I have never written a Unilocal review and didn’t even have the app, but I feel so passionately about the horrible service at this restaurant that I downloaded the app and wrote this review at the table. My friends ordered the chicken nachos, and by the time they arrived, they essentially looked like the waiter popped open a bag of Tostitos and poured them on the plate. Then we debated with the manager and waited an hour to receive a $ 1 discount. Never coming back here. You shouldn’t either. No wonder the Cheesecake Factory and Maggianos had a 90 minute wait, while champps had none at all. My stupid mistake.

My husband and I stopped in on Saturday, January 30th around 130 or 2 and sat down at the bar. There was one female bartender at the time and we both ordered a beer. We decided to order appetizers and it took some doing to get her attention to come back so we could order. We put our order in and waited… and waited… and waited. She disappeared for about 15 minutes(pretty sure she took her break) and while she was gone, the male bartender there ignored us. Finally he came over and asked if we needed anything(now its been almost 25 minutes since we ordered food). We told him we didnt want the food and we just wanted the bill to pay for our beer. Now here comes the female bartender and asks if there is a problem. I told her I was tired of waiting for our food and we want to pay our bill and leave. No apology. She just looks at us and her EXACT words were«fine…whatever» and she walks away. The male bartender did apologize and I told him thank you but she should be the one apologizing. No, you were not that busy. Yes you treated us, the paying customer, like crap. Yes you were a bitch. No we wont be back. Yes we went over to ZinBurger and had a fantastic meal with great service.

For the price the salmon was small, my hubbys burger and onion rings came out cold. Bad tasting margarita.

Three stars for Champps. Don’t get me wrong, the food is great for the average American burger joint. I’ve been to Champps enough to order a lot of their foods and was content with every single one of them. Couple of the downsides though. The service can really be a hit or miss. Sometimes I’ll have waiters that’ll be attentive to our table and come frequently. Other times, the waiter comes once, maybe twice more after taking our order before bringing us the checks. This is one of the bigger reasons why I have not gone to Champps in a really long time. Last time my friends and I went, we had to wait nearly 25 minutes just for our checks to be given to us, and then another 10 minutes for us to have it returned. Next, I came in one Sunday to watch a Carolina Panthers game(#keeppounding) and yes, I can get pretty loud during these games as an avid, passionate fan. However, I felt almost uncomfortable supporting my team at this sports bar because of the looks I was constantly given by others customers. I would understand if I was being considerately loud(and I know how loud and annoying that can be), but these were simple cheers after a good play every now and then. If the restaurant wants to stray away from the«sports bar» atmosphere, they should re-consider having all those TVs in there for sport-viewing purposes. Regardless, I would hesitate coming back here, but wouldn’t mind having a burger/fries combo from here if I’m craving it while wandering Southpoint. Overall, good foods, but needs work on service.

Bad evening! What s fantastic bad evening at a nice place! Imagine– 12 or so people total in the bar and the bartender lady takes from 7PM to 7:30PM to get your party of four drinks and a glass of water! Really really bad service. Zero out of five stars for tonight.

Never posted a 1 star review before, so that is a sign as to how bad this experience was. Took forever(5+ mins) to get seated because there was no hostess up front(even though the place was only ¼ full). Took forever to get a waiter(10+ mins) and I had to stand up and ask for one. Took forever to get our food(30+ mins), had to ask the waiter twice and he went back to the kitchen to check. The kitchen is behind glass and clearly visible to the dining room. It was clear that they had not put the order in. The manager came over and apologized, which I appreciated, but did nothing to make things right. It took over 45 minutes from the time I came in the door to the time the food arrived… And I was dining with a 5 year old. The experience was just awful. Btw, the food was not bad at all. Not an exquisite culinary experience, but as good as expected for a sports pub. Kids Mac and Cheese was boxed Kraft(which is actually a good thing in my book), and the buffalo blue chicken sandwich was tasty. My poor review is purely based on service. As my 5 year old said as we were leaving, «let’s never go back there again». Agreed.

Food was okay but the service was awful. My friend ordered a side of mash potatoes and they forgot it twice. By the time he got his mash potatoes, his meal was already cold. It took us 20 mins to get our waters refilled. Took us over an hour and a half to finish our lunch on our 60 min lunch break. However, I do like how they have TVs everywhere so you can watch the game.

We were here on Thanksgiving day right before we kicked off our Black Friday shopping. It was one of the few places open on the day. We ordered some wings and beer which were just as they should be in a bar when you want to eat greasy food. Our server suggested us to order Ribs with sweet potato mash and asparagus which was Thanksgiving special menu. Our server suggested us to order Ribs with sweet potato mash and asparagus which was Thanksgiving special menu. If falling off the bone is your kind of meat then this is the dish you should order. It was heavenly with mushroom sauce on it and sweet potato mash and asparagus were delicious. I can go back just for that i hope they keep the dish all year around. Amen!

Not worth it. The 12oz NY strip steak was dry, flavorless and chewy — well done when we asked for medium. The shrimp was overcooked. It was like eating cardboard for $ 26. The only good thing here is the mile high ice cream cake. Mostly old folks and families eating here. Outdated furnishings — dark inside with wood furniture and old carpet without the charm. Our server was very good, but we could see that most of the other waitresses were quite rude, cold, or indifferent to their patrons.

I rarely write a negative review, but I really am hoping that Champps can turn themselves around. I’ve now had 2 bad experiences in two months and I know they can do better. The management is wonderful at «fixing» customer complaints and grievances, but I’m hoping they can get some more experienced or better trained wait staff to make dining there more enjoyable. Let me explain… The first experience was slow service. Nothing major, but running out of water, having to ask for the bread that was supposed to accompany my meal; Things like that. Last night’s experience was something special, however. I called ahead to reserve seating for 11 people as it was my friend’s surprise 31st birthday party. Late notice, but until about 10 minutes before the party, I thought there would be 4 of us. So frantically I called them to give them the heads up and to ask about wait times, if they could have a table ready, etc… I was give a standard, «We’ll see you when you get here.» I was expecting a little more since they were, admittedly, not busy. I got there and they got busy setting up our tables and we were seated just in time to welcome the birthday girl. Yay for staff hooking that up. Although 2 of our party was missing, we ordered drinks. SOME of those drinks returned in an appropriate amount of time while others didn’t get to the table for about 45 mins(apple juice and water for a child). We ordered food and I placed a drink order. I waited about 20 mins and realized that I didn’t have my drink. I called the server over from playing with some balloons and talking to his coworkers to inform him of this. He immediately blamed the bar staff and walked over to a computer station. I’m guessing he forgot to put it in. He returns about 5 minutes later with a beer for another member of my party(who ordered the drink after me). I asked about my MIMOSA(2 ingredients) and he again blamed the bar staff. I’m frustrated at this point as I look around and see my child’s lemonade empty, as well as, two other glasses completely empty. Mind you, we still haven’t see that apple juice yet. I walked to the bar where he was SITTING and said, «Hun, what is going on? I’m getting very frustrated here.» He said they were making my drink now and I informed him of the several other empty glasses on our table. I received my drink from the bartender and the server went to refill our empty glasses. At some point I asked him to check on our food because we were about 45 mins out from ordering and had not gotten our entrees yet. He look hurried and said, «Oh. I’m just real focused, but they are making it now.» 45 minutes after we ordered and they were just making it??? At that point another member of our party became frustrated and sought out management. They were terrific once notified, however, I’m curious as to why it took someone pointing out that we weren’t happy for them to get on this. We were clearly unhappy. Everyone around us could see that. We were sitting without food and 3 hungry kids for nearly an hour. We requested that we get a new server as ours was, at that time, in the restroom for nearly 10 minutes. They obliged and got us 3 servers. SCORE! We got our food within about 15 minutes at that point and they served our cupcakes to us that we brought in from Sugarland(thanks for keeping them cool). We received no discount for our inconviences and frustrations. They were kind enough(read smart enough) not to auto-grat us. It was a very disappointing experience overall. The food wasn’t bad, actually quite the opposite. The last server we had was on point and took good care of us, but overall the negatives of the night out-weighed the positives.

Food was good but service was slow. Great TVs and atmosphere. Cost high for what you get. Next visit much better. Added a star, still pricey. 5-Oct this visit bartenders not very attentive. Left 3 stars

I can’t say I’ve had an issue here. Every time I order my food is great. The music is really nice as well, and the place has a decent vibe. My food always comes out relatively fast and the prices aren’t bad.

I had a rough day at work. My husband and I were heading to Southpoint and I wanted a really good dinner. We headed in to Champp’s. We were seated immediately and our waitress was prompt, on spot, and courteous. I had a Rum Punch for starters and it was delicious. My cheeseburger and fries were delicious. I gave it 4 out of 5 because my husband asked for extra crispy bacon on his grilled cheese and sent the sandwich back when it was not. The waitress handled it well. We had an amazing cookie and ice cream dessert to finish off the meal. I was pleased.

Let me start off by saying champps is more of a 3.5 for me. Their food is fairly tasty(but nothing spectacular) and service can be a miss but has usually been good. I’ve tried their nachos, chicken Alfredo, tuna tacos, chicken wings, and spinach-chicken flatbread(and probably some more I’m forgetting about) over the past couple of years. My favorite would be their chicken-spinach flatbread. It had such good flavor! Their wings are pretty yummy but rather greasy. The tuna tacos aren’t bad– a decent«healthy» alternative. I’d say their chicken Alfredo is really heavy-warning, you might not feel so hot after your meal. Oh my go-to side choice is their sweet potato waffle fries! They have a wide-selection of drinks and plenty of tvs if you want to have a laid-back night watching a game with your friends. A solid sports bar with plenty of seats-perfect for casual get togethers with groups!

I met two friends for a late lunch. I was surprised to see that their menu had changed since the last time I was there. When I think of champps I think of burgers and was pretty sure that’s what I’d end up with. I made a very last minute decision and I ordered the seaside shrimp and pasta-lunch portion as it’s what my friend ordered too. I ordered a blue moon and upon it’s arrival, our server asked if I wanted an orange to which I replied, yes. The orange never arrived. Once our food order was placed, not once but twice someone else’s food was brought to our table. The confusion among the servers was surprising and not in a good way. Once our food arrived, I must say that it was nice portion of pasta with garlic bread. The flavor of the pasta was amazing! I’m glad that I gave pasta a chance at what I had deemed a burger bar! Props on the food!

A friend and I decided to go to Champps after seeing Cheesecake Factory was a madhouse at 5:15 on a Saturday. Champps was pretty empty which just made me chuckle – it shows just how dominant Cheesecake Factory is. We were promptly seated and showed the specials, some of which looked good, others did not. I ordered the bourbon salmon and my friend a club sandwich with a side salad. Our waiter forgot who wanted lemon in the water, so he brought lemons on a side plate(I mention this because the service was just downright awful). The food came out pretty quickly and my salmon and mashed potatoes were both excellent. The asparagus wasn’t bad, either. They had to bring my friend an alternate dressing which our waiter eventually got confused about. After we finished, our waiter slowly came and we asked for checks. A bit of time passed and the checks finally came – except the waiter forgot if we wanted separate checks(yes, as we had said). Thankfully he had them(guessed right) and the ordeal was finally done. The food wasn’t bad, but the service was just awful. Slow and forgetful. No reason to come back – there are better options nearby(looking at you, Cheesecake Factory).

Well, you could do worse than Champps when choosing a sports bar… but you could also do much better(especially in the Triangle area). On the plus side, the space is very large and thus can accommodate sizable parties and busy days. Also, there are approximately 527 televisions(the appropriate number for a sports bar) of varying sizes, and the hostess usually tries to comply with your team allegiance when seating you should numerous games be going on at once. The service is passable. You definitely won’t get tired of seeing your server, but may get tired of waiting when you decide it’s time to get your check. The menu fare is mostly typical for a sports bar with burgers, sandwiches, big salads and numerous appetizers. However, they also offer up such exotic items as steaks, tacos, pasta, and fish and chips. I love me a hot pretzel and they have a «mega pretzel» here which is indeed huge and will set you back a mega $ 10. That price tends to seem more reasonable the more beers I’ve consumed… As for the beers, there is a decent(though far from great) draft selection. Be sure to ask for an actual draft list, however, rather than go by your waiter’s or waitress’s recollection of what brews they may have. The last time I was here, our waitress was able to recite a total of three of the beers(though wasn’t completely sure on one of them) and also thought an Oktoberfest was a cider. I guess that’s an honest mistake. They do tend to have good beer specials, and solid drink specials overall. As for those other drinks, they do have a full bar and seem to specialize in the margarita arena. All in all, Champps is probably best suited as a spot to grab a bite and/or a drink while catching part of a game either pre– or post-Southpoint Mall adventures.

Missed a Unilocal movie screening when the theater was filled just a few people ahead of us so my friend and I decided to stroll over to Champps. It was Trivia night and my love-hate relationship with useless information was tested once again. I ordered a cookie and 30 or so trivia questions later became the owner of a super-sized gray tee shirt with the words«Wing Man» emblazoned on the front. I’m sure my hubby will be thrilled to see me wearing that as a nightshirt. Ha. Back to the cookie. It was a humongous chocolate chip cookie covered with two heaping scoops of vanilla ice cream, a generous serving of whipped cream, chocolate syrup, caramel drizzle, and a cherry on top. Overall, the service was fine, the cookie was fattening(and yes, delicious), trivia was bearable(hopefully, someday, somebody in a thrift store will be happy to find a super-sized gray«Wing Man» tee shirt), and it was a pleasant experience.
