The best Japanese take out, I’ve ever had. I don’t even like my regular places anymore. This place puts everywhere else to shame. Taste of Kanki — price of average fast food/takeout. Win! Not only that, but 100% A+ customer service.

I was excited to know that there was a relatively cheap hibachi place near where i live. However, the my curiosity got the best of me. It was an okay experience. The rice seemed to be a bit too mushy for my eating. I got the steak and shrimp combination platter for about $ 10+. Came with a moderate amount which will make you full by the end, but it had no flavor at all. The entrée seemed to be a bit bland, hence, thats why they give you a lot of shrimp sauce and ginger sauce to help with the taste. I wouldn’t say this is a my favorite place, and i don’t know how often ill come, but if you’re just looking to satisfy your hibachi craving for a relatively cheap price, then come here!

My husband and I have been fans of this place since it opened. The prices are cheap and the portions are large(and delicious!). The staff have always been kind and I love the rewards card they have. Recently, we hosted a large get together and needed a nice meal idea that wouldn’t be very expensive(and wasn’t the usual Pizza or Fried Chicken). I decided on Hibachi 88 and it was the best decision ever. The staff were easy to work with — letting me customize some of the options on their catering menu(yes! they have a catering menu!). They took the order around lunchtime for a same day, evening pickup. They also threw in an extra salad just because. They even helped me load my car. The catering portions were supposed to feed 6 – 8, but were so large, they easily fed close to 10 – 15 each. At ~$ 50 per portion(includes chicken, veggies, and a huge container of rice) you’re looking at less than $ 5 per person. Plus — the food was a hit. Many folks offered compliments(thinking I’d made it myself haha, I corrected them and handed them a menu :)) I loved them before, but I adore them now. IMHO this is the best Hibachi place in the Triangle.

I have been a customer since they opened. At first the food was everything you would want from a Japanese fast food restaurant. The customer sevice is nice and the food is still fresh and fast. However my friend stopped in for lunch twice in the past 2 weeks at two different times and they have gotten lazy with their food portions. The shimp and chicken combo came with 5 or 6 small pieces of chicken and 4 pieces of shrimp, a plate full of rice and veggies that sat on top of another pile of rice. DON’T GETMEWRONGTHEIRFOODISGOOD, the chicken can be a hit or miss. But for the priceof there food you can go to Sansui down the street they have great lunch specials and fast take out or dine in service.

We got a coupon in the mail and after checking the reviews we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! The staff is friendly and there’s a good variety to choose from. Place your order at the front counter and they bring it to your table when you’re ready. As you can see from the pictures I added the portion size is ample. Really good Hibachi flavor and very filling! We’ll definitely be back soon!

I usually order their Chicken Hibachi entrée. The best thing I can say is their generous portions of rice and veggies. But not so much on the chicken. And the chicken that you do get is dry and tough, like it’s been overcooked. I ordered their Shrimp Hibachi once and honestly wasn’t a fan. The shrimp just tasted kinda off. I do love their sticky fried rice and it pairs very well with white sauce. I also would not recommend getting their Miso soup. Honestly it was very lacking of ingredients. I think I got like a sliver of mushroom and that was it besides the broth. And I found a piece of undissolved Miso paste at the bottom. Their price is very reasonable and the owners are really nice though which is why I’ll give them a 3 out of 5.

3 – 3.5 stars. There are just too many fast food joints here in Durham near Route 55. Unfortunately, I don’t have the metabolism of an 18-year old and so I can’t eat Chick-Fil-A everyday I’m on a business trip to Durham and so Hibachi 88 was a nice find. Prices are reasonable, portions are very large, and it was exactly what I was looking for– noodles, lots of veggies, and lean meat. This place may be easy to miss. It’s in the Food Lion shopping plaza.

Great Chicken Hibachi! The Sesame Chicken is pretty good as well. Amazing sauces, big portions and a great value. We really needed good hibachi takeout in South Durham. I’ll be back… probably more often than I care to admit.

The rice was hard and the chicken was overcooked and tough, but the atmosphere was fantastic.

Excellent food service and price. Lunch special 1 hibachi chicken is my favorite. Chicken rice vegetables soup or salad and drink for 8.64. Can’t beat it and food is delicious.

My roommate and I went in to try the new place. The seating area was nice and so was our server. However, the food is mediocre. The crab ragoons were terrible with basically only a cream cheese filling and the spring rolls were only a tad better. I will never order either of those in my life again. The hibachi chicken was tasty so I rated 3 stars because I would order it again. Better than some but not as good as others…

I ordered hibachi steak with rice, veggies, and egg rolls to take home. The steak tasted like it was approaching expiration, the rice was soggy, and the veggies were mushy and had some sweet sauce on them that was not desirable. I also found that they had forgotten our egg rolls. I was excited that we had a new restaurant in the area but I was totally disappointed with the food.
