Godiva Chocolatier

BEWARE: Don’t walk into this store hungry unless you plan on walking out with at least a few chocolates in hand. The intoxicating chocolate fumes make this the best smelling and most tempting store in Southpoint. (yes, even more tempting than Victoria’s Secret)
Luckily, I was never bitten by the chocolate love bug, but I know that gifts from this store always get well-​received and eaten.

They hide the free sample for the day behind the counter so you have to ask.

I first wandered into this Godiva last Christmas, to get that something special for several people on my Christmas List. When you first walk in, that aroma of chocolate is intoxicating. The staff was friendly and helpful. They noted the sale items as well as favorites that sell all year round. I joined their rewards program [who knew they had one?]. They also gave out several samples adding to my delightful experience. I went to the Crabtree location while in that area but it felt «stuffy» and some of the staff seemed impatient [when you go to Godiva, part of the fun process is looking around]. This location is my favorite. Godiva should be a «must stop» during your next Southpoint visit.

I was very disappointed by their selection. They don’t have as much individual chocolates as other stores. I also bought my usual, the chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. The way that they covered the fruit was very different from the norm. When I got back to my hotel I opened the bag to find a huge mess! The fruit had turned gooey and all of the chocolate had fallen off and stuck to the bag! It was maybe an hour in between the time I bought it and tried to eat it. Usually when they drizzle the chocolate on the fruit it’s drizzled up and down rather than side to side. It seems to stick better and hold the fruit on better. It was still yummy chocolate though and I tried my best to eat it. It’s just upsetting to spend $ 8.50 on candy and have it be totally screwed up!
