This place is awesome! We got the jackson ville roll, crunchy salmon and other 2 which I sadly dont remember. The sushi were seriously seriously good and so was the sweet tea. Service and décor is pretty good. Its on my list every time I visit Raleigh. Now hoping I find something equally as good here in ATL.

Visited this venue on 29 Dec 2015. Service: Subpar Sushi: Solid(try the SYA roll) Sashimi: No bueno(not good) All & all this is a fair venue for cheap sushi & sashimi. The wait staff needs some remediation. Further, the sashimi was not fresh; although, the sushi was pretty good. Would visit this location again– for sushi only! JB X.

I love this place, it’s a tiny building but don’t shy away from the outside appearance, the food was amazing, service was fast and friendly, probably the best soft shell crab I’ve ever had, I shall return

This place has become my favorite sushi place that’s affordable and relatively close to Chapel Hill. Great place for casual lunch or dinner. The first time that I’ve been here was 3 years ago. I remember I enjoyed the food but I’ve forgotten about this place until seeing this place on Unilocal again. Nothing has changed to this place in the past 3 years. The service and food are good and affordable. All rolls are 50% off. My favorites are Jacksonville and Louisiana. We even ordered another roll to go for late night snack. I gave it 4 stars because of the lack of interior design and music. Some improvements on the atmosphere will make the dining experience more enjoyable and formal.

I love coming here for lunch. I try to come at least three times a week. The sushi selection is amazing. And they have half off everyday. There nothing I can say bad about these guys. They speak excellent English as well.

This place is okay. You would get like it’s trying to be a nice place, but it’s just not there yet. But it’s good enough for lunch and a causal dinner. I’d suggest the owner to change the generic mall music to something more relatable and pleasant, turn the heat up a bit to keep the large space warmer to make the costumes want to come back and have something to remember for. The service is alright. Not attentive, but if you wait you will get your bills in the end. The food is okay. Not great, but doable and have a few new ideas in the rolls, I’ve only have crawfish in sushi rolls here. If they try a bit more – get better sushi, faster service, change of atmosphere, they can do better. But for now it’s just another Japanese restaurant out there. Not great, not bad.

I’ve ordered take out sushi from here twice since it’s so close to my house but I can officially say I won’t be doing that again. In my humble opinion they don’t serve fresh sushi and my tummy agrees(or rather does not agree). To me Sansui is serving up what I consider grocery store sushi and sadly is the worst sushi I’ve had in the triangle. On a positive note the staff here is super friendly and proficient and their prices are very reasonable. If you’re in the area and looking for sushi and don’t mind paying a little more I would suggest driving the 3 miles to Shiki Sushi.

What an amazing sushi restaurant! All the ingredients are so fresh. The service was amazing and very friendly. The cost of the food is great for the quality! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Come here. Great fish. Chef knows how to cut it and amazing service. Great roll with white tuna on the outside, crunchy panko on the inside. Good Uni and an inspired chef. Bravo

A disappointing sushi experience. I got the two roll lunch combo: spicy tuna, yellowtail scallion, miso soup and a salad. The miso soup was what you would expect. I did not like the salad. The dressing was overpowering and there was too much of it. The sushi rolls are large but they have too much rice. I did like that there was no spicy mayo sauce on the spicy tuna roll(I am not a fan of mayo) and the tuna still had a nice spice level. However, in addition to the rice masking the flavor of the sushi, I did not like that the fish was warm. It did not make sense since they had only been open for an hour and the food was delivered shortly after I ordered. I am confused about this place since it has some great Unilocal reviews. With so many other sushi joints nearby, I think the first impression is going to be important for this place to establish a loyal customer base.

Decided to try this spot out and Was well worth the short trip. Amazing sushi. Had the hurricane, yellowtail roll and King Kong. If you like your sushi slightly fried I’ll recommend their fried rolls

Worst sushi I’ve ever had. Fish smelled rotten and it was just gross. Service was bad.

I seriously don’t understand this 50% off all sushi concept(or for that matter the BOGO concept at nearby sushi places). Why not just stop overcharging and charge full price for a cheaper roll??? Regardless came here for dinner. Better than other sushi places I’ve had thus far in the Durham area but still just okay. Tried the spicy tuna roll, godzilla(shrimp tempura and eel), and Durham(crunchy eel with salmon). My friend got some of the cooked rolls including the special and a fried roll. The cooked rolls were by far better than the raw ones and I usually prefer the opposite. The raw fish just didn’t taste super fresh-I’d be hesitant to try a sashimi plate. Service was good, ambiance was relaxing. Overall good cooked rolls, so-so raw rolls, would come back if I had a serious sushi craving.

Went here a long time ago. From what I recall, it has decent sushi at a pretty cheap price. Warm sake is also nice. Ambience inside is pleasant(the exterior is definitely misleading as it looks a lot shabbier than the interior).

I was in the mood for some sushi and wanted to try a new place, unfortunately, I didn’t make a good pick. Like everyone mentioned, the interior looks way better than the exterior would have you think. However, and nobody seems to have mentioned this, the ambience inside was not conducive to a good time at all. It was eerily quiet, no background music or noise of any kind, TV without sound. I could hear every person’s every word and every little clink and clank! Get me out! It doesn’t seem like this establisment cares much for the presentation of their food either. Ordered a house salad and it came out in a glass bowl from the 90s(I know b/c my mother had these same bowls when I was a kid). The salad was just your basic iceberg mix you can find in a grocery store and the ginger dressing looked pale beige in color(not an appetizing color) and pureed. Say what? But at least the dressing tasted good. On to the sushi, we got a few rolls: Stone, Yellowstone, Louisiana, and another roll I can’t recall. Nothing wowed me, nothing stood out to me. Didn’t taste that fresh. Better has been had. That being said… when one lives only 1 minute away from this place, I’m seeing a lot of takeout happening in the future, just because it’s there.

2 – 2.5 stars Mediocre sushi. It’s very expensive for the(lack of) quality you get. There wasn’t too much consistency in terms of the rice or the freshness. Lesson learned– not really a place for nigiri even if you’re craving it. If you’re dining here anyways, then stick to the rolls. My 4 rolls and a happy hour beer came out to $ 40ish before tax/tip. But hey, at least my belly was full =)

Compared to a couple other sushi places I have been to, Sansui does it a little better. The sushi is always 50% off which is a bonus, and a main reason I have gone to Sansui. The sushis pieces themselves are good, but a little mushy to my liking. The pieces of fish on top are also pretty thin, so you really get your filling from the rice. The service was on the slow side when I went recently. We waited about 15 mins before getting service, and the restaurant only had 2 tables sat other than ours. The actual dining area isn’t bad, and the location makes it easy to get to. But going on a regular basis for me is debatable if I want higher quality sushi.

Firstly, I wanted to address Sansui’s lack of a cocktail menu. Now, this isn’t a make-or-break deal for me but it definitely made it difficult for me to pick out a drink to pair with my meal, so I ended up not getting anything other than water. This may be great for those who know what they like as our server was eagerly happy to make me whatever my heart desired. However, when I finally settled on a cocktail he was out of sight till our food came out and at that point I didn’t want it anymore. This actually seemed to be a common theme throughout the night though as we ran out of water several times and could not get his attention or find him. I get that servers are busy(and this one did seem to be frantically moving from table to table) but a courtesy check in or at least following up on what you offer to a customer is only right in my opinion. Okay, end of small rant! The sushi at Sansui is half price – which is awesome! Especially if you don’t think you can eat two rolls or just want a roll in addition to a meal(where the bogo special wouldn’t really help you out). I heard about the Ocean Pyramid appetizer and just had to try it, I’m glad I did! The fish was fresh and I loved the concept but my only criticism is that there’s too much ponzu sauce on this dish. The sauce was on the bottom of the plate and so the rice soaked up a lot of it which made it more difficult to eat with chopsticks. Ultimately, I’d order this again because it is good but I’d just ask for the sauce on the side. The sushi roll I ordered was the Black dragon roll and it was just okay. Surprisingly, the flavors of the roll didn’t pop… it was just kinda bland to me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I ate it all – never waste any sushi! – but I definitely won’t be ordering this again if I do return. My friends ordered different rolls and said theirs were good so maybe I just need to try the other different rolls out. But for now, I’ll give Sansui 3 stars as the service was lacking, the sushi roll was just okay and the ocean pyramid was good but could use a lot less ponzu sauce.

So… Second time here just for the Jacksonville roll! So good so good so good! Friends got bunch of rolls and I also got the dragon roll but they’re all literally blah compared to the Jacksonville roll… All the«crab» rolls just have imitation crab and I definitely like ai Fuji better in terms of rolls, atmosphere, service… and Ai Fuji has free shrimp chips(yumm) lol Tried the Louisiana roll which was ok… But had a super sweet sauce. Also unique though Friends all agreed Jacksonville roll was super unique and the best roll there!
