One of my favorite aspects of this McDonald’s is how friendly the service is. It actually does brighten my day. The food too, of course. The selection is slightly less than a typical McDonald’s, but it’s on a college campus and they have what I consider to be the best options. My go-to choice is the spicy chicken wrap, though the double quarter pounder will always have a special place in my heart. I was recently introduced to the McGriddle. The fact that they use mini pancakes as buns just blows my mind.

You can rely on them to get you through that ravenous 2am phase while studying in the library. Lots of specials, very good service, and 50 nuggets with sweet tea. I never come here until it’s the last option(past midnight), but by then it’s a pretty fun adventure each time.

Used to eat here during undergrad. It’s usually open 24 hours or until very late. Good for late night snacks. Less menu than other McDonalds but oh well. Friendly staff… Donate to Ronald McDonald House.

«Fast food with a personal touch, daily specials, high standards and high accuracy» OK, it’s McDonald’s, which some might think makes it barely worth a mention. But, there are a few things worth commenting(and contrasting to other stores). 1) This place is inside the«Bryan Center» at Duke University(so obviously no playground, drive through, or outdoor facilities). 2) They have daily specials now, like a $ 3.99 quarter pound cheeseburger meal(w/fries and drink) on Thursdays. Further discounts also given to Duke employees, especially if using their«Flex» card. 3) This is the only McDonalds in town that I believe you can have your food & drinks«your way». You can actually get a cup of water instead of a fountain drink(hence saving a lot of $). I often ask for carbonated water instead of a regular syrupy fountain drink. Ketchup dispeners available with little cups & lids for dipping, rather than the usual lame«packets.» And the accuracy is super– I’ve gone tons of times and only maybe once or twice had anything incorrect. 4) The manager is a wonderful Colombian man who prides himself on satisfying his customers. If you go there a few times, you’re sure to meet him and he’ll treat you very well. Tell him about any problems, and he’ll make amends(discount, free pie in addition, etc.). He sometimes just tosses in something extra for regular customers(or gives a deeper discount). This all adds a real personal touch– doesn’t feel as «corporate» as the other stores in town. 5) No kids meals. Oh well– it is on a college campus… Various references to Duke basketball all around. Seating and ordering areas have a few TVs playing as well– usually news. This is my favorite McDonald’s in Durham– I encourage anyone on campus at Duke to give it a try.
