Meh. Ok first off the weight room is only nice because no one else is in there so it’s like your own private facility but that’s the only good thing about it. Half of the equipment is broken or doesn’t work properly. There are No water fountain close by. Free Wifi is nice I guess. Plenty of parking. The staff is nice :). Also a decent place to play indoor basketball and racket ball. The pool is not that bad if you go at the right time. Out front there is a nice play ground for the little ones.

Edison Johnson is right next to the Museum of Life and Science and is part of Durham’s Parks and Rec. It’s got an indoor pool and offers adult and children’s swimming and water aerobics classes, but the recreational swim time is limited and there is really no shallow end for small kids. There is also a building complex that looks like it might host camps although I’ve never seen it occupied.
We go for the playground, which is free and pretty nice. It has a sprayground, but you have to hold the turn on button for about 2 minutes to get the water to turn on. It has a little sand area with a built in digger, a couple swings and a fairly nice play structure. It’s generally well kept and free of trash. The main problem is that it is not very shady, so it is best for early mornings or cooler days.
