a fantastic job with organizing a wide variety of offerings, special science exhibits, and the merging of the two. I must say learning about ants and how different species smell like different common fragrances like lemon or vanilla was real neat!!! the adult beverages from local businesses were delicious and team trivia was a real good time as well. the museum’s normal exhibits were also available for perusal… O and the space themed photo booth was hilarious. the list goes on but all in all, this event is very unique and incredibly enjoyable for not-so sciency and sciency folks alike!

The Museum of Life and Science hosts a handful of «adult friendly» events every couple months. These events give those of us 21& older a chance to explore the world of science in a usually kid-friendly environment but taken over by adults! Cocktails and Cosmonauts is such event, celebrating mankind’s first trip into space and themed with all kinds of drink and food samples from local restaurants and distilleries. Guests are invited to sample astronaut ice cream, which I would describe as room temperature dip-n-dots, discover what would happen to a Peep marshmallow if it ventured up into space, sip creatively named cocktails from Alley Twenty-Six, TOPO distillery, Mystic Bourbon Liqueur and much more. There were also drinks for purchase(beer and wine) if you wanted more after your tastebuds were tempted. I LOVED that each cocktail crafter came up with a fancy name: The Milky Way Galaxy by On the Rocks and The Jupiter by Alley 26 were some of my favorites, and I loved seeing The Bothers Vilgalys and Mystic Bourbon giving out drinks as well. The worst drink was the most well known– Space Dream: Tang, rum and vodka(they must’ve run out of liquor or something because I swear it just tasted like TANG!) I also enjoyed a pork sandwich from Porchetta, a local food truck parked outside the museum, although it was one of only two trucks at the event, hopefully they’ll bring more food trucks out in the future. My favorite part of the night was definitely entering the blow up planetarium(the STARLAB!), sitting on the floor in my high heels and looking up at our incredible galaxy(even incredible in a blow-up planetarium). The presentation occurred every 20 minutes and a sign-up sheet was required as there was a 25 person max per showing. Luckily, we got into one of the last shows(it filled up quick!) and sat back, felt a little like a kid again, as we recognized the planets and were shown constellations. All in all, a fun evening and an event that I would be happy to attend again, thanks of course to Unilocal for the tickets!
